My favorite thing about Peterson is how he thinks he can give advice while being too pussy to deal with his benzo addiction without putting himself in a coma like a coward 😂😂😂😂
I'm in academia (in my final year of PhD and currently on job market) and wanted to weigh in on the bit about publishing a baccalaureate thesis. You're suspicion is certainly correct. It would be quite rare for a baccalaureate thesis to contain novel research, which would be the sort of research you would publish. Undergrads simply don't have enough mastery of their field to make original contributions (I certainly didn't as an undergrad). In fact, it's not at all uncommon, at least in my field (math), for a master's thesis to contain no novel research and therefore not be suitable for publication. As an anecdote, I obtained new results in my MA thesis and coauthored a paper based (in part) on my MA thesis, but most people in my cohort did not. Now, undergrads can certainly publish, but this would almost always be as a result of something like an REU program. They would help a professor with his or her research and get a coauthorship. This is done more for the benefit of the undergrad (and encouraging future research in the field) than for the benefit of the mentoring researcher. It would be exceedingly rare for an undergrad to solo author anything. In summary, Vaush's thesis most likely contained no original research and would not even be in the same ballpark of research fit for publication. He almost certainly knows more about the topic than the average layperson, but the distance between him and a legitimate expert on the topic simply could not be overstated.
it’s worrying seeing multiple popular figures pretend to be the arbiters of moral authority, when they dehumanize anyone who doesn’t fully agree with them. When most of the audience they have are young adults/teenagers trying t learn about politics and be informed correctly. They use that to fear monger, and at times insight physical action to a political party’s voters. It’s frustrating because they have a platform that could change a generation for the better but they use it to spew hate.
Vaush fails to realize how much he has contributed to leftist/progressive infighting by inadvertently fostering an intolerant community. I think he wants to direct his audience to become hostile towards those whom he deems to be "conservative" which is itself a morally dubious objective, but he also doesn't even seem to care who gets caught in the crossfire, including Destiny. Vaush views Destiny's reputation as collateral to mobilize his community against anything remotely conservative. Vaush views Destiny's reputation like an inevitable civilian death in a "war" against conservatism. Then of course, there's his advocacy for killing people he disagrees with.
Talking about the undergrad thing: For my university (Indiana University), all Poli-Sci majors in their senior year have to take a seminar (topics change by semester and professor preference) where you are in a class of 10 or less sitting down with a professor that has published works. You read published research on the topic and talk about it in a Socratic seminar to prepare you to write a paper of your own. At the end of the semester you’re expected to have a thesis prepared where you pose a question, make a hypothesis, establish variables, set up a survey and discuss methodology of the survey, discuss controls, and summarize what has already been researched about it. As my seminar professor put it, “you are writing a paper for publication up to the point where you conduct the survey.” Some people go on to finish their senior papers and put them in for publication, others use it as a start for a grad school thesis.
Idk… I enjoy listening to Vaush, Destiny, Noah and Hassan. I don’t think I’ll ever encounter anyone I agree with 100% of the time. A bit late but i don't think any American wants the federal government to have a lot of power. The problem is that both sides advocate for different solutions that require government expansion to work, they just don't realize it unless it's on the other side.
The majority of republicans hate feds and overwhelming want states to have more power. Dems more often than not advocate for a more centralized gov't with expanded federal power over the states. The only right wingers I can think of that can sometimes support bigger gov't are the maga cultist.

Essentially amplifying the existing data slightly.
Just so you know, it was actually a requirement for my wife to be published at least once to get into her grad program. I'm pretty sure undergrads being co-authors on studies is relatively common.
Might depend on the program or school, as I didn’t need to publish any work to get into my grad program (Psych w/ concentration in Industrial Organizational Psych. Undergrad being Business w/ concentration in general management)

Shut up, nerd.
it’s worrying seeing multiple popular figures pretend to be the arbiters of moral authority, when they dehumanize anyone who doesn’t fully agree with them.
Incredible reaction Destiny. So much insight.
Talking about the undergrad thing:
For my university (Indiana University), all Poli-Sci majors in their senior year have to take a seminar (topics change by semester and professor preference) where you are in a class of 10 or less sitting down with a professor that has published works.
How tf are there so many people who unironically like Vaush?
Because a lot of his audience are either kids or their just like him
Idk… I enjoy listening to Vaush, Destiny, Noah and Hassan. I don’t think I’ll ever encounter anyone I agree with 100% of the time. Buuuut… this video has definitely shed light on how often Vaush is wrong, exaggerates and makes bad faith claims. I didn’t really realize how often it happens. He is one heck of an arrogant know-it-all, among other things, but I think “evil” may be a strong word…
@@TheReluctantVlogger I mean, doesn't get much more evil than wanting to kill people who simply disagree with you.
Just saying.

1:07:10 How did I miss with 89% chance? I should hit 100% of the time" 🤣🤣
I know he was joking I just thought that was funny lol
Real XCOM vibes here
Fun fact: some games like fire emblem actually have different actual % chances than the one shown, because humans are very bad at estimating chances. So an 80% chance might be an effective 90%, because missing 1 in 5 shots at 80% feels way too often.
@@terminatoast7843 just to confirm, that isn't 100% correct?
@@terminatoast7843 XCOM gives a flat +10% behind the scenes on lower difficulties. Massively abusable once you know that, and it's because people feel they should actually be hitting 90% every time.
“They will perforate your homes while your children watch” 😂 Vaush is unhinged bro
I know this is kind of an old video but at 43:00 My guess is that they have the record of the crime but not the actual statistics of who committed the crime and I'm going to assert that if you factored in those unknowns it would be multiplicative on that bar graph and not added equally. Essentially amplifying the existing data slightly.
Did Vaush ever respond to this?
13:00 the best part in the WHOLE thing, great video essay.
"Reacts" is definitely a straw man arguement.
DIDNT SAY SIMON SAYS - BRRRRRRRRRR
Just so you know, it was actually a requirement for my wife to be published at least once to get into her grad program. I'm pretty sure undergrads being co-authors on studies is relatively common.
Might depend on the program or school, as I didn’t need to publish any work to get into my grad program (Psych w/ concentration in Industrial Organizational Psych. Undergrad being Business w/ concentration in general management)
Destiny sayin to integrate the area under the curve on a bar chart. Classic
People spell fascism wrong just as much as they get the whole concept wrong
What is the concept to you? Googleable definitions are invalid.
Corporate powers working in tandem with the government. It's all ready happening, and it isn't always to the right politically. But listen to a vanilla far leftist like Vaush that can't criticize money grabbing BLM that use the visage of black people to gesture fellowship to act as a money grab amd do nothing for the people it gestured towards im truth. White supremacy isn't bigger than government and corporate oligarchy working in cohesion to restrict free speech and rights of the people to ungodly levels. Vaush parrots whatever the tv says to control the minds of the people, as if propaganda doesn't air on the media mainstream.

This video right here is why, even as a white nationalist, I truly respect and adore destiny. There’s a reason why the far extreme left hates destiny. Too much common ground with wyte supreeeeeemissts. Common ground like, you know, accepting the real world as it actually is.
Destiny pulled me out of my 2020 redpill spiral. I'm very grateful for him, even though he annoys the everloving fuck out of me more frequently than others. 😂
I do think Destiny has lost a bit of his idealism, but maybe when I get to his age, I will become as cynical as he is.

Best Vaush video of all time
Vaush’s “ideology” is about as realistic as mine when I was 15 and read some summary of Machiavelli and decided it’d be pretty cool if I told people that I was “Machiavellian.” Then, unlike Vaush, I never actually said that ever and just went on with my life like a (relatively) normal person.
Man Daddy Destiny is LOVING this and so am I LMAOOO
@ 29:30 I believe Destiny is referring to E;R, who isn't dog whistling, just has edgy humor. I don't blame Destiny for having an incorrect opinion about him, since he probably doesn't know anything about him. Just wanted to correct the record.
It's funny, bc E;R explicitly said that he *was* dogwhistling on Gab and, whether you or I or anybody else thinks that statement was also just a joke, that's one of the main reasons why people think he was dogwhistling in the video that PewDiePie recommended, after-the-fact.
He has literally said it is proper dog whistle lmao
Hard to say it's edgy humor when the person themselves says it's a dog whistle.
Yes.
Next question.
The female cop around 1:54:00 was crying because she was worried about a fast food worker was mean to her.
Regardless of why she was crying, it's still no excuse for Vaush to sic his chat on her like they're a pack of rabid dogs.
1:21:16 minimal wage is not about a living wage. It's about doing odd jobs as a student while still having finantial support of your parents and about getting experiense to put on the resume
The fact Vaush doesn’t realize he is Alex Jones, or maybe the more extreme Tucker Carlson of the left is so wild to me.
Hahahahahahahha no he isn't. What a stupid comparison

I was about to disagree with you because I used to listen to Alex Jones 15 years ago, and I can attest that he sometimes reported stuff accurately, and he was sometimes worth listening to.

I love how Destiny's chat is like "But what about MUH per capita" when the point was to show how race had little to no reason for officer-involved shootings. Yes, there are more white people in the United States, but who commits more of the crime, black people. And from there we could go into a deep discussion as to why that's the case, but regardless this is besides the point
