gotta love goody 🥰 2011 i saw him play at 'battle in berlin'; a 10000$ offline tournament. he replaced whitera, who had visa issues or sumpin. he defeated tlo in quarters, which is funny because tlo really didn't like goody 🙃 goody was definitely the crowds favor, he got standing ovations and everybody was chanting his name. epic 😀 he ended up 2nd place, losing against nerchio.. brings back memories. tanks again!
Goody is such a nice Person. He teached me SC2 back then when i was hardstuck Gold as a Terran. Nice Guy who was really very good. Its a Shame that he is not Playing on Tournaments anymore. Only see him from Time to Time playing Ladder.
It is more than a story about sticking to a single strategy; it is a story about how a sharp mind can overcome technique and balance deficiencies. I wouldn't be surprised if Goody is a good chess player as well.
i remember getting him on ladder one time and thinking "free win" cause I've seen his mech lose so much vs pros. Then I get completely farmed and said ggwp to the panzer general! Amazing guy.
Absolutely loving the SC2 history videos! Great nostalgia trips, the videos are well done and it's very cool you're sharing your encyclopedic knowledge of SC2 history

For me, The Battle in Berlin semi-finals vs. Stephano in 2011 is an even better Goody moment. Similar to the NesTea match, it was also during Stephano's prime. However, this was an offline tournament. Still remember the German announcer screaming "GOOOOOODDDYYY!!!" whenever he won. The audience reaction was also just as over the top. One of the most funny/surreal esports moments I've ever watched. Too bad those broadcasts seem to be lost to time.
@@sergeigen1 The twitch vods are gone and the liquipedia page just links to youtube videos of the replays. If the original broadcast was uploaded to youtube somewhere, I can't find it.
That 60 APM included virtually zero wasted keystrokes. His EPM was only about half the other pros. Still amazing and as inspiration to Terrans everywhere!!
Im from Germany and i watched these weekly tournaments on justin TV casted by some guys and we were always rootinf for our Panzergeneral or TLO those werw the days ❤
Same here. Back in the days I hated mech play so much, even though it was considered bad at a higher level. Thanks are just incredible and one mistake, one bad engagement usually cost you the game when fighting siege tanks. And once your rook the first few shots, there is no turning back and you have to commit and hope for the best.
Didn't Koreans have to play on the NA server against EU players? Which was extremely laggy which is why EVERY Korean from Nestea to MVP did awful in TSL3.
Dude, your intro is insulting to those of us that follow the game from its beta. Goody was not some unknown player that you dug up - his game, his playstyle was well documented and there should still be plenty of videos of his games on tournaments. Yes, he never won anything and yes, he was a meme among pro players, but you don't guve the guy enough credit!
He was indeed a very well known player and I have immense respect for him, but the audience of this channel ( and sc2 in general ) consists of a lot of players who picked up the game after it got free to play, so they missed a lot of cool stories from previous periods
He's not unknown, hes famous from Harstem's "Is It IMBA Or Do I Suck" (IODIS) Series. He crushed some protoss wgo kept throwing units into his tank lines. :P

Fun fact about Goody: He is working at Airbus last I heard. That means he is even meching in real life.
The talent that Boeing needs that apparently is not willing to pay for.

Cool story, did not know about this, since I got into SC2 around 2016.

GoOdy gave us low APM peasants hope, I am genuinely stoked hes remembered so fondly after all these years.

I played against Goody in a Team Liquid open once - incredible player!
For some reason mech was my weakness to play against as a zerg player. Even when I was in master I could lose to people in platinum.

I love the idea of a Goody supply block.
So Goody was basically the Gumiho prototype? Really cool.
I loved that on some games the casters said "Goody has lost this game" and moments later his mech just starts to chopp down the enemy.
6:10 You'd think roaches were great for up-roaching the opponent xD
In the German esports back scene, Goody became a meme :P

i was there. fun fact i played a 1v1 vs goody (just for fun) - was pretty one sided ofc since i was only high diamond.
Not only was he slow, he also had to look on his keyboard sometime, to not hit the wrong key lmao. 2:12

Very good, now I have justification to just stick with Immortal/Voidray and pretend it's not bad :D
I remember rooting for the panzer tarren a few times
