The amount of times Harstem says, "I can't play the same build twice, they will blind counter me. I'm 100% sure," only to play into a no scout is impressive.
If you were a sadist, you'd have tried a pause to clean up the spill. Imagine allowing your opponent to pause the game for 2 minutes, then getting destroyed by 5 marauders before the 3 minute mark. These are the kinds of things that destroy keyboards. You sacrificed that patch of carpet for the good of mankind, Harstem.
Hastem I can confirm, I’ve basically just played the campaign 10 years ago and watch your content, but I ran this build for 5 placement games and got placed into gold. I’ve never played ranked before and my micro is horrible. Literally every game is a win immediately or a delayed win where I double expand while he’s contained to 1 base
Harstem is probably the best player that I can actually relate to. Not that I could ever play as quickly or precisely or intelligently, don't get me wrong, it's just that he will describe a build perfectly, and then also fail to execute it. That's most of my experience when I still pretended to try to play.
structures have the same line of sight than an overlord, the scv was barely visible, i guess scv did not had enough line of sight to be able to spot the structures; not even m2 misses lil spots on map let alone aplayer of the caliber of lambo, imo. Maybe im wrong.
Lambo, bless his heart, I've never seen him leave a game without gg'ing, he always ggs, especially vs a teammate... Everybody else in the video though... No gg, or pause before leaving. Lol
What a good guy in the second game; Harstem is talking to the audience at 5:03 about getting a pause so that he can fix his carpet. Then at 7:17 the guy actually pauses, even without Harstem asking!
11:12 our boy Harstem forgot that Reapers can skirmish and heal! Also if they have the upper ground they could get some damage without getting any in return.
3.2k protoss here. Most people my level have 2 gas for proxy marauder so if i scout 2 gas proxy i usually immediately throw down a stargate as it shuts down reapers and marauders
Getting bailed out by the patch then, as 2 gas in the previous patch made an armory minedrop very likely and if you make a blind voidray you are kinda dead.
3800 toss here. This is actually a good call, but get adept first to confirm they didn't expand and also you might be able to hunt down the scv building the 2nd rax. Stargate anyways takes 2:30ish so you might as well sac ethe gas and get an adept and a zealot if you scout in time, zealot can tant marauders dmg@@Fimbu1vetr

The craziest thing about proxy marauders is that it's decently likely to win even after it gets scouted it works fairly often. It hits fast and it's difficult to deal with because conc shells stops micro (Except for Zerg, who can deal with it just fine by pumping lings).
Inspired by these videos I tried proxy-maraudering. Protosses just go probe-scout 1-base zealot-forge-cannon-stargate on my level. I have no clue how proxy marauder is supposed to win in that situation.
Game on 20:00. Harstem is so surprised that the opponent is not scouting. I guess, the opponent just did not realise that he plays against the same player the second time.
How do you deal with it as Protoss? I always die to 2 rax proxy Marauders + concussive and 2 Robo Proxy Immortals even if I scout them. Stalkers simply suck. My early game sucks, true fact. I lose almost all my games to this kind of strats.
I love lower level players (gold/plat) trying this build. They always fuck it up and attack way to late to the point I have a tank out on the high ground. It’s always piling up like 6-8 marauders before they go instead of with the first 1+SCVs and two more incoming for back up. They never fly back home so the first single medivac drop and a lib end the game 90% of the time.
For Terran: early scout, wall-off, bunker with marines on the high ground and some scv to repair. Once you have a tank its over. Or rush for banshee if you do 1:1:1
For Protoss (at my level at least Dia2):I scout around my base , and if i spot it, first i defend with adepts/battey , then i just go for void rays, and either i win the game or im massively ahead. There might be a scary moment just before the void rays comes out when the terran might have enough marauders to kill the adepts/batteries, but the void ray should arrive fast enough to not loose anything vital like probes or nexus. I think I also build zealot first, just to buy time before adept.
1:37 - the look on harstem's face is the same look i had on my face when i was caught going 98mph in a 65mph zone. i remember it vividly.. i actually made eye contact with the state trooper and our eyes followed one-another as i zoomed past. i'll never forget that moment.. i was just like, "ah.. oohhh.. aw shit.. damn." and pulled over, grabbed my license and registration, put my window down, and held them outside the window before he even pulled out onto the highway and turned his lights on. the more i'm talking about it, the more details i'm remembering.. dang, i should write a story about this, lol. i started this comment out to make a joke, and then bllleaerrrghh all these words spilled out. and now that they're all written up, it feels like it'd be a tragic waste to discard the comment. so, now, you all get to read my speeding ticket story and why i'm just like an sc2 pro player because of it! muha.. muhaha... muuuhahahahahaahahaaaa
Yeah, i was saying this for quite a while: Marauders are too much of a can-do-most-of-it-unit, at least in TvP and early game especially. To beat marauder-heavy armies as toss, you also need pretty specific unit compositions which still can easily lose you games while a marauder-heavy army is pretty easy to control. On the other hand, the same can be said for immortals and potentially even more so. The immortal is so insanely good vs. everything on the ground it feels like a waste to not build it. I've seen quite a few recent pro games in which they DID build a lot of immortals and often it went pretty well too :D
As a toss main that sucks at Terran, this is much harder than it looks to micro. But it did get me to ~200 MMR higher than my peak with relatively low effort, ty Captain
Reminds me of the hammer build with wall rax marauder into 3 a Maraude 1 2 naked mines push against protoss, devastating build that can make anyone rage quit, triple expand after that or just expand and have an easy time. 😊

I have met this many, many times on my Diamond level and I have no clue - most of the times it is a lose unless T has no brain and screws up badly. If you drop multiple batteries and pylons, T just walks uphill and you have no way of stopping him. If you rush stargate, you are usually too late anyway or T just adds a couple of marines to get the voids down. If you cut probes to try to scout it, you are too far behind with eco. To me, Marauders are one of the biggest imbas in T, especially in TvP.

Scout early, if the T messed up the timing you might be able to throw you Nexus and drop 2 batteries. Rush Stargate. Get a zealot before cybercore to take the damage. If the T didn't mess the timing or build you might as well delay your nexus and play the ramp with overcharge battery and stalkers, rush Stargate. You only have to hold the first marauders and after it becomes easier. Don't lose your stalker!!!

(maybe sacrifice a few workers for supply or try to proxy a supply depot and supply drop after landing the floating orbital for a second. Then fight with all his workers, 10 reaper 4 marines vs 7 marauders. sounds like a win to me or atleast a contain maybe so he can float his base somewhere else. And if you move out 100 granades and SCVs fighting. (just mule new base and marines)

This build will always work. As long as you have tens of thousands of experience, play it perfectly without any mistakes, and your opponent doesn't scout it. Unfortunately for the other 99.999% of people like me if you try this you will likely fail. Fun to watch though.
tried this once against a terran. He scouted me right away, and just made a bunker..... It was GG at that point. When harstem does it it works every time. I hate my life
The marauders would own the reapers too hard. Eventually he can split his marauders to keep him from landing his but defend his own while he uses mules to get back in the game.
@@christopherjohnson2171 Yes, and no? Problem is, Harstem didn't have any bank and not quite enough Marauders to do a split, so it kinda becomes a catch 22. Do you protect your mules or keep the other guys' base lifted? If you try both, you just get defeated in detail.
and it will be well deserved. If the balance council is still working, imo this should be one of their main priorities. Marauders are waaaay too cost effective.

@@erasorz @erasorz yes the shield battery can heal buildings like pylons too if the player manually tells the battery to heal a pylon.I'm not sure what you mean by 100 and 150 hp; a pylon has 200 hp/200 shields. But a battery starts with 100 energy, and each energy heals 3 shields. So if Harstem goes for the pylon instead, it effectively has 700 hp (200/200 + 300 shields from the shield battery) + another battery finishing soon

youre too slow with it, shouldnt have all of that by the time your first marauders are out.
if you've contained them on one base you just get yourself on two base and tech /out-macro them

I've seen some version of this build down in gold. It worked on my Gold NA Protoss self very well.

That last one Gabes thing with 3 siege tank push is how I loose to Terrans in Dia 3 regularly.
would it not better to go for a proxy racks and factory as you invest in gas and mine it with less scv's. so marauders with 1 cyclone with it

@@christopherjohnson2171 Yes, and no? Problem is, Harstem didn't have any bank and not quite enough Marauders to do a split, so it kinda becomes a catch 22. Do you protect your mules or keep the other guys' base lifted? If you try both, you just get defeated in detail.

I think back in the day they only had 100hp and had an upgrade that gave them the +25
and it will be well deserved. If the balance council is still working, imo this should be one of their main priorities. Marauders are waaaay too cost effective.
Second game : why not focus fire the pylon instead of killing the 3 batteries ?
Id guess he assumes the toss will heal the pylon

@@erasorz @erasorz yes the shield battery can heal buildings like pylons too if the player manually tells the battery to heal a pylon.I'm not sure what you mean by 100 and 150 hp; a pylon has 200 hp/200 shields. But a battery starts with 100 energy, and each energy heals 3 shields.
So if Harstem goes for the pylon instead, it effectively has 700 hp (200/200 + 300 shields from the shield battery) + another battery finishing soon
