Hello Nora, I appreciate the split screen for more close-up view so we can clearly see the 2 sides when you provide the instruction. Thank you for always being so generous with tips and tricks to make our plant babies happy. As much as I want to volunteer as your assistant, I can't as I am from the other side of the globe from AU. Sending you good vibes from CA. Cheers! Happy Planting.
I reckon you're the best remedy for depression Nora! You made my day with this one! Your excitement and enthusiasm got me out of my gloomy slump today due to it being grey and too wet to pot outside) and I appreciate you doing the 'leg work' for us. So glad it was a success and will definitely be trialling this method on my Florida Ghosts ( yes I have 2....went back to Flower Power and bought another one before they disappear at the bargain price of 25 bucks each 😱) Your Ghost is absolutely breathtaking...those white leaves are to die for!!! Your passion and commitment are certainly paying off 🤩
Totally agree! That would be awesome. Stop giving me ideas!!! I have a green one, I think I might just add it to this plant! Is that a video you would like to see?
I bought my first ghost just the other day. But most of what I’ve researched said that the white leaves would disappear. You have proved that wrong with your gorgeous specimen. Do you have a video on how to get those leaves. Would love to put it in my plant list. Your videos do lift the spirits as one commenter said. Keep up the good work. 👏🏼👍🏼
Beautiful Florida ghost. Will those leaves eventually turn brown? Great how to video. You area joy to watch. I have learned a great deal from your videos. Keep up the great work. 👍
Unfortunately, they will. It was vanity on my part. I just loved the look of the white leaves. The plant already has new growth points that it is putting out to sustain it and another reason I put an additional plant. All will be well in the end.
I love your excitement 💛 I also love aeration stones,I used them in my leca prop boxes and they sure do make a world of difference when your trying to get those roots to grow. Can't wait to see and hear an update on how this goes for you. I did find that using clear tubing attracts algae, so I have switched over to black tubing that you would use for a drip system outdoors and I have had absolutely no issues. I also live in Las Vegas where it is really hot and that could be the cause. I'm so excited for you and your Florida Ghost is absolutely stunning 😍
I imagine you don’t get much sleep at night brainstorming new ideas/inventions 🤣🤣 This is the most exciting video so far! Can’t wait for the update Nora! ❤️ Natalie
Glad you enjoyed it Natalie, I thought you might! Yes, my brain is constantly going. I have so many ideas, so little time and so little money to execute them all when I want to, which is NOW 😂😁😉
I've just ordered myself one after debating it for a while. Love the idea of these pots! So glad I found your vid when doing research on care ❤ I'm as excited as you haha
I have been wanting to try switching some of my plants to Leca but had absolutely no idea how to proceed. I’ve watched some of your videos and they are wonderful! I actually feel like i have enough information to give it a go. So we’ll done! Thank you! ❤
I love your enthusiastic risk-taking! I can't wait to know how the air pump/bubbler worked out. That's a stunning Florida Ghost, but then all your plants are beautiful. 😊 I'm a fan of Pon (sacrilege!) but I find your videos enjoyable and quite informative. Semi-hydro is a wonderful way to grow and your advice is perfectly relevant to people using any number of substrates. I watched your Long Method videos and they confirmed what I've started doing with all the plants I'm transitioning from soil. Woot! But the bubbler! I'm so excited by that bit of technology and the potential for incredible growth!
I love this video so much 💚🤩 you're enthusiasm is infectious and you are so funny 😁 💚 I just brought home a Florida beauty today and am looking for all the tips!
Stunning specimen! 😍 I would love one, but would be devastated when those beautiful big white leaves die back..also I heard they are really slow growers, and I have no patience for slow plants lol. Can I ask how long yours took to get to grow this lush and beautiful Nora?
I just love your enthusiasm in this video. I’d definitely be that excited if my Florida ghost was that big. 😂 I almost lost mine over the winter due to neglect but it’s bounced back and I hope mine is as big as yours one day. So magnificent! I’m interested to know how the air stone turned out. Are you still using it for the ghost?
I currently have a monstera albo that is in leca and began to get root rot. I’ve trimmed the rot multiple times, soaked it in a peroxide mix, and it just continues to rot! What can I do to save it?
Love this video! Been meaning to ask you where did you get your potting mat? Love the design. Adding the Florida Ghost to my “wishlist “. I so look forward to watching your videos. Keep them coming. Learning a lot from you 😊
Hi Nora, love the video, as always and that plant is absolutely stunning! Maybe i missed this - does the bottom third of leca apply to the self watering pot too? The inner pot does have ‘legs’ to give some gap. Thanks for your videos!
Hello, good to hear from you Appoolika, hope you are well. It does have legs but my understanding is that is what creates the space for the reservoir. There are holes at the bottom of the pot to enable contact with the medium in the insert. I hope that makes sense. That is why it is important to keep the reservoir full and I am religiously keeping an eye on the indicator. I am glad you enjoyed the video. I was very nervous about this one.
@@TheLecaQueen Thanks so much! Probably a question for sometime later - do you think a wick makes a self watering pot better? Waiting for the update on this project ❤
Wow. Roots on the plant look great. Aeration of semi hydroponic system- I have seen it for the first time. I feel lost. So I believe, you must have put aeration pipe in the lower portion where nutrition is. If the nutrition rises through capillary action in leca, what is getting aerated and how does it help. My understanding is thatI if roots are in fully hydroponic system, then aeration will help. But how does it help on leca system. I feel confused.
Hello Manju, thank you as always for watching and commenting. The aeration that I am doing is to aerate the nutrient solution not necessarily the roots. The air stone is sitting in the nutrient solution and I can hear it bubbling away. I created the ventilation holes in the insert to provide airflow to the roots. When using semi hydro the oxygen in the nutrient solution gets depleted and this negatively impacts growth. I am adding more air to the solution. I hope this makes sense.
Hi Nora, from Aotearoa-New Zealand! I could reeeally use your help. I'm so frustrated with my florida ghost: it has dozens of small leaves - most are fully shaped as if mature, and the color is right. However they're all between 75-100mm(3-4 inches), and there is essentially node internode - leaf after leaf after leaf after leaf, all jammed together. I've tried less light, but that doesn't seem to help. I use a very airy growing mix which is very successful with all my other aroids. Any advice as to how to have less & larger leaves? I got it as a cutting about 18 months ago - a nice large leaf. it's on a heat mat, turned off on hot days. Loads of bright light, and I have humidifiers that ensure the room remains around 50-70% humidity.
Every time i repot one of my plants in leca (just upgrading pot size) the roots start to rot/die off. What should i do? Boil the leca before use, or use hydrogen peroxid to spray the roots? Do you have any advice? Luckily some of them grow them back fast, but i also lose nice leaves because of the root damage. whelp 😩
Hello, you certainly must be using clean leca that has been sterilised as a start. You could use Hydrogen peroxide as well, 3% diluted, maybe soak the pant in that for sometime before you repot. I would also recommend removing any dead or dying roots before the repot. Hope this helps.
This is the prettiest florida ghost ive ever seen! Those pink stems, it has great genetics
It really is!

WhOot WhOoT !!! SIMPLY AWESOME, LECA Queen !!! I'm gonna try this on my next EXPENSIVE plant !!!
Glad you like it Alex! Must have you over for my next big project.
@@TheLecaQueen Definitely, Dear Nora, it would be my pleasure 😇😘
Perfect plant to add an air stone! Love those white leaves.
Thank you. Now to watch it grow!!!!
Imagine having a green and a ghost on the same pole, I have a green and it grows so fast! Definitely one of the best beginner plants !!!!!!

Does it maybe need more light? Are you fertilising?
