Outstanding video, Nora. You give excellent instruction. This information helped me so much. (I watch your videos numerous times lol.) I enjoy your presentations immensely. Thank you! Bless you abundantly, you have blessed so many of us. 💚
I'm amazed the plant can take so much rough handling. I heard roots do not like to be exposed to air or light. But maybe hydroponics has completely different rules? Thank you for this lesson. May your plants live long and prosper. ♥
Hi Nora, thank you for sharing this other option for attaching the green pole to the pot, Bec I've often thought about it, but wasn't exactly sure how to go about it, so now I'm in the know, 🌹❣️ as always, I luv all ur vids, and I'm always learning something new to do, I must reiterate, the very best thing I've learned is to make a "D" shape moss pole, instead of a round one, it makes more logical sense with helping the root system to grow better, and of course bigger leaves as it climbs,🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
What timing! Exactly what I was looking for. I got a tiny monstera deliciosa with just two leaves but it had a ton of roots inside the pot it came in. I was wondering how to cut back some of the roots.
Love your hair ❤️ You always look soo gorgeous. This video was soo helpful. My monsteras roots are soo enormous..😰 I feel to badly to cut their roots though.. but I’m afraid I’m forced too. 🥺 I’ve been scared to do it cos the roots are soo healthy. My largest monstera is “large form leaves” and omg it’s blown up soo big..😍🥰🤩 I literally can Not even pick it up by myself anymore.🤦🏼♀️😰 I feel like a proud plant mom but it’s like when you get a pet dog and he gets way larger then you thought he would and no longer can pick up your pet.😂😂😂 this video helps soo much. I’m now confident enough to give him a good triming..
You inspired me to check on the roots of a bunch of my plants. So many of them had dead bits and excessively long pieces that I pruned back. Thanks for the video!!
I've got a mosspole question. Do your mosspoles ever get fungus gnats? What do you do to not get fungus gnats on them? any tips or advice? I tranfered my plants to LECA to get rid of the fungus gnats but when I got a mosspole they seemed to have comeback. Any help is greatly apprecited!
My vaburnum is getting root bound, can I take it out of the pot, chop the roots back and put back without it dying, I would be grateful for any advice, thank you. 🐞🌺💕.
Sweet video!!💯. I’m transplanting some plants. Had to google this came up, so informative and your DIY moss pole out standing. I did subscribe. Thank you for sharing. 💕💕💯💯🤗🤗🤗🤭🤭
Ms. Nora, I love your hair. It's too cute! May I ask you to do a video on the size of pots to use? When plants are in soil, they are usually in big pots. When I converted to Leca and used the same sized pots, it seemed that the pots were too big. Any suggestions on the correct pot size? I know it depends on the size of the plant
A pot should be sized for the rootball, not the foliage. Most people use far too large of pots and that leads to root rot. It should only be an 1-2” bigger than the rootball and you only size up 1-2” when it’s ready to be repotted.
thanks as always for the informative videos. would love to see an update of the new growth after trimming -- i've been told that the plant can put out smaller leaves after root damage. have you noticed anything like that?
Found this video at last Nora. I'll keep it in my 'Houseplant' folder for reference. I have my baby MTC and am trying to learn as much as I can regarding its care and and desperately trying my best to avoid root and stem rot (which I understand it's prone to). It's still in a 3ins nursery pot with a fairly chunky aroid mix. I've become a chronic over-waterer because I really don't want to lose it. Have you done an updates on this one???
Hey, that is a question that calls for an answer with a lot of caveats. The reservoir that you are using and how much nutrient solution you have in there along with the conditions in your home such as humidity, temperature and growth season etc will determine how much water/nutrient solution will be available to the plant. If you take these things into account then yeah 2 weeks is a very doable time frame.
@@TheLecaQueen Thank you! So even if the pole dries out in between? it’s fairly dry in Denver and while I’m here I run humidifiers nonstop, but they run out of water when I leave.
Hello, I get them from our local Bunnings but you can get some here: CLEAR SEMI HYDRO POTS amzn.to/3jnLRvN (USA) amzn.to/3jrgXCM (USA) amzn.to/3JuT9rW (USA) amzn.to/3xiDuK3 (AUSTRALIA) amzn.to/3rg44zy (AUSTRALIA) amzn.to/3O0aywm (AUSTRALIA)
Got a 12 inch pot with rootbound pothos...it's one big mold with no soil. I might need a hammer...girdled roots thick as a pencil! Soaking in a 6 gallon bucket has loosened a couple of roots but its still a giant mass.
Probably the roots being cramped together means exponentially reduced surface area actually touching what nutrients is in their potted stuff. It's like suffocation

Jessica, you are too kind. Thank you. Good luck with your Monster Monstera!
Thank you! Is it necessary to keep so many roots? Meaning could u cut most off?
You should never cut more than 20-30% or the plant will struggle to recover.
Love your videos
Thank you so much!! Channeling my inner Princess Leia!😂😂
Thank you so much for your videos. As a newbie plant parent, I get so many tips and tricks from each of your videos ☺️

@@TheLecaQueen excellent 👌🏾 👏🏾
So I am 2 weeks in CA and 2weeks in CO every month. I have plants in both places. Do you think leca would hold enough water for 2 weeks?

Thank you for making this video, I certainly hope my Thai Con gets as gorgeous a root system as yours 😆

First one here 😌 !!
Why exactly rootbount plant doesnt take nutrients? What is the mechanism?
Probably the roots being cramped together means exponentially reduced surface area actually touching what nutrients is in their potted stuff. It's like suffocation
😉😉
I accidentally cut all of the roots off my monstera above the big node. Did I kill it?
I want to say probably not, without being able to see your plant
@@TheLecaQueen I was told to water root them so I am doing that now!!
I literally stopped to watch because of the beautiful hands and nail colour. No wonder the plants are happy.
You are too kind and funny!!
