@@martyc5674 Yes. I did replace the PCV, but it was clean and rattling - so I didn't think that was it. What I did was, oil change with the stock Toyota 0W50, and drove it really hard. I drove in first gear all over town for a few days, putting the RPMs into the limit of the allowed range. And, after the next oil change a few months later the loss of oil stopped.
@@martyc5674 I don't remember the rate of loss. I think 3 months after I bought the car, the oil warning sounded and the dipstick was dry. So it was a fast rate. My thinking was the car was 12 years old and had only driven 50k miles. I think it must have spent years not getting fully up to temperature, and possibly being filled with poor quality motor oil. I suspected that one or more piston seal rings was gunked up and not moving properly. I was going to do something invasive like ua-cam.com/video/Uy_GcE7pxjM/v-deo.html&ab_channel=JoelAutomotiveInaction I was inspired by ua-cam.com/video/7Ef2hYmcZzA/v-deo.html and one other video by a Russian/Ukrainian guy (now deleted) who decided to to frequent oil changes with high quality oil to clean out the engine. I tried that first and it worked.

To really clean these, spray in some Tar remover first, let that soak for a bit, then clean out with brake cleaner - the tar remover breaks down the heavy crud very few other sprays really touch, the brake cleaner flushes out the residue.
is it fix low idle problem? it vibrates when engine is warm and working noisy. 2017 1.33 engine. same as 1nr fe code. hope this cleaning helps for smooth and silent idle
Awesome video I am going to clean it when i do my next service as i have never cleaned it before and i have done 70 000km as My Toyota Auris with the same engine is currently sitting on 250 000km with no issues. 2 weeks ago when i inspected my spark plugs, i noticed that they are oily and i am not sure if i need to replace the plug tube seals as the tips of the Plugs are clean with no oil. Car doesn't smoke, no power loss and fuel consumption is still good.
thanks for viewing..if the oil is on the body of the spark plug not on the electrode, maybe your cylinder head cover gasket is leaking, you need to replace it..

Its better to clean with brake cleaner, it will dry quickly and remove the oil inside the pcv..thanks for viewing
i wouldnt both cleaning it - a replacement pcv valve part is not much more expensive than the can of cleaner...
