@@csnide6702Yes he was excellent in Scarface, too. So coincidental that Don Eladio (Steven Bauer) also plays Manny Ribera, Pacino’s sidekick in Scarface.
One thing I love about this scene, and also the scene where Hector flips out about Tuco stabbing someone inside, is Hector's constant exasperation with Tuco. The guy's a liability. Hector knows it, the other Salamancas know it, and so do Eladio and Bolsa. Hector doesn't want him out of jail entirely, just a reduced sentence, sorta like "Yeah, the kid's a liability and we're all sick of it."
Hector is not being respectable or even reasonable here. He’s telling Mike to take on a charge for the benefit of the man that beat him up. Under the assumption that they’ll go easy on him. Which by the way is a veiled threat since it’s him subtly telling Mike that he’s looked into him. While only offering $5,000 even though he could literally offer Mike $500,000 and it’d make no difference to the money he has. $5,000 to Hector is like ¢5 to everyone else. This just highlights Hector’s complete lack of respect, like how he treats everyone in the cartel not named Salamanca. As well as his incompetency with how he thought Mike would agree to this awful deal. Like how he thought a rundown auto shop could move as much product as Los Pollos Hermanos.
The level of brutality committed by the sociopathic and psychotic Don Eladio and Hector kind of makes me question how the Cartel was founded in the first place. They are too brutal for anyone to join the cartel or work with them. If Gus Fring was the one who founded the Cartel, which he did not, then it would have made tons of sense. Despite this, their level of brutality and how Gus paid no consequence towards the Cartel's gradual downfall kind of shows how much the other criminal organizations hate the latter.

We all knew Hector was going to show up eventually on this show and the way they introduced him here was pure genius. They made us wait a season and then the cinematography of his entrance, excellent.
A man like Hector Salamanca sitting with anyone being polite and calm, knowing that Mike is an ex cop speaks volumes for how he views Mike. Knowing who Mike is, he must also realize he would respond better if treated that way. Mikes a man of steel and always becomes tempered when pressed. Salamanca undoubtedly got his threats across in this scene, but not in the usual Salamanca manner.

This scene and the scene where Mike negotiates with Hector is night and day, literally. In this scene, Hector wears white and acts like he is fragile based on his body language and speech (leaning forward, doing a lot of hand gestures and some stuttering). On the other scene, Hector wears black and his demeanor changes into cold confidence (leaning back, no stutters, and little to no hand movements). So much nice attention to detail.
Mike sighs with an annoyed look before Hector ever even entered the building. As if he was not looking forward to this conversation. It’s clear Mike knew he was being tracked and followed by the Salamanca’s.
I’ll always regret that we never got to witness Hector and Tuco verbally interact with one another. I wonder just how much Hector could keep Tuco in line.
@@finger420 Ohhh yes! Lalo told Hector that he would keep Tuco straight. I would love to have seen that interaction. Lalo is tough, and has a lot of moxie. But he’d have his hands full with Tuco.
@@GeneralSirDouglasMcA I would love to see a scene with all of the Salamanca’s interacting. Hector, Lalo, Tuco and the twins. They are all so different but similar at the same time. Missed opportunity
In hindsight, it would have been so much better for the Salamanca family if instead of Hector, Lalo came North after Tuco was arrested . Lalo probably would have been more diplomatic with Mike here, and certainly wouldn't have done something that could make Mike angry and target the Salamanca family, which is what Hector ended up doing when he sent the twins after Mike's granddaughter. And Lalo certainly would have been more cautious with Gus, and wouldn't have gotten the Salamancas into a situation where they had to rely on Gus' network to move their product to the North. So yeah, after Tuco got arrested, Hector should have stayed in Mexico and Lalo should have come to the USA.

An apology with reason added to it is not an apology. This is what I learned from the comment section of this video. Great tip.
If you walked in there and didn't know anyone you would think these are the two most helpless people at the diner lol

Lesson for everyone.
He doesn't say thank you when the waitress gives him the coffee
@@jonathanrhodes8525 Well of course he wouldn't, guy's a mob boss.
@@ablorenz I understand that, but previous commenters suggested he was respectful!
I love that there's bell like noises throughout the show. Constantly makes you wonder if this'll be the episode where hector meets the inevitable. Sometimes it's an actual service bell, others it's just Mike hammering a spike before he robs hector's truck but no matter what, there's always that haunting "ding" that reminds you of hector's fate
As per Salamanca's standards, that was a pretty good deal
I love how rude he is with the waitress, doesn't even acknowledge her.
But he did tip her $10.
@@guybyars8181Some people just tip 10 or 20% out of whatever their meal costed. I can't imagine tipping someone just one or two dollars..
I'd take money over kindness anyday.
That's because the other side of the "respect your elders" coin, in a world of relativity is "disrespect your youngers", we see it everywhere.
This is the moment that Mike got an apology
We all knew Hector was going to show up eventually on this show and the way they introduced him here was pure genius. They made us wait a season and then the cinematography of his entrance, excellent.
2:57 would’ve definitely loved to seen a scene of Tuco being forced to calmly apologize 😂
Salamanca undoubtedly got his threats across in this scene, but not in the usual Salamanca manner.
i mean he wasn’t that polite
This has to be one of my all time favorite scenes from BCS. The bell at the beginning is a masterpiece as a character introduction.
no kidding, LoL 😂
Fran and Mike never shacking up is just as infuriating as watching Walt kill him. Maybe more
Who is that Hector guy? His face really rings a bell!
He was Sosa's hit man, in "Scarface".
This is the best comment ever.
He’s Ventura’s landlord.
I think I was the only one who was interested in the atmosphere of the restaurant and the view from the window. It was a sunny day and the weather was wonderful.❤
Genuinely shocked to see Hector here, hope he takes his medicine and lives a happy life
Long live Don Hector🛎👴🏼💊
@@kudziekay13 Last chance to look at me Hector.
I certainly hope he doesn't explode at some point.
If you were just shocked? Would it be genuine? Do you constantly lie? And have to preface all your statements with genuinely?
I genuinely lie constantly, but honestly, since I am actually stupid, I personally believe that I need to use adjectives to, certainly prove my point?
Mike's anger at the end of this scene is directed toward himself I think. He knows he messed up and now he's put himself in a bad situation.
A situation that’d lead him to Gus.
Yup, he was playing chess in the dark but he misidentified the Rook for a King. Now he meets the King and he realizes he opened up a can of worms he didn’t expect.
I think Hector really meant it when he said Tuco should have respected him. His culture is very big on respect for the elderly and I think Hector was genuinely ashamed of Tuco's behavior and he really did twist his ears for it.
Yeah and Hector might’ve sent Tuco to his room without dinner for smashing his friend to death with his fists
I agree. This was such a stupid thing for Tuco to get involved in.
Do people realized tuco were
weren't the most respected salamancas. Even eduardo were called as Don. Tuco, not so much. Im pretty sure that somewhat hector means to let him stays in jail. For any reason, battery can still be bailed, huh?
But no, Don hector didn't bother to do so. Remember as batshit as he is, he is the very same guy who put the head of marco under water for annoying his twins. When they are about 10. Huh????
The bell ringing in the beginning was a nice touch!
two great actors ~ hector adjusting his pants before entering the booth, and mike always containing his seething rage
@3:10 "I'm looking for the best possible outcome for everybody. And, for your trouble, you take home $5,000. Think about it."
What superb acting.
That's the most polite hector ever been
RIP Mark Margolis (legend)
I love the addition of the bell. Gives the breaking bad views a little laugh and callback lol
I dont know what it is, but I could listen to Hector and Mike talk all day. It's like criminal ASMR
I love how Mike gets upset at the end. He just stumbled upon the real big threat and he knows it.
Rest in Peace, Mark Margolis
As soon as the bell rung, i knew hector was coming. Damn they love foreshadowing
Rest in Peace Mark Margolis. You were fantastic as this legendary character. Thanks man. If it wasn't for you, both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul wouldn't have been this successful with your iconic character, Tio Salamanca.
"I am looking for the best possible outcome for everybody" says it all. It's a treat.

So this is what old people talk about
03:25 Actor was looking for a handle. Good recovery.
Good catch
1:52 Did she hand him a hot cup of coffee while holding the handle? Instead of just putting it on the table?
The opening sound is foreshadowing.
One of the best scenes of BB.
That look on Mike’s face at the end, the frustration of him knowing he doesn’t really have a choice
As soon as I heard the ding, I knew he was appearing
I’ll always regret that we never got to witness Hector and Tuco verbally interact with one another. I wonder just how much Hector could keep Tuco in line.
Same goes for Lalo
@@finger420 Ohhh yes! Lalo told Hector that he would keep Tuco straight. I would love to have seen that interaction. Lalo is tough, and has a lot of moxie. But he’d have his hands full with Tuco.
@@GeneralSirDouglasMcA I would love to see a scene with all of the Salamanca’s interacting. Hector, Lalo, Tuco and the twins. They are all so different but similar at the same time. Missed opportunity
They have in breaking bad
0:06 Bell rings in the diner right before Hector Salamanca walks in. Excellent nod to Breaking Bad.
This is the moment when Hector became...
Ah hell. I got nothing. I'm sure someone became someone though.
It’s a miracle!!! Hector Salamanca can talk! I get the feeling this guy is gonna live a long and very healthy life
In hindsight, it would have been so much better for the Salamanca family if instead of Hector, Lalo came North after Tuco was arrested .
Bell: "Ring!"
Hector Salamanca Spawns
I like Hectors accent when he speaks english.
