  • At a remote location, after Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) and Hector (Mark Margolis) receive news that Los Pollos Hermanos trucks will be the cartel's main transport, Hector becomes furious; he smashes the phone and leaves.
    WATCH Better Call Saul HERE:
    play.google.com/store/tv/show...
    From Season 3, Episode 9: "Fall"
    He wasn't always Saul Goodman, ace attorney for chemist-turned-meth dealer Walter White. Six years before he begins to represent Albuquerque's most notorious criminal, Goodman is Jimmy McGill, a small-time attorney hustling to make a name for himself. He's a forceful champion for his low-income clients, an underdog whose morals and ambitions often clash. Jimmy works with private eye Mike Ehrmantraut, a former Philadelphia cop and recent transplant to the Southwest. Mike has a specialized skill set -- he's a "fixer" of sticky situations -- that Jimmy soon learns to appreciate.

      Hector not only forced the routes onto Gustavo; he intimidated his entire restaurant staff, deliberately sat in Fring’s office, and blatantly peeled sh*t off his shoe onto Fring’s desk.
      Hector wanted to insult Fring & make him feel powerless by forcing him to move his product.
      …and cunning Gustavo Fring made himself appear outwardly apprehensive & compliant; when secretly this was EXACTLY what he wanted Hector to do.

Find someone to play a young hector, and the whole crew making their mark in the criminal underworld. The can call it “ Michoacán “ I would personally would pay to watch it. Could you imagine ? Personally, I feel like Gilligan flew as close to the sun as he could have without going up in flames with BCS... Having the audience imagine entire stories based on narrative implications(like little things that are mentioned or hinted at) is a product of rich and thoughtful storytelling, but it doesn't mean it could carry an entire show or movie. Gus's past is another thing that is lightly touched upon a couple of times, but sometimes it's more interesting to speculate, discuss and theorize rather than have a whole show or movie that just lays it all out.
      See: Prometheus, Solo, Star Wars prequel trilogy, The Many Saints of Newark, etc...
      Though I suppose if anyone could pull it off, it's Vince Gilligan!

      @@DunklerZebralord EXACTLY. I know it’s a fictional show but I think it’s based on a real type of cartel. I mean that IS where the super meth comes from. Also I know a Mexican in Tennessee……… well KNEW…….. long story, but he would make trips to Texas once a month and come back to Tennessee with literally 2 TRASH BAGS……( seriously the big ass black trash bags…. 2 of em every month ) stuff as much as they possibly could be with kilos of the Mexican super meth…… hard story to believe, but I have SEVERAL people that will tell the exact story. My dude Manuel. Biggest drug dealer I ever met. One time a month when he got back his house would have like 50 people come in a 2 days period every 1st or 2nd of the month. Then nothing until about the third week of the month he would have the same ( estimated ) 50 people would come over throughout the week, walk in the house with duffle bags and walk out worth nothing. Then he would make his trip to Texas again. One of the coolest neighbors I’ve ever had. That man seriously was sending a million or more a month across the border. And like I said he worked all together about a week out of the month. He had a wife that owned a strip club and was funneling his money through there. I’ve heard conflicting stories about him, I heard the feds finally got him, then I heard he got killed by someone in America, then I heard the cartel in Mexico killed him….. then the last ( and hopefully true ) story I heard was him and his wife sold the strip club, took all their money and bought a farm wayyyyyyyyuu out in the beautiful country side of Mexico and they live like king and queen and never have to worry about money for the rest of their lives. I lived next to Manuel for about 3 years and he had already lived in his house when I moved in and I would see the traffic for about 3 or 4 days a month. I can’t imagine how much money he had. This was back from 2009-2013. Seriously the biggest drug dealer I ever met. Never seen him sell to any junkies or anything like that. Just dudes driving nice vehicles with duffle bags. My man was a REAL duffle bag boy.

While Vince and probably do it, I feel like the show wouldn't be as good as these two, because it would constricted by plot armor, like BCS was to some extent. I feel he had more room to play here because the main characters of BB(Walt and Jesse) were not playing any significant role in this series. I can't help but feel Lalo had a lot more story left in him, but he had to go due to the plot armor Gus had. With the added baggage of the storylines from BCS and BB, each new prequel would get harder to construct like and original show.

    In the late 90s, a young Vince Gilligan had a hot date planned for the weekend but his car had a flat tire. He tried to call his girlfriend and tell her he wasn't going to make it, but his cell phone had no service. She thought he stood her up, and broke up with him the next day. Vince swore in that moment that he would dedicate the rest of his life to the violent destruction of flip phones.

      He meant how everyone in the cartel will move their product with Gus's trucks from now on, instead of using their own mules

    • @CP-hn1zy
      @CP-hn1zy 3 місяці тому +7

      The cartel is, like the name implies, actually a sort of alliance or confederation of mostly independent operations under certain “families”, all united under the big boss. Don Eladio sits atop them all, but Don Bolsa and Don Hector (presumably alongside other families) ran their own operations. Gus Fring isn’t Mexican, so he can’t be a member, let alone a Don, and is technically an associate of the cartel under Bolsa. That’s why we see so much of Bolsa acting as intermediary between Gus and the Cartel. This scene basically means that the big Don has granted more power and responsibility to the corrupted Bolsa operation dominated by Gus at the expense of a degree of the other families’ independence. Now, Gus doesn’t just move Bolsa’s product, he moves the product of the entire cartel and could theoretically hold that flow hostage if a conflict arose.

      It's worth noting that Hector had been using his ice cream company as his front, but Gus and Mike sabotaged his supply line and so Hector demanded to use Gus's trucks instead. This was a calculated move by Gus to weaken Hector's standing in the cartel and make him depend on Gus
      Hector didn't want this to be a permanent arrangement, only temporary until he could get his own front back up and running.
