Mike is a talented actor, he plays a very convincing old dude
Not a lot of people know this, but Jonathan Banks actually waited three decades so he'd be the correct age to play Mike. Real dedication to the craft!

Tuco being able to keep his cool this long is honestly impressive. Proud of you, Tuco. Abuelita would be so proud.
Abuelita had no idea how insane Tuco could be. She just knew him as the loving Mijo who takes care of her, but she had no idea what her Salamanca descendants were doing. Hell, even Lalo’s guys back in Chihuahua seemed to be oblivious to him getting bailed out after murdering a guy brutally.

It just depends on where you live, around here the response time is almost always under 5 minutes. Mike would probably know that before making the call, I'm sure he timed it very well.

You know, by Tuco's standards, he was being incredibly calm, collected, and respectful in the first half of this scene. That's the only time we get to see him this friendly, except for when he's around his Abuelita. 😂

Real life that would probably have gotten him shot. He was using deadly force on a senior citizen while robbing him. Plus he has a record, probably felonies, and they'd find his gun. In real life, assuming the cops didn't shoot him which they'd be in policy to do, he'd be lucky if he served only five years. More likely closer to ten before supervised release.

The fact that Mike is the one who gets punched but throughout the “fight” he’s still showing himself as physically superior to Tuco. Effortlessly smacking the gun out of his hand, keeping that iron grip on him and the pole to keep them there, oh I love it.
It's even more impressive that the same punches killed a guy half his age in Breaking Bad.

I don't think it's physical strength, I think it’s experience. Mike was a cop and Marine, he has much more combat experience than Tuco.

I think in terms of raw physical power Tuco might have Mike beaten by just a bit, and even then I think that’s only because he’s half his age and a methhead (which messes with your inhibitions, making you “stronger” by removing some of the failsafes your body has to keep you from overexerting and hurting yourself) it’s just that Mike is still superior in terms of experience and combat knowledge, I guess I thought “physically superior” fit well enough.

Can you imagine if Mike had offered Tuco his insurance information, and Tuco said "sounds good, let's exchange insurance information, who's got a pen? There you go, have a good day!" That would have thrown Mike for a loop.
Right before this scene Tuco says "That guy just hit my car" almost sounded like a innocent child, it felt so real like this guys plays a bad boy so well that deep inside is just this innocent boy protected by this beast on the outside
Mike shows just how cautious and street smart he is here. He effectively played Tuco like a fiddle, creating a situation he knew would provoke him, but makes Mike the one who gets labeled the victim who was being threatened and robbed by a gangster.
Tbf a retired, white old man (and a cop no less) getting into a tussle with a Latino (probably with some misdemeanors or felonies) would have had the cops, judge, and jury on his side almost no matter what he did

Yes - it's a complete delight. I mean, there is absolutely no redeeming quality to Tuco. He is a monster and he is dangerous. But Raymond shines and makes Tuco be likeable, which is extremely ironic. I would love to learn how Vince described Tuco in the script. I'm curious to know how much Raymond embedded within the character.
honestly this. One of the best moments for me in BB universe is when he showed up at the end of BCS episode 1. I literally gasped. I was so excited also so scared for Jimmy. We know how dangerous Tuco is. Loved that actor. Loved this series.

I like how Mike pretended to be a helpless old guy, but when he effortlessly slapped the gun out of Tuco's grasp, not to mention how firmly he grabbed Tuco's shirt like that, that right there showed Mike was someone you didn't want to mess with, even though he was probably at least 30 years older than his opponent.
If Mike had actually fought back, he may have not beaten Tuco, merely due to his age, but I have a feeling Tuco would've been sent to the hospital under intensive care, instead of jail.

Yeah, they gotta at least show him being released in preparation for the events of breaking bad. They'd be crazy not to have him in the last season even for a little bit.
Don't forget that Tuco is with Hector in BB. I assume after Tuco gets out he "calmy" and "politely" will get Hector out of his room. If they use the same angle as in BB outside the window (you know what I mean) that would be excellent foreshadowing for what's to come down the line.
@@ce3zy361 I'd like to see how he interacts with Gus. We never really got to see that in Breaking Bad and just because Tuco is so unpredictable at times I'd be surprised how he managed to show restraint with someone like Gus Fring who his family literally all hate

I am actually amazed at how restrained (relatively speaking) Tuco is here in, of all things, a situation where someone is _trying_ to aggravate him.
Imo it's because Tuco wants to establish dominance before revealing the crazy. When he establishes dominance, the crazy is intimidating, otherwise he might be laughed at or disrespected

Tuco was such a great character. He was terrifying, but he had charisma and he was always so much fun to watch. Raymond Cruz did an amazing job in that role!
He did, didn't he? Though, I remember somewhere that the role was kinda harmful to him or something. Probably the stress of having to play such a hard character.

Fun fact: when Johnathan Banks was on his way to the set to continue the filming, he accidentally hit the car of a narco who was there, the man in question started beating Jonathan Banks, Vince happened to be recoding at the moment and decided to keep the scene and changed a bit the script to make this scene match the story, truly one of the moments where Huell became Kim's feet , this is one of the series of all time

really felt like an eternity between season 5 and 6 right? I liked El Camino but I don't think it was worth it to delay Better Call Saul for it

@@aboithatsaboi182 I think he did it because if he hits Tuco back, it's a fight rather than assault. Mike clearly wanted to give Tuco a run for his money but if he did, the plan would be at risk for failing. They wanted to get Tuco behind bars for as long as possible
