Nice review, I've watched a few different reviews but I feel yours was the clearest in what the new gimbal offers. I did actually purchase the Ronin SC earlier this year. It's a great gimbal but the one thing I was a little dissapointed in was the active track. Trying to balance the camera with the phone on is pretty tricky and if you want to use an on board mic then it's impossible. So having the raveneye seems like a great addition. Plus the quick release plate. I think these two additions are enough for me to update. Many thanks,

The better portability is certainly something I would want. You can just chalk it up to health investments. My back and shoulders will be thanking me as soon as I get the RS2.
Probably the first electronic gimbal that I would be interested in getting 👊🏼
Not sure why you’ve been waiting. There isn’t anything seriously upgraded from this vs others. Plus the benefits from many electronic rigs are stellar in many ways. Get with the times dude!
@@ericjamesphotography watch the video on my channel of why I prefer a glidecam over an electronic gimbal. Not saying other gimbals aren’t great, just none of them have done it for me with my specific style of shooting and what I look for in a gimbal.
@@AeviumFilms I see where you coming from, but this gimbal is almost the same as the original ronin with a few improvements, which has been out for a while
Weebill S got it all in 2019...smaller, lighter, less expensive.

This thing is leaps and bounds better than the original ronin s... especially in the tracking and software improvements, etc. I guess if you dont fsre about that stuff then yeah,, not too much different.. but just the convience of all the features makes them actually useful.. The ronin s was good for its time but needed these upgrades.

the original Ronin s had a lot of problems that all bloggers say nothing about in their reviews, so I advise you not to rush to buy a new model from DJI, but wait for real customer reviews.

I feel like my original Ronin-S is more than enough and the Ronin S2 is a little too much of an upgrade for me. The RSC2 might be the perfect balance but I would be concerned that down the line I'd need a bigger one.
The tip about the zoom balancing is wrong. That’s because it assumes the zoom moves in linear way. Meanwhile the elements often move back and forth (in example: short on the wide end, long mid focal length then again short on long end) so the mid range position does not mean mid balance. Not to mention that some elements move internally freely in relation to the housing.
Thanks! After viewing like five reviews, I'm convinced. I'm a Ronin-S user, focusing mostly on travel, and it's always a pain to lug it around. Plus, it was always too time-consuming to take it off and rebalance it when I wanted to switch between pictures and videos. I was seriously considering switching to the Weebill S but DJI went all-out on this one!
Welcome to the future. This tech is much greater that old-school, or even our-days cinematographers could even imagine could possibly exist. Just awesome.

Nice review.... Have a couple questions. First, is it possible to attach the briefcase handle on the left side of the gimbal instead of the right side as you demonstrated? Reason is I would want to be able to attach a follow focus wheel to the right side rsa connector and be able to use the briefcase handle with my left hand as I use the follow focus wheel with my right hand. Thanks!
That small quick release is arca swiss so you can mount to arca Swiss tripod, and the larger one is a manfrotto plate.

So no link or info about the camwrap at the beginning? I googled and searched and can't find anything, I want a wrap now after seeing that. Do they actually exist?
My biggest issue I have with it is the tiny mounting quick-release plate and a bad lens support. Otherwise, it's great.

Do you need Raveneye to have the gimbal's monitor pick display your camera's monitor, or can that image be transmitted via the included usb cable?
Honestly the weight difference already sells it for me. When you’re adding a dslr with a fat lens then you want a monitor on the side the weight adds up to a good 10 lbs. plus it probably helps you stay steady longer.

You might not have known about it but I'm more excited for the 3D tracker they are coming out with the RS2. I think that would take the gimbal into "must buy" status for those without (and maybe with) cameras that autofocus.
What would you recommend for wedding videos? I was thinking about buying a Glidecam. Isn't it easier to switch focal length with a Glidecam?
Was lens or in-camera stabilization used during the stabilization test at 9:00?

So I’m definitely not upgrading, because I’ve had my ronin s for less than 3 months.
I think even if I had it since the release I stil wouldn’t upgrade.
The only thing I really care about is smooth as possible footage.

I'm in a similar boat in that I've has the SC for about 5 months. But I really like the active track and quick release as they are two areas that bugged me abotu the SC. I really liked the idea of the camera being able to track without me needing to pilot it but having to have your phone on top of the camera is way to time consuming and if you want to use a mic as well it becomes inpractical. But obvioulsy it's not cheap.

Hmmm, I wonder if you can use the vertical mount plate along with a universal L bracket to get the RED closer to the tilt motor.

Let me give you guys a really cool pointer. LOOK at the RRS plate they made for this which allows you to use a normal Arcaswiss plate or their L Plates on this gimbal. Excellent $85 which really increases the usability.

2:46 This is also handy if you buy a second battery. Before if you had two batteries you had to stop shooting to charge the other one. Obviously it wasn't an issue because who could empty 2 batteries on one shoot but still nice that they can now charge on their own.

Great video! I shoot with a battery grip, so my camera is too tall for a lot of gimbals for certain angles. Glad this design allows for larger camera bodies!

Looks like bad news for people like Edelkrone... Who is now buying their bulky camera heads? If you want to keep a subject in frame while filming from a slider you could just mount the RS2 onto the slider and the new tracking system will do the job...
I did not think of this, but that’s a really good point. I have a Edelkrone slider and Pan head, but for me the holy grail will be if the tracking system on the RS2 could lock onto an object for product videos.
Question from a newbie: Is there a way to attach this gimbal or any other type of gimbal to a chest or shoulder harness so I could walk with it for a long time and not have to hold it just with my arms ? Thank you very much.

I think Tilta has a chest harness and they build around DJI eco system.
Few months ago I bought Zhyiun Webbill s video transmission package but the issue was when I used with Soy A7III i can only see image in my cell phone as external monitor and not on the camera screen. I returned that gimbal because it is very difficult when you can only see video image while recoding on cell phone and camera screen blank.
As you tested this gimbal so can we say DJI Ronin RS2 with its raven image transmission fix this issue ? What I would like to know will I able to see image while recording in both external monitor as well as camera screen ?
Please advise me as this is very important for me before buying any new gimbal ?

The ronin s is heavy to be honest, don’t get me wrong glidecam is even heavier, but boi the rs2 is made out of carbon fibre! Worth buying for the light weight setup

@@elexAUS yeah weebill S is cheaper, smaller and have the same feature. Just the Design and quality of ronin is nicer, thats it.
I think you definitely should. Weebill S will never be even close to any kind of professional gimbals (such as Ronin S). I have an experience with both of them.
The charging port directly on the battery grip is the best innovation so far
You think this would hold and be able to balance a 90D with a 150-600mm lens? With my battery grip it weighs 7lbs. which I could obviously remove so the weight should be fine I would think but that lens gets pretty long at 600mm....what are your thoughts? I want to use it for on the move wildlife as I hike.....
