You do know this brand of gum machine (Acorn) is still made and all parts are available including the globe in both glass and plastic. Even the older parts and decals are readily available through numerous internet venders. Just seems like a lot of work on an item that isn’t really that old or valuable. Just saying.
My grandparents had a gumball machine a bit like this at their house my whole life and it recently came into my possession (and the coin mechanism was broken.) I’d like to do something like this restoration, but I don’t have tools like a sand blaster. Is there something else I could do or should I just try to find someone who can help me with this? Especially because I don’t know exactly how old it is and I’m a tiny bit worried about lead in the paint.

I recommend you take it apart and have someone sandblast it. Then you can put new paint on it yourself, clean it and reassemble everything...
