Great restoration! All processes are very well filmed. I involuntarily compare it with my restoration and realize that in many ways the course of my thoughts is similar to the course of thoughts of the author of this video) After all, I saw this film after I published my own restoration of a kitchen cleaver.
Beautiful job! I do think the blade should have been sanded to a shiny finish, especially because of your channel name, but I really loved what you did with the handle and the whole piece! New subscriber here!
Wow, impressive. And the handle is the crown glory of it all. I found a small cleaver that was sharpen by someone who knew nothing about doing so. It is lop sided. Doesn't cut straight down but curves on the way down.... all to say if you don't know how to do something ask.....
I hate to be "that person", I really do because it's your video and you can do whatever you please on your video on your channel. However, you were one of the few restoration channels that didn't do all the "fancy" transitions and different camera angles every 2.5 seconds and I greatly appreciated that. The multiple changes is angles so rapidly, and "fancy" transitions and edits give me anxiety for some reason 😓. Not telling you what to do, but I don't think you'll lose your audience by nixing the "fancy" edits and transitions. Either way great restoration! 😊
Thank you for your feedback, it's really important for me to know what appeals to my viewers! I've actually gotten into the habit of using this cut more and more because I'm trying to attract new viewers with it, that's the reason for it. But I'll seriously think about your comment! ❤🐢
@@ForgottenShineRestoration understandable, it's probably more of a me thing honestly. Multiple camera angles and changes withing a short amount of time make me anxious for some reason, but I'm probably just an anomaly 😅😅. Your restorations are always great either way!
Hi... A little spoiled by this maintenance of the old chopper. The handle was salvageable, it was enough to harden, with a special chemical and there would be more of the original. Not a philosophy to make new ... But overall it came out OK. PS. Let's save the antiques...
Leave that cleaver with me for two days , and I'll have it sharp enough to shave with. You need to use Japanese Water stones of a minimum of 2000 grit just to get the steel to the point where you can put a proper edge on it. The blade wasn't sharp enough to be used on Tomatoes but the test of a cleaver is NOT vegetables, but MEAT and it should be sharp enough to leave no trace that it was cut by a cleaver. After cutting, you should be able to still see all of the individual fibers of the muscle tissue, when most cleavers aren't sharp enough but just leave a mess of the muscle fibers, like they were more squished apart than cut. All the blades in my house are THAT sharp and I maintain them that way, nothing is nicer than to be able to cut through everything you need to cook or otherwise prepare for meals than with a blade that is so sharp, that it cuts without any real effort. Any Chef will want his blades all that sharp and pay good money to have them that way. This is why Chef grade kitchen knives are always the single most important investment a Chef makes, and touching a chef's blades without his permission is tantamount to declaring war, "Touch my blades and you'll draw back a stump!" Thousands of dollars can be spent on top quality blades, the very best blades from Solingen Germany or some of the finest blade smiths out of Japan are most often what is desired by most professional cooks.
Seeing a steel lathe and tooling used for wood turning was definitely a first for me.
My boy turtle will never be forgotten 🗣️🔥💯
Love seeing turtle. It’s been awhile. Nice work. ❤🐢
Another great video! So fascinating and fabulous. Thank you.❤
Thank you! 🤩🐢
The handle was the best part, the wood is a nice color
Thanks! 🐢
Yes, that wood is gorgeous! 😍
2:12 perfect asmr👌
*my ear dies*
looks very cool at the end
👍 Pavel 🇨🇿
I might be wrong but I think cold bluing is not food safe.
Yikes, probably best to quench it in oil I assume to get that color
What would be the alternative?
Good god, snowflakes everywhere!!
50yrs from now no one will have a imune system to speak of..
He probably will not use that knife considering restoring is kind of hobby for him actually
Yeah and it looks super dumb and awful mirror polishing is the way to go ALWAYS!
Maybe I'm just a bit odd....but I find watching lathe work like this to be extremely satisfying...😊

Beautiful cleaver Beautiful restoration good job well done
Such a great restoration as always
Thank you very much! 🐢
Beautifully well done. thank you for brightening my morning.
Thank you very much for your great comment! ♥️🐢
You do not want to use a cold blued knife for any type of food prep or gameprocessing.
OR PERIOD COLD BLUING LOOKS AWFUL

Some of the machines some of these people have would be nice to have. I have my hands, some sandpaper, a wire wheel.
Wow, impressive. And the handle is the crown glory of it all.

I don't know how old this is but if it is an antique you don't want to make it look brand new.
Nice 👍
Good job 👏👍👌❤️
Thanks! 🐢

Great job. Liked and subbed.
Thank you very much and welcome! 🐢👑❤
I would have preferred to see all the divots filled in. Nice handle though.
Gute Arbeit.
You are correct stainless steel or iron
Yeah those wood holes are usually made by powder-post or furniture beetles
love video
Nice😊
Thank you! 🐢
Very good
Thank you! 🐢
Perfección!
Good camera work,
Thank you very much! ♥️🐢
That handle turned out beautiful! Great job! Also, did you make any audio changes? For this video the audio seems louder
I also noticed that there is a lot more noise in the sound, which was definitely not what I wanted. I still don't know where it comes from...🐢

I would have resin-stabilized the original handle.

In next video: Turtle opens a butcher shop with all the knives you’ve restored

The face on the turtle 😂
🐢♥️
Im slightly concerned at the level of aggressive and grating sound content in this video. Are we okay? Did something happen to turtle? 😂

LOVE THIS VIDEO 🫶
😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩🥰🥰🥰
I think the old handle could be stabilized with resin
Are you sure if that would have worked, it was really badly corroded...🐢
Could’ve used epoxy on the handle to salvage it by to each their own I guess lol
não sei como fazer

Correct. If I'm. Wrong. Woodworm. ..are. In. Wood. When it's. A tree. ??/
Wood worm damage is often found in old wood pieces

This audio was awful.
You should've chopped something much bigger. A watermelon or whole chicken or turkey would have been best.
Edit the horrible sound of grinding next time...sheesh dude that was horrendous.
Beautiful handle for a sucky looking blade
