Yay! I’m quite excited that you’ll be reading Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom this year. I adore the duology, mostly because I am so in love with the characters that are a part of the crew.
I’m also happy to see The Book Thief on the list! I read that one years ago, and I really liked it.

Hi Emily, since you want to read more non-fiction, I have 2 recommendations to make :) :
Because you're also into beauty - I'm thinking : The secret live of colors by Kassia St Clair might be something you would enjoy.
And a bit of science non-fiction : Napoleon's Buttons: How 17 Molecules Changed History by Penny Le Couteur, it's quite fascinating :)

All the Farseer Triolgy is so good! Verity is my favorite character! I'm currently in the Tawny man Trio. You can skip the Liveship Traders if you want. Read Assassins Apprentice soon! It's so good! OMG please! I will say that the first book I was a bit bored by until the second half, but the second book was my favorite so far, and the third ripped my heart into shreds and KILLED my soul.
    Happy reading.

That's an excellent list! I've read some:
    - Assassin's Apprentice. The length of the other books in the trilogy might have affected my enjoyment a little, but I'm going to pick up Ship of Magic very soon. Robin Hobb's writing is very good.
    - The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. I wanted more science, but it's still enjoyable. It was also made into a movie with Oprah and I can't wait to check it out.
    - Queen of the Tearling. The first book I didn't super like, but the series gets better. I personally liked the ending of the third book. But I wouldn't reread the series.
    - The Book Thief. Maybe it's because I saw the movie first, but the book didn't break my heart. Still a great story though.

Ohhhh, I really enjoyed Oryx and Crake. I had literally zero idea of what it was about and it was really fun. Also, because I'm weird, I liked it a lot better than The Handmaid's Tale and Alias Grace. It was just more entertaining, I think.
About Robin Hobb, this first trilogy is not the best (even though it's still pretty good), but The Liveship Traders trilogy, OMG. It's amazing, especially if you like your fantasy with character-driven stories. IT'S JUST SO GOOD. Hopefully you'll enjoy these books this year!

Book thief will ruin you in the best way! Pierce Brown's new book is apart of the Red Rising series so that is on my TBR this year for sure as it gets better as it goes so hopefully I am not disappointed with the latest one! Six of crows is so good character wise. I am currently reading a closed and common orbit and loving it so happy to see that there will be a third book coming! I am also trying to diversify what I read and you have given me a few to add to my TBR. Also are you planning on reading Sylvian Neuvel's third book? I know I am! :)

I love the cover of My Plain Jane so much!!! My sister loves Margaret Attwood, especially her book The Blind Assassin (which she got me for my birthday, and I haven't read it yet). I'm going to try to read The Way of Kings this year, even though it's so long and terrifies me.

I really enjoyed the Queen of the Tearling trilogy! The first and second books are my favorites (especially the 2nd) - I was also not a fan of the 3rd book. But it's worth reading just for the first two books! It's a really interesting take on fantasy that I haven't encountered before (although, admittedly, I haven't read as much fantasy as you!).

Want a couple more books with Death as a character? HIGHLY recommend Mort, Reaper Man, and Soul Music by Terry Pratchett! Death (And Death of Rats) is a major character in these, and such a great one at that :)
And Bill Bryson is a very personable author. I've read The Mother Tongue: English and How it Got That Way, and it was fantastic.

I need to go back and read allow of war again before continuing with the mist born. When I read it the first time I was deep in resentment for its existence as I loved the trilogy and thought it ended perfectly. I'm sure I'll love the new books now i've adjusted to the continuation. I love almost all of the Robin Hobb books, they all follow a timeline with crossover characters, except for the soldier son trilogy. I hated the soldier son middle book, didn't think much to the 3rd either 😕 I hope all your anticipated books meet and exceed your expectations 😁

The one on Henrietta Lacks sounds great! The ovarian cancer cells they took from her are know as the ‘Immortal Cells’, which they call HeLa cells due to taking the first two letters of her first and last name. The cells are considered immortal because they aren’t programmed to quit replicating after so many cycles, and basically die out, like normal healthy cells. This makes them out to be the very best cells for lab work since they can be infinitely cultured, and each culture can be exposed to things like viruses, which can then be studied and eventually lead to vaccinations. HeLa cells have been the source of so many ground breaking vaccinations, and are still used all over the world today!

I really loved The Unseen World a lot, more than I expected to. Also, hooray for The Book Thief! :) Interestingly, the Tearling trilogy isn't actually classed as YA by the publisher, I don't think - in my local store, it was shelved with the adult fantasy section. But it does feel very YA, especially since the main character is a teenager.

If you are going to read Hyperion, you will need to pick up The Fall of Hyperion right after, because the two books are really one story - kind of like Lord of the Rings, - and make little sense without each other. Hyperion sets the backstory for all six (? if I recall correctly) characters and ends just when the main story is introduced. Don't despair though, the backstories are wonderful, and are important for the plot of the second book. Just pretend it's one big, chunky book in two volumes.
I believe Terry Pratchett's Discworld series has some volumes told from the perspective of Death, so if you are in the mood for humorous fantasy that's a contender.

I read red rising on august 2015. SHAME. It is also in my TBR 2018, want to read book 2 AND 3. I really enjoyed it but it was a slow read for me which I think is why I never picked up the other one even though I've been meaning to for a while. But now I am on a "Finishin book series" mission and its really motivating me ahha.
I thought you read this savage song, dont know why. Also on my TBR. I read the darker shade trilogy this past 3 months and decided I shall read ALL of victoria shwab books. (Except the one that is like on hiaitus cause no one is buying the books... yeah not getting into that. Its weird though she is super popular now why cant the publisher allow the final book to be published O.O anyyyy way).
Queen of the tearling is getting a movie with Emma Watson I think. TBR 2018 ;) this is fun I almost never read books at the same time of the people I follow on youtube. probably cause I used to read 10 books a year hmmm. :P

Book Thief is a great book, I loved the writing and the characters. I did enjoy the movie too, though I think the book is better.
