This is how you do a tutorial. Excellent pacing and execution, thank you!
This feels like I watched a 20m tutorial, and in only 3m. Great vid!
James, this is excellent! Soo incredibly helpful, perfectly paced and mentioned parts I couldnt find anywhere else! Thank you!
This video was a life saver!! this is the only video on UA-cam about this that I could follow along with and understand. Thankyou!!
The cheat sheet really helpful! Thanks for the tutorial.
This is exactly what I need how I need, excellent tut!
A thorough explanation in a less time.
This was very helpful. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much, you saved me like 3 hours of stress, i was using the automatic substance material and any time i would render it, it would come up with a mess of an object with nothing of how it should look like, even though this is longer, i'd be way happier to do this again and again for each of my objects i have to texture than go through that struggle again
Very helpful and to the point! Thanks😃
This actually worked. Tysm
You are my savior!!!! Thank you!
wow Thankss... I'm trying do animation workflow... and this is very helpful for me....
2 things - I really done know what I wouldve done without this - you explained it perfectly. Absolutley awesome, thanks so much. Also, have you also done a review for a Capita board in Nozowa Onsen?
Very nice video .i liked
YOU SAVED ME
So far it's been really frustrating cause all the work I've done in substance always looks completely different in Maya...I hope this works for me! Thank you so much!
thank you so much
3:12 Thx for this chart, no one explains shit to be honest as if we assign stuff thx to some unknown knowledge.
The lighting is good to showcase any asset. Plz show a tutorial about the lighting

Please make video on exporting textures from substance to maya vray
2:42 nice pun
I can't find the displacement shader option you mentioned for height maps, it doesn't seem to exist
same
When I render EXRs from Maya, the metal is completely black..? Please help, I’m desperate.
James, how do I get to the screen at 1:04?
I did everything exactly, but it shows me a different set of options...
Common Material Attributes, Special Effects, Matte Opacity etc...
You probably assigned a different material. Like lambert vs phong or Ai Standard surface. Just right click the object, assign new material, Ai standard surface (That's what he used). Or just go to attribute editor and switch the type right under the image of the material, above the base drop down. Hope that helps :)
It's been a while since I made my original post so I don't remember exactly what the situation was that led to me running into that problem in the first place, but I doubt that I had Ai Standard Surface selected initially otherwise I wouldn't have had the problem...
I didn't know about the drop down menu underneath the icon, so thanks for that. I didn't realize it was a surface issue...
I think that I thought it was an issue regarding not having the textures baked, but I honestly don't remember/know what it was... @@unrealerE4
I do it by one by one not same quality as like substance
and the height map is useless ???
did u get your answer ?
Plug it into displacement shader > shading group material input (use RAW and alphas is luminance on).
Height map changes the topology under it. In order to use a height map well you will need a really dense model, which typically isnt preferable for games and so forth, instead u can fake that geometry changing look with a normal map. But for say terrain or something like that, height map can be used
Is there a video somewhere that's good to follow for adding height maps?
@@dashtait5778where's the displacement shader?

there's a default substance plugin in maya, where you can assign all textures in 1 click
