This wheel is insane with GT7. At first I thought I was playing with some sort of assist on. Suddenly cars like the Stratos were as easy to drive as a Civic.
This actually excites me as a PC player. I've always felt like the excessive variety in Fanatec products kept me away from them. But this, as an unbox and play package really excites me.
Actually same. I'm in the beginning stages of putting together a new simrig, and I've been wanting to upgrade from my logitech g920 anyway, so this will be perfect for me.
If you do the maths. €600 for the DD Pro base with boost kit, €80 for the pedals. That means Fanatec are charging €170 for the Gran Turismo wheel. That bundle costs €850.
I got the GT DD Pro along with load cell brake; I bought the Next Level racing cockpit. Think I'm ready to get into this sim-racing world. Very excited. Good vid. Subbed.
Thank you for a very detailed video and bringing a very awaited product review for PS users. I think GT Sport is the most popular game on the PS where F1 and Rally taking second place. Again kudos to you and your Chanel
Yes definitely interested in this unit. I been waiting to get something just like this setup. Compatible with PC which I’ll get eventually. Fanatec is really doing a good job. Good show buddy!!

Can’t wait for GT7 review with the wheel then will decide to purchase or not. Thanks again for the quality reviews you put out.
I got this wheel a week ago and have tried it on GT Sport. But I still have to find settings where it is actually drivable so maybe there is something compatibility wise not working correctly. It works amazing on F1 2021 though, which is the main game I am playing. And I kinda assume that it will work just as well on GT7 once that is out
Agree that the DD Pro is a value-packed package out of the box. Would agree also that the Boost Kit 180 (8Nm peak torque vs standard 5Nm) is well worth the price, as is the addition of the load cell brake. The weak link is definitely the wheel. I don't really mind the plastic construction (seems pretty solidly put together to me), and I actually like the semi-tacky feel of the rim. However, as someone with what I consider average sized hands, the wheel just feels cramped and poorly laid out. The buttons are a bit of a stretch to reach, while the grip bulges just above the L and R spokes cause a narrowing that my thumbs hang up on, making it impossible to easily/easily slide my grip toward the top of the rim. All that said, Fanatec's definitely got a winner in the GT Pro bundle!
I just got Gran Turismo DD Pro with CSL BMW Wheel and Loadcell pedals this tuesday and it was all worth it. It's so much better than my old Logitech set, all the details are there and it really feels like a quality product. It's currently mounted to a table with a tableclamp, but it still feels really solid. I can recommend.
I can get the G29 for £150 or the CSL DD GT pro for £850 for similar items I.r both come with basic pedals. Do you think the DD is worth that much more?
Just ordered mine with 8nm. Hope it’s as good as everyone says and still up there with the best of them in 2023. I know the Logitech Dd is out but it’s €600 more in Ireland.
@@davidcupra4913 it’s very lovely, but it’s the only wheel I’ve ever used so I can’t really say how it compares to anything else. A whole lot more than 8 to me sounds like a workout lol. I love your channel and now I am just setting up a sim rig. I use you advise, keep up the informative videos. I see you had an issue with the t-nuts sliding in the base of the DD and DD Pro. I just received my DD Pro and installed it on my wheel plate. It only took a minute or so. Just mount the t-nuts on the plate in the appropriate holes. I threaded them to the bottom of the whole on the t-nuts, which left some up and down play. If you notice the bottom slots on the DD Pro, there is a channeling slot prior to the mounting slot. All I needed to do, was slightly push the to nuts up by pushing the bolt, and slid the base unit over the nuts. They properly aligned, then all I had to do was tighten the bolts to secure the t-nuts. You don't need any springs or anything on the t-nut; they work as engineered.
Hey Will and team, thanks for another great video. Been wanting to get into sim racing for some time and your channel has been my main source of research on the subject. The only thing that held me back from CSL DD was the fact that i still play on PS4 and PC. Sucks that the playstation licensing adds the extra cost, but this bundle solves the issue of having a DD for PC without missing out on the playstation games. Broke my rule of never pre ordering, but since the CSL DD lived up to the hype, i picked up the bundle with the 8nm boost kit with your link.

36:38 you do not have to press any button on the steering wheel to change modes, just press the power button on the Base and it will change the mode just fine, no need to also press the Share button on the wheel.
@@boostedmedia it turns off when you press the power button for 2 seconds. But when you just tip the button for a short time it will change Modes without the need to press any button on the wheel as shown in the Quick Guide as well and as already working on the CSL DD the exact same way.
@@boostedmedia then you did something wrong...😅 it's really just a short press on the power button and the Mode will switch without the need to also press the Share Button on any wheel. If it's not working for you and you think you did everything correct then your unit might be broken somehow but the expected and intended behaviour would be as I said... In fact, I also have it here and I NEVER ever pushed any button on any wheel to change Modes on the GT DD PRO, just the Power Button on the Base so it is definitely working... 😅
As others have said, not testing on GT Sport is a missed opportunity. In my opinion, GT Sport feels much better than Assetto Corsa on my CSL Elite. Would have been nice to see if the coloured switches were useful in game. Just for reference, I play on a PS5. Also Sony confirmed all PS4 wheels including Fanatec were fully backwards compatible, so I’d be very surprised if interfacing with the GT DD Pro.
Thank you for a great review. Based on this (and a few others) I bought this bundle and I agree with everything you said. Coming from a Logitech G923, this bundle costs about twice as much but it is exponentially better. In other words, 100% worth the extra cost if want more realism, functionality and performance. And I also agree that the added loadcell and power supply are worth the expense and will be added by many purchasers. Including them makes this package more than triple the Logitech which would have been off-putting for me as I didn’t know what I was missing. If you’ve never drive a DD rig it might seem excessive. Once you have experienced DD you will understand the added value. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for your thoughtful reviews and keep up the great channel!
I really don’t like the wheel rim tbh I think it looks a bit Logitech G29. But it also kind of makes sense for a Gran Turismo fan base! All aside Fanatec are absolutely killing it at the moment 👏🏽
I can't believe that I had to scroll so far to find a comment like this. There is no question about it - the wheel is ugly and looks like a cheap toy. The built quality looks sub par for even Logitech. I mean - screw holes on back of the wheel? Plastic cheap paddles? I'm glad I don't have to buy this...
Really looking forward to seeing the price of a standalone wheelbase. I already own CSL Elite pedals with load cell and also own 3 Fanatec rims so I have no interest in buying the whole package. I just want the wheelbase with the boost kit. Then one day I'll upgrade to the clubsport v3 pedals and I'll have my dream rig..
I hope that they announce it as a standalone.. just buyed the mc laren wheel and the csl elite pedals, but they would be really dumb if they wouldnt announce it
I fear it will never happen, it is more advantageous for fanatec and sony to only sell the complete packages, if they put the separate parts for sale that small and too much plastic steering wheel compared to the fanatec standards it would remain unsold however i expect a lot of elite csl bases and gt7 steering wheels in the next second-hand market
When are you guys planning to do a full in depth review on this set up with GT7? I've seen you've done a comparison with the controller but nothing specifically reviewing this set up and the wheel configuration with GT7. Thanks 🤙🏻✌🏻
I just don't understand the price gouging fanatec does. $150+ for a probably $5 power brick just to get 8 nm of force. It's so stupid. Just ship it with the damn wheel base. And I simply refuse to believe that something like a load cell kit would have to cost $370. I get that there's labor involved to make these things, but wouldn't selling more of them just mean that they get more money overall?
good luck getting it... just had my order pushed out another month and they don't expect new people ordering now for the base package won't get one until June 2022. so... yeah... availability seems like a joke at this point
Fantastic rundown. All that's left to do is place the order. I wonder if can get airfreight as well as all the accessories (boost kit, load cell, shifter) 🤔.
Great video excellent that you where able to get early access to this steering I have been waiting a while for this I can’t wait to get mine possibly next year
Watched this review a few times to make up my mind. Iv just ordered it with the 8nm. I hope it’s still as good a wheel 12 months later. I know the Logitech is out now too but it’s €600 more again not sure trueforce is worth that. Anyway few more days to wait. Bought the gt omega Titan rig also. Btw @boostedmedia your reviews are amazingly detailed. Very easy listen too thanks.
Detailed, comprehensive review. Thanks. Definitely a maybe for me. Will revisit when GT7 comes out and when a base only option is available. Not sure if I could live looking out that wheel.....
Bought the GT DD PRO with 8nm power supply and load cell pedal kit. Have had nothing but problems. It has never worked out of the box. The wheel isn't seen in the software, the quick release is flimsy, support has a stated 7 day reply time. In talking with support, its back and forth about drivers, make and model of your computer, what happens when you do this? Finally they sent out a new plastic QR adapter (cant send the metal one, but you can buy it) and now the base sees the wheel, but the wheel continuously disconnects. No improvement really. I would think long and hard about Fanatec, their quality control, their lack of meaningful support. Yes its a direct drive wheel base, but if it doesn't work? I've asked for a full RMA at this point. I'm done beating my head against a wall.
Not a good deal: I just had delivered CSL DD with the Boost Kit, WRC Elite Wheel, and V3 Peddles was €911 or $ 911... also considering you are buying this as a kit you would expect it to be even cheaper than it should be...
Good review as usual, I have the CSL DD since monday and can confirm it is great bit of kit. Unfortunatly I also can confirm reports of a clunky QR-lite, under heavy load or fast movements.
I had the same issue with my QR-Lite, what I done to "Fix" it is simple and effective. Take the wheel from the shaft and apply a couple of layers of standard transparant tape on the U shaped part of the shaft until the clunk is gone. The Tape fills the "Gap" and makes a tight fit.
@@zamnesia369 I have tried that with some tape, and it helped but not 100%, so I'll add some more tape as you suggest to see what happens. Thanks for the tip.
@@brulaapgaapmeester8052 Your Welcome. Just keep adding a layer until its gone. I think I added 3 or 4 layers. Fanatec should have never approved this amount of play on the shaft with the Simple QR1. This is a production error if your ask me.
Love your videos. You need a teleprompter. Look into some of the iPad teleprompters, you'll be able to control it with your phone, and some of them can even detect your voice to speed up and slow down for you.
My bedroom rig has a CSL E, that I can never use because I like to play GT-Sport when the wife is sleeping, and the CSL E is loud. If i can get a PS5 when GT7 drops I'll definitely be buying.
Excellent review, you guys are awesome at breaking this stuff down! I'm looking to get this set up for GT7 on my PS5 and weighing up what to buy. I'm weighing up buying the Logitech setup for half the price or taking the plunge on this. New sub here anyways! ✌🏻
Great review! I'd like to see a teardown and compare the DD pro with the CSL DD. The DD pro pedal jack seems less reliable than the DD jacks due to the way they are mounted on the PCB.
Pre-ordered the Gran Turismo DD Pro Premium Bundle (8NM + Load Cell Kit) today (used your affiliate link. Thanks for the great review.) This will be my first racing wheel. Can't wait to play GT7 with it. Question: Where can I get those red mounts for the wheel base?
So happy with my cls dd and hope time flies for all cls dd pro buyers. I waited 2,5 month for my unit and watched hundreds of reviews, some of them -like ours- i can literally dream. About the cls dd pro wheelbase: i prefer the shape of the original cls dd. About the wheel: i dont know yet what to think about it. I guess it feels great, just like the TGT rim, but it doesn't look great. Maybe next time fanatec should design it. That having said, as race beond matter always say, great review Will!
Suberb Analysis! Watched every second! But, this is a GT wheel. Please help us and make a review on GT Sport, not in F1. Is it worth upgrading from CSL elite or T-GT for the particular game? 🤔
Hey man I love the videos, creative opinion, I think first half of the videos would but just a tiny bit better if you used a wider aperture and more ISO. It kind of kills me not being able to look at the gear on the table in focus and to look at you in focus. TBH It doesn't matter I'm still gonna watch haha. Thanks for all you do M8

I'm so glad I decided to wait for them to announce this
I've only just subscribe to your channel and I've been thinking about upgrading my rig been looking at Fanatec I have been a PlayStation user for around 20 years not into PC and you have made up my mind absolutely amazing review I enjoy high end Sims , im going to order a bundle tomorrow many many thanks from Herron W.A, Cheers
Thanks for actually testing this on a PS5. Lots of other reviews, but no one tests is on a console which is pretty useless.
Thanks. We bought a PS5 just to do the review because we figured it was an important part of the story.
impressive price for such a complete bundle, i can't believe this is a fanatec bundle for that price, sounds like a rare sight but also will make it harder to get after pre order
I got the dd pro with maclaren well. My wife stil doesnt know I spent 1.1k euro on it. She’s gonna kill me, ha!
Best info and reviews ,I’m learning heaps
Preordered! Excited to finally be getting into sim racing
Looks really good. Fanatec have done a good job.
36:38 you do not have to press any button on the steering wheel to change modes, just press the power button on the Base and it will change the mode just fine, no need to also press the Share button on the wheel.
That’s the method I was given when I asked. I’d I just press the power button it turns off.
@@boostedmedia it turns off when you press the power button for 2 seconds. But when you just tip the button for a short time it will change Modes without the need to press any button on the wheel as shown in the Quick Guide as well and as already working on the CSL DD the exact same way.
Interesting. When I did a momentary press it wasn’t doing anything. Maybe I was pressing too short. KO told me what I did was the correct procedure.
Must have. Lol. Oh well. Thanks for clarifying. I don’t speak “quick start guide” I’m afraid. Too old. 😂
Dude, I love this channel...
Cause no one's gonna spend the money for this thing to play grand tourismo. People that buy this play sim racing
@@tommybear4458 its a ps5 wheel made in conjunction with gran turismo that's a simulation game
Fantastic reviews Will very thorough as always
Strong zoom reactions camera person 👏👏👏
The GT wheel is actually not that bad looking while driving 😂
thats because your not looking at it,it's hideuos
Thanks for the review Will! Hope your video will finally convince my brother to take the plunge!
Ordered in September and still waiting on my CSL DD 💀
Really looking forward to seeing the price of a standalone wheelbase. I already own CSL Elite pedals with load cell and also own 3 Fanatec rims so I have no interest in buying the whole package. I just want the wheelbase with the boost kit. Then one day I'll upgrade to the clubsport v3 pedals and I'll have my dream rig..
Fanatec says they want to sell the wheelbase on its own, but that's subject to Sony's approval.
I hope that they announce it as a standalone.. just buyed the mc laren wheel and the csl elite pedals, but they would be really dumb if they wouldnt announce it
I was gonna say that too because I already have the pedals and steering wheel I was just waiting for standalone wheelbase
I fear it will never happen, it is more advantageous for fanatec and sony to only sell the complete packages, if they put the separate parts for sale that small and too much plastic steering wheel compared to the fanatec standards it would remain unsold
however i expect a lot of elite csl bases and gt7 steering wheels in the next second-hand market
Fanatec announced that they want to do it but they are waiting for Sony to agree
I needed this so much, you absolute legend!🔥🔥
Top notch review I’m looking forward to you trying it with the new GT. keep up the good work.
When are you guys planning to do a full in depth review on this set up with GT7?
I've seen you've done a comparison with the controller but nothing specifically reviewing this set up and the wheel configuration with GT7.
Thanks 🤙🏻✌🏻
Awesome Video! Convinced me to buy a Fanatec for my PS5! Thanks for this great video!
Wish I could have one. Still using a controller all my life haha
Fantastic rundown. All that's left to do is place the order. I wonder if can get airfreight as well as all the accessories (boost kit, load cell, shifter) 🤔.
Great video excellent that you where able to get early access to this steering I have been waiting a while for this I can’t wait to get mine possibly next year
Yes, nice surprise to get a review so early. How do you think this wheel compares to the P1, which is pretty cheap on Black Friday?
Very detailed review, thank you!
And don't forget that this wheel looks like a cheap toy compared even with so called "entry level" WRC Elite Wheel.
Yeah wheel looks like it comes from Wish or something, looks like a cheap toy..
Hi, time to do a update review on this with GT7 after a year. Which is better, This or the Logitech DDR?
Awesome job mate
Excellent review, you guys are awesome at breaking this stuff down! I'm looking to get this set up for GT7 on my PS5 and weighing up what to buy. I'm weighing up buying the Logitech setup for half the price or taking the plunge on this. New sub here anyways! ✌🏻
It's more than half the price I think, if you got the money get the DD but imo it's better to get a second hand T300 rs for 5th of the price
Available possibly next May. Great...
It looks more like a steering wheel being used in road cars rather than the ones from circuit spec race cars.
That's what happens when you let Polyphony design something to be used IRL. Lol it is truly hideous
Gran Turismo is in their words "The real Driving Simulator" not the real Racing simulator :)
which is a good thing !
@@elbowsout6301 Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport are both officially considered to be simcades.
Gran Turismo has a lot of road cars, has a rally mode and karting so this is better like this.
you say it nice and solid but is it more flex than other Fatatec wheel, which made of steal?
which feels like cheap isnt it if you compare?
Great review! I'd like to see a teardown and compare the DD pro with the CSL DD. The DD pro pedal jack seems less reliable than the DD jacks due to the way they are mounted on the PCB.
Incredible review! Thanks so much!
Great video man
Your video made my pre-order one.
I'll thank you later, when my bank account will stop being mad at me.
Love your videos guys !
I don't know why i just watched a video for a wheel id never be able to afford, but I did. Thank you for the very concise review
Preorder mine. I haven't played GT since PS3 days and always been on a controller. I guess I'm in for a wild ride. Just gotta get the PS5 also 😱
Pre-ordered the Gran Turismo DD Pro Premium Bundle (8NM + Load Cell Kit) today (used your affiliate link. Thanks for the great review.) This will be my first racing wheel. Can't wait to play GT7 with it.
Question: Where can I get those red mounts for the wheel base?
How is it by the way? Been looking to get the same setup.
They charge $150 extra for the 8nm power pack? RIPOFF LOL
But its very useful. I have the csl dd with the boost kit and its so good to drive with it
There's an aftermarket power supply available for around €70
Just realized this package is a bit of a bargain when compared to buying separately.
@@Steve30x which itself is a $20 diy ripoff
@@michaelkindman I know but not everybody had the DIY skills to do it themselves
Always awesome reviews waiting for preorder to drop as links not showing any au pricing.
It's an odd decision/oversight to not play the actual game it is designed for. You wouldn't review a gaming mouse using productivity software.
$1k set up is still an entry level..? 🤯
Nice review. Can you make a video of it on GT Sport ?
I love this wheel the only problem I have is I don’t really like the paddle shifters. I wish they were better.
I wish that they release a standalone base
Hey man I love the videos, creative opinion, I think first half of the videos would but just a tiny bit better if you used a wider aperture and more ISO. It kind of kills me not being able to look at the gear on the table in focus and to look at you in focus. TBH It doesn't matter I'm still gonna watch haha. Thanks for all you do M8
Thanks for the detailed review. Surprised you guys didn't try it with GT Sport? I'm assuming those 4 colored toggles work for GTS?
Che k the pinned comment. Explained there
25:00 All the coloured D-Pads are actually already fully implemented in GT Sport.
When will there be a fanatec csl dd ps4 licensed?
Strange wheel rotation :) Thanks for the Review. Did you test the DD pro with a Xbox ready wheel on the X One with Forza Motorsport or a other racing game?
Hello ! Thank you very much for this very complete video. However I would like to know if there is a difference in force feedback and feeling when you use the DD pro on a playstation and on a PC. Thanks😉
Is it not possible for me to just buy the base without buying the rim?
Not currently.
Sony/Polyphony seem to love designing wheels that look like cheap toys (the Thrustmaster version looks like a toy also). So pleased to see the PS version of the CSL DD on the way though. I think I'll go for the standalone version when it's available.
