I always thought that this movie was underrated. It was light, fun and had a likable premise. To see Arnold and Danny work together was gold, they make a great duo.
The part when Julius and Vincent talk about "a Christmas tree and Thanksgiving dinner" and "Even when you've been bad" always gets to me. My dad disowned me when I enlisted in the Marine Corps, and it took over ten years to mend that bridge (thanks in large part to my fearless little sister), so that longing for a home to go back to where you're welcomed no matter what has gone before really resonates with me.
@@molasorrosalom4846 Some parents see it as an honorable way to serve your country or to turn your life around, but others see it as a waste of potential or a way to support a system they see as violent and/or corrupt. 🤷♂
@@bigdream_dreambigI know an American cop, who's Indian, and his family were pretty much at the top of the pyramid in their caste system. They look down on his profession, he could be the chief of police and they would still look down on him.
Being from San Francisco, I remember one of Arnie's very early roles was in the TV cop show "Streets of San Francisco." He played a champion body builder who was using a performance enhancing drug to increase his muscle mass. The drug also gave him anger control issues causing him to go into a bind rage and strangle someone to death, and that's where the show's police detectives got involved.
You can tell they are twins right off the bat! Not only is this hysterically funny it has a rousing storyline. It is highly recommend but if you have asthma you might need to have your rescue inhaler by your side.
Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in Red Heat the same year as this, while Sylvester Stallone starred in Rambo III. This has the same director as Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2 and Kindergarten Cop
Ivan Reitman, who passed away in 2022, directed this, Kindergarten Cop, Junior and the first two Ghostbusters films. His kids, Jason and Catherine, played the grandkids in Twins.
FYI, Arnold also says "I'll be back" in "The Running Man" as well. I HIGHLY recommend you watch that one as well. No Arnold film respective would be complete without it.
Fun story about this movie: This movie was released while my parents were dating & they saw it together. Well, some time later they were at a party playing pictionary (the game where you have 60 seconds to draw a picture & guess what it is) & my mom was given the word "twins." So, she drew the image of Arnold & Danny posing like in the movie poster & no one (not even my dad) guessed that was what the image was supposed to be. It's a story that almost 40 years later still gets told at parties, family gatherings, & anytime we see a movie with Arnold or Danny in it.
Danny DeVito is a master at playing characters who are scummy yet lovable. For comedy where he plays a character who's not aggressive nor scummy (plotting first degree murder not withstanding), consider watching "Throw Momma From the Train" (1987) starring Danny DeVito and Billy Crystal.
There's a scene in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia in which Danny DeVito's character climbs out of a couch and then recreates Arnold Schwarenegger's famous "overlooking LA" walk from the opening scene of the original Terminator. It pretty much confirms that they are most likely not identical twins.
I really love how in the scene where they get matching suits and Vincent refers to Julius as "Mr Ice" since in one of the Batman movies Ahnold plays Mr Freeze. Of course this movie came out long before the Batman thing, but still just foreshadowing is so cool. No pun intended.
Glad to see you back Cami ! 😊 you always have great reactions I will need to go back and watch this classic again as i already know it's a dose of humor i need today ! Have a blessed day Cami ! ❤

First, let me point out that he did not lift the rear end of that car anywhere _near_ 45 degrees. But second, don't let the technobabble fool you. That does not actually work. Admittedly, it has only happened once, but I once saw a car with its alarm going off, while it was on a trailer hitch, being towed.
