- In this video we will go over cards that are basically useless, or have affects which are so minor that there almost never worth running. But this list will not go over cards with negative effects, most of those are kind of design to be bad so they don't count.

Believe it or not, that would be a good card. Pot of Desires gets rid of 1/4 of your deck forever in exchange for drawing 2 cards and it's still considered really good. People would definetly play that card with 3 copies in decks that can OTK reliably.
Really, the saddest thing about this list is that we won't ever have a use for the absolute SEX MACHINE that is Avatar of the Pot.

Oh god the amount of times in gx when Judai summoned neo bubbleman to equip him with bubbleblaster to then crash into whatever strong monster was on the opponents board. Bonus points for drawing both metamorphosis and bubbleblaster with bubblemans effect aswell.

If Elemental Hero Bubbleman's anime effect was the actual card's effect it wouldn't be all that bad of a card to be honest. Cause I think in the anime Bubbleman just has to be the only monster card on your side of the field in order to draw two more cards. However, I believe that the actual card not only requires Bubbleman to be the only monster card on your side of the field but also the only card in your hand in order to activate its effect.

I hate when my opponent summons Tri Horned Dragon because it’s basically over for me because my Red-Eyes Black Metal can’t get over him.

Funny thing is, there is a reason Larvae Moth exists - and it's even dumber than you might think.
See, in the manga and anime, Larvae Moth was a vanilla. It, not Petit Moth, was the card you equipped with Cocoon to summon Great Moth and PUGM. That's why Larvae Moth actually looks like its higher evolution stages, while Petit Moth is just a random caterpillar. But for some reason, somebody at Konami decided, "Hmm, how about we instead make this other card the one you use Cocoon on? And how about we release Larvae Moth anyway, but link it up to this weird cycle?"
So now we have a card that, even in the anime, was just a useless vanilla, being turned into an upgrade. I dunno, maybe they thought that way, people would buy five cards instead of four, or that the combo was too powerful if it required a 500 vanilla instead of a 300.
REBMD and Metalzoa have basically the same origin of manga-to-game fuckery. Anime Metalmorph, instead of a 300-point boost and more when attacking, provided a 400-point boost and also provided a weird magic-immunity effect (which got referenced later on in Rare Metalmorph). I think the idea there was that they wanted to release REBMD and Metalzoa as their own cards because they had cool designs, but they didn't seem to have any ideas on how to make them good. Even just giving them immunity to Spells would make them a lot better.
honesty they should just make it if cocoon equipped on to petite moth is destroy by your opponent you can summon the monster that meets the turn requirements as well as tributing it yourself, like the anime where Weevil went for PUGM but Yugi destroyed it 1 turn before, but he still got out Great moth.

It is just stupid how easy it would have been to make the Metalmorph duo good. Just have it inherit the metalmorph effect and make it work both ways, both while attacking and getting attacked. It is an objective upgrade to metalmorph, counter-balanced by needing to run very specific monsters and the risks that come with running garnets in a deck.

They should’ve gave red eyes black metal dragon the same affect as Metalmorph like when it attacks one of your opponent’s monsters it agains half the attack points. I seen the same thing happened on an episode of Yu-Gi-Oh when Rex Raptor dueled Joey in a rematch to get revenge (1:32).
Yeah they really dropped the ball on that one. Like give it some effect atleast! That or it shoulda had like 3500 atk.

i think it’s clever cuz 1) it has rare in its name rare cuz rare metal morph and it’s the rarest of all red-eyes it’s the one that caught up to rivals blue eyes in stats an is finally living up to its “potential”
@@jayclearmen411 Weak for the modern game and lacking good synergy with today's Red Eyes archetype but it'd be acceptable for back then.
Change it to level 7, reduce the summoning condition to any lvl 7 Red Eyes with an equip card (like black metal dragon), and a) buff the attack to 3200 and do not allow the opponent to attack other Red Eyes monsters while this one is on the field or b) give it a burn effect when it attacks or is attacked and do not allow the opponent to attack other Red Eyes monsters while this one is on the field. This would make it worth summoning when you also have a couple of the Red Eyes Xyz monsters out.

It would still be super niche, since it’s basically just anti-Desires/Extravagance/Avarice. If you buffed it to negate any effect that allows your opponent to Draw 2 cards, it might be worthwhile. It would have the downside of being less versatile than an Ash Blossom while also not being a hand trap, but at least you get to plus off of it.

@@williamdrum9899 It negates an opponent's spell card and is a spell card. That would be sufficient to make it better than Jar of Greed (which does not negate anything and is a trap card).
Make it draw 2 and a handtrap and i think it would work. Would let you literally steal the jars draw power. Since everyone uses them it would be very useful.
@@Merilirem facts this was what i was thinking like Maxx c but instead of tying special summons it’s be to draws/any card effect that would add a card to your opponents deck to there hand hard once per turn of course..it would work on draws kind of like appropriate but for a single turn..once per turn an if your opponent tries to draw or add a card from there deck to there hand anytime (after the draw phase it triggers an works for you minus the draw backs) for instance your opponent plays reckless greed you draw the same amount of cards…itll either get limited fast or outright banned.
I saw Returning Zombie as a prize card in Duel Links. Saw the effect and noped outta there faster than a Blue-Eyes player with a bricked starting hand.

I was always SO upset that the freaking Pegasus starter deck, a deck I know a lot of people were excited to get, wasted one of the 3 holo spots on Gryphon Wing. You could only get the HFD from buying a specific game that it came with and it seemed so dumb to put in a starter deck
For real. They should've given us Doppleganger or Bright Castle or something in its place. But hey, I guess they figured Graceful Charity was so broken, it didn't matter. lol
You know what is even more sad, back than unlike cards like Monster Reborn or Dark Hole what was in every deck, HFD was really rare, I never knew anyone who had that card.

Fun fact: The anime version of Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon DOES have something to do with Metalmorph. Specifically its summoning requirements required a different (anime only) version of Metalmorph equipped to Red Eyes Darkness Dragon to bring it out. The anime version was also a strict upgrade on Red Eyes Darkness Dragon, even inheriting the effect of that anime only Metalmorph.
Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon the OCG card has absolutely nothing in common with the anime version except for its base stats, the summoning requirements and effects are totally different between the two.
I hate how said anime only version of Metalmorph is called Metal Plus. That name is SO LAZY!

Since this is season 4 of GX which never got dubbed it's proper to use the Japanese names, and in the case of Metal Plus the full name is actually "Magic-Reflection Armor - Metal Plus". Said name is a riff on the anime's version of Metalmorph, which is "Magic-Reflection Armor - Metal Force", so Metal Plus is literally supposed to be a successor to the original anime version of Metalmorph. The actual playable card we got is called "Metalization - Magic Reflection-Armor" which is slightly different.
tl;dr: Metal Plus is so called because it's an improved version of Metalmorph. If it sounds boring that's one of the vagaries of translation.

I'll say for Wind Effigy, it is future proofed. They could eventually make a card that just happens to work well with it.
A wind normal monster that requires two tributes?
I remember using card shuffle back in the day we used it on player we knew or thought they are cheating. This one guy no matter the duel he always had the exact hand and set up. Besides that it was garbage. Also this card was used as a combo (I can't remember the name) it made you flip your deck upside down so you always saw the top card letting you control when the players got.

oh how the meta has changed... fur hires got a buff in the form of removing forbidden/limited restrictions, and swarm decks are a bit more common with even me, a relatively casual, playing a swarming melodious deck.
If they made the starting life points 8000 in duel links I'm pretty sure you'd be seeing a lot of people playing Cyber Stein to summon Ojama King to lock your opponent out of summoning monsters. I can think of many ways you could take this combo to FTK an opponent.
@@kurodox8063 it isnt all that hard to get ojama king out in the first place within its own archetype, who would think Cyber Stein-ing it out of the extra deck would make it any more competitive? just the other day i played against a vagabond who tried to do exactly that, but their deck was way too slow to have any chance of success if my melodious deck is rouge at best. even my casual vampire deck could have beaten them in a game i dont constantly brick. King's weakness in duel links is that it has to be summoned turn one to see full effect, and going second nearly always breaks that plan (hence why you could argue ojama knight is equally as effective for less resources). yes, you could use certain cards to break their board first, but that just adds one more variable to pulling off the dream combo, and most of cards that could break their board require setup of their own.

Ennervating Mist should be a slow roll death knell for hand size.
"When this card is face up, place a Mist counter on this card. Place one Mist counter on this card at the beginning of each of your turns. Your opponent's maximum hand size is reduced by as many cards as Mist tokens on this card."
It would allow a long term slow down to eventual negation of hand size but as most games are trying to minimize turn counts it becomes kind of a pseudo useless support to a Final Countdown style deck.
Jar Robber- "Negate an activated spell or trap card that has "Pot of" as part of its name and destroy that card. Draw one card.
Hell, do that with all the Pot Of Greed special support cards to a linites extent. Avatar of the Pot of Desire? Grand Spirit of the Pots?

I'm just being pedantic, but including the cards that revolve around banned cards feels like cheating to me.
In a format where all of their accompanying cards are unlimited, Neo Bubbleman would be the only one that's really bad, just because it's the worst use for Metamorphosis imaginable.
To be fair, specific counter cards are pretty terrible too. You have to have that card set on the field when your opponent activates a specific card that they might not even have in their deck? Monster Reborn is legal in both metas but nobody nor their grandma is running Call of the Grave

@@Acsilverfish360 Elma is the better card, no question. I was simply referring to Jar Robber and Gryphon's Wing. Elma is not a specific counter card, and is not included by my statement. I would argue that Ancient Telescope is better than Jar Robber and Gryphons wing because, while its effect is pretty bad, at least its a normal spell card with no activation requirements.
@EHEñor Okita El Cuarto Patriarca Sanwich is still a terrible card, and again my point is only about the *counter* cards. Specific counter cards are already terrible in their own right and almost never going to be used even if they're in a deck, and being counters for banned cards are more the nail in the coffin than anything else. Being related to banned cards is the reason these are the cards chosen _over other specific counter cards._ Otherwise these spots could be taken by something like Goblin Pothole Squad or White Hole, which counter specific cards nobody uses because of power creep.

Card shuffle has some great synergy with one of my favorite cards; conversation of nature! It's a weird card that turns your and your opponent's deck upside down, but the real beauty is that the hand pretty much becomes public knowledge, as well as the card you're/your opponent is gonna draw into. Card shuffle will let you pay a pittence to deny them a key resource, or have a second chance at drawing a good card since you know if it's what you need or not. A decent convulsions board can get like 6 once per turn draws, and this is a mulligan for that. I mean, it's not easy to get a good convulsions board in the first place because they don't make cards for it, but it *has* a use case!
If I remember right, as well, it _literally_ flips the decks upside down, so that the bottom card is now the top card, and there are a few things that add cards to the bottom of the deck.
@@BloodrealmX This is also true! And likewise if your opponent sends their own card to the bottom of their deck they probably don't wanna draw it, so flipping it up so they're definitely going to see the card they 100% didn't want to see, while you got one you stacked there.
Convulsions is such a fun card and it interacts with both player's cards in hand and deck in such an interesting way so it's easy to figure out ways to use it with other cards, I just wish those strategies were better since without good combo pieces it's a dead draw and even with them you're going -1/-2 for something that probably won't be there next turn. Like it *helps* with almost any deck built with it in mind or not but not enough to warrant using unless that's the point, and not enough point to bother with it.

@@brianaguilar8283 You aren't wrong, Convulsions of Nature is at most an enabler for other cards (it saw some niche play in Spyrals and Sylvans), and the Card Shuffler synergy is just an enabler for that enabler, which isn't worth it when all of a sudden you're playing a bunch of continuous spells that advance your gamestate by a minor amount at best and by nothing at most realistic.
Gimmicks can be fun though, and nostalgia from using it and Archfiend's Oath plays a big part in why I like the card far more than any competitive viability. I also just like how by turning the deck upside down it changes a good number of dynamics with effects that care about the unknown virtue of the top of the deck. Some cards that are supposed to be a gamble suddenly aren't because I'm no longer guessing if, for example, a card is in your deck and then if it's on the top of your deck to special summon it with Conscription, I'm naming the monster card that's already there and using it to take a key card away and/or use it myself, and you can leverage some costs like milling with the knowledge of exactly what cards are about to be milled. What ends up being drawn each turn is public knowledge so you can better plan around what your opponent can even top deck

Tyrant Neptune. It’s only there because of the independent nightingale combo that made it broken. Other than that it’s a pretty bad card as there aren’t many card effects worth copying that would have enough synergy as well as the fact that most effects are name based.

Probably already pointed out a long time ago but Return Zombie was released around the time of the Chaos Emperor/Yata lock specifically to counter it (though iirc by the time we got it, it was already banned in the TCG)
Interestingly, Dark Sage can also special summon itself, from hand OR from deck, with its own summoning condition as well. Of course, it lets you add any spell from deck to hand, so one might say even if it’s not good, it at least has more utility than the metalmorph “rank-ups”

He used an edited version of the card with an effect that fixed why it's banned, probably because he couldn't find a high quality image of the real thing.

The lack of any real cost associated with spells, allowing you to basically hand dump. The fact Konami prints cards exclusively for certain archetypes to get pushed instead of allowing weird combinations to develop. Ex: you play neo spacians as opposed to "aggro reanimator." There isnt any consistent lore tying cards together, so you can be playing with ancient gods, transdimensional robot dragons, and a hongry borger, with nothing tying them together besides.... Theyre cards. The art is rather underwhelming and really falls into broad categories. I think a lot of the game is sexist and pedo bait. (This is my own lack of awareness probably, but ive never heard of a girl playing the game) The absurd names of cards. Seriously, some of these titles. Compare Little D. To Turbo Mega Black Luster Dragon Twilight Envoy of the End and a Diet Coke. The text boxes. Oh that's a nice card you just played. May I read the novel that explains what its supposed to do? Ive heard that most trap cards are unplayable because they're too "slow." Is there really an entire card type that's unusable? Do life points not really matter? I mean in all games, the only ones that matter are the last ones, but I haven't seen a game that's won through attrition. It always ends up being "assemble voltron and win in one fell swoop." Dark Magician isn't a person... Its a generic class... Like he doesn't have a name or anything. The game lacks immersion. Sure, its got a "graveyard" and you summon "monsters," but there's cards that blatantly reference that you are playing a game, that game uses cards, and the cards canonically are cards. Things like exchange, reaper of the cards, card of demise, etc. It's hard to feel invested personally when I feel disconnected. like I'm not playing a spell that does a thing, I'm using a card that has an effect because the text here interacts with "the rules." Personal hangup though. Lastly however, I will concede, that the show... The first one with YuGi is 100% perfrct in all ways without exaggeration. To this day I love it in some quasi ironic quasi real way because every duel boils down to: wait! You didnt realize x y or z effect because rules seem to be up for negotiation in the middle of duels. I would say Metalzoa is worse than REBMD because at least Red-Eyes has support cards to help get it on the field, while Zoa is a generic vanilla beater.
Don't call it generic, that implies Metalzoa is good. Try situational, generic would be something like Ash Blossom.

The opponent still pays the cost associated with the negated spell card (so don't play it on spell cards that have no cost), and can be combined with another counter card to get them to discard two cards for no effect (with Twin Twister, for example).
One of my earliest decks(like 10 years ago) focused around the metal monsters. After awhile I realized that the monsters are just better with metamorph alone
0:18. They print out the full name of "Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon", but don't print the full name of "Red-Eyes Black Dragon", instead shortening it to "Red-Eyes B. Dragon", for some reason. If they can print "Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon" on a card, why not Red-Eyes Black Dragon's full name?
Card Shuffle can be interesting if you run Convulsions of Nature alongside it because then you can see what you and your opponent will draw next and potentially ruin their next play or improve yours. But yeah other than that, it's useless.
Or just run Archfiend’s Oath to call the top card correct and add it to your hand

Konami must create a card that has an effect (similar to the dark world dealings) and is considered a pot of greed in the hand / graveyard / deck / field.
I created something similar for Dark Worlds. A trap card that allows you to discard up to 3 (at least 1 card) and draw 2 cards. It's only a +1 or potential +2 in Dark World and Fabled decks, but in others it will allow you to cycle through cards quickly. At the cost of being a trap of course.
Wait? Butterfly Dagger - Elma on the screen says it can return any equipment card not named "Butterfly Dagger - Elma" so how does it returns itself, if the card says it can't?
Card Shuffle works well with Convulsion of Nature it might be too slow in current day yugioh but if you knew your opponent's deck you could prevent them from drawing important cards or skip dead draws.

A couple times at local tournament, I used it and it absolutely devastated my opponents strategy. And no one saw it coming. It was great. Good times. Good times

Also, several Fusion monsters from the early days come to mind, so bad (some with 2 or even 3 materials UNDER 1000 ATK, no effect, some with "only fusion summoned" with the named monsters), that even the gameboy / advance versions of yugioh made those into normal monsters^^

An achetype that had effects that trigger when you shuffle yours or your opponents deck would be interesting. Maybe it could be based around dancing warriors or something. Could have a lot of effects revolving around adding or subtracting cards directly into or out of the deck to trigger a secondary shuffle effect.
If Konami gave all of the drawing Pot cards erratas which made them count as Pot of Greed while in the hand and when activated, it would let Jar Robber be useful and would also enable all of the OG Pot support cards (Like that one terrible monster which allows you to draw 3 instead of 2 when "Pot of Greed" is activated) to function

There's also Tailor of the Fickle, which lets you take an equip spell and equip it to another appropriate target, and Senet Switch, which allows you to move one monster to one adjacent monster card zone once per turn. Also, because I'm still salty that I pulled one, there's also D-Boyz, which is a level 1 dark fiend type monster that says FLIP: You can special summon any number of "D-Boyz" from your deck in face-up attack position, and then take 1000 damage for each monster summoned with this effect.
I can't think of a rank 1 XYZ monster worth a damn that you could summon with this thing, it's slow as hell, and I can think of a million reasons where you should just play something else instead of this card to do the same thing. If you need synchro fodder, use a junk doppel toolbox build - way more consistent and fast. If you need spammy XYZ monsters, splash in Agent of Creation Venus and 3 copies of mystical shine ball, then you now have access to rank 2 monsters which are infinitely more useful than just about any rank 1 monster that ever existed. If you want level 1 cheese of some kind, play Skull Servants. At least they're part of their own deck now.
And the rotten, smashed, maggot-filled cherry on top of this hot shit sundae of a card is that it is SECRET RARE. In Photon Shockwave. Yes, you can get these clowns instead of something actually good like Zenmaines or Rescue Rabbit, but no. You got D-Boyz eating up a potential secret rare on the card list, which only comes once per booster box.
D-Boyz is my ultimate hate card, and the reason why I stopped buying booster boxes, which was an executive decision I made that lasted until I quit the game flat-out. D-Boyz ruined booster boxes for me.

@Charmiskit well mermails/atlanteans are good archetypes but i did not count them as i count them as support for water attribute and not fish or sea-serpent support (well i never played them, but i remember most of their effects are for water monsters and not fish/sea serpent monsters. therefore i did not count them as"type support" for sea-serpents and fish.
and well if you take those out of the equation it is very scarce. i mean when i wrote this comment, i could think of no sea-serpent support card and only 1 fish support card in "oh f!sh!" (yes that is the actual name).
the only pyro support card i could think of is royal firestorm guard.
while for reptiles and rocks there were at least 2 cards i could think of. also, volcanics don t contribute for me as "support for pyro types" because their effects are locked into volcanic monsters. a non-volcanic pyro deck can't use them.
Honestly, except for Ultimya Tzolkin, I think REDMD is the best dragon type monster in the game. It is easy to bring out, has a crazy good effect, and has good attack points. Plus, with Black Metal Dragon and other cards, it is extremely easy to get.
I was gonna say Shapesnatch a normal 5* 1200 attack 1700 dark machine type, but while looking to remember it's name I found one even worse.
Swordslasher is a normal 5* 1450 attack, 1500 defense, dark machine type.
It's a target for Chaos End Master so no. Also can be summoned from the deck with Mystic Tomato.
