- Honda are the only manufacturer to have designed a double-clutch transmission small enough to be used on a bike. We put two of the bikes they've fitted it to head-to-head and see if it's worth the effort.
In octobre 2010 I had a motorcycleaccident. I stayed in a coma until end of january 2011 and when I came out of that coma my right side, arm and leg were paralysed, the result of 9 braindamages. I spent almost a year in a wheelchair in a special clinic where people with braindamage revalidate. Thereafter I was sent home and I decided to walk again, which I did, step by step. I passed the necessary physical tests and exams to drive a car and a motorcycle again but I have to drive automatically and there, the Honda NC700X DCT ABS is a dream because it makes possible for me to drive a motorcycle, again. Besides that coma I also had multiple bones broken, skull, neck, ribs trough my lungs, spine, right hand, right leg and foot, but I am a biker again and I love it and, that Honda is really fuel efficient. Thank You Honda ! I have the impression that motorcycles and scooters are merging together. Also in cars I see more and more automatic gearboxes lately. And if anyone thinks that I am obsessed by motorcycles, I also drive a Vespa scooter and I am a member of a Vespaclub.
Hi, I had similar injuries but nowhere near as bad as yours. I had many broken bones, collar bone, vertebra etc but the worst was the brachial plexus lesion resulting in the loss of use and subsequent amputation of my right arm. Luckily everything else seems to have recovered and is working as it should. I'd love to get back riding, do you ride ok only with your left hand and did you have the controls moved to the left. Please reply, I'd love to chat.
+Jonathan Williams Well, I also have problems with my short term memory so I do not know if I already answered your questions. Alltough my right arm was paralysed when I came out of that coma one of the first results that I had, following the kinesytherapic exercises at the clinic of Pellenberg, was that I could reuse that arm. Maybe the fact that I boxed before and trained weightlifting (I benchpressed 150 kilos) and that I was a diver helped but I do not know. There are still 4 docters, and my familydocter, who are wondering how it is possible because when I woke up after those 3 months coma the 4 docters who kept me alive during that time came to stand before my bed and told me what had happened since I did not remember. They told me that during that coma I died 5 times but that each time I reacted very well to the reanimation and came back. They also told me that I had to prepare myself psychologicly to spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair and with limited intellectual capabilities due to the braindamages I suffered. Now, I am always lucky and one of my sisters is a psychiatric nurse who has worked before in that revalidationclinic at Pellenberg, near the university of leuven and she managed to get me into that clinic where I lived for about 9 months. Well, they drove me in lying on an ambulancelitter and 9 months later I got out of that wheelchair and made a few steps to the car of a female friend who drove me home. Once home I exercised every day to walk and step by step I advanced. I will never again walk 25 miles like I regularly did before but I manage to have a reasonable normal life. I also am almost 60 years old so the age is beginning to count also I presume. I have absolutely no idea if it is possible to ride a motorcycle with one arm but Can-Am makes wonderful tricycles. Maybe there is a solution to that problem. I also have no idea how the american services are reacting to those problems. Here in Belgium there is a special service the BIVV/CARA who studies and manages those problems and who decide if you are able to drive and how your vehicle has to be adapted to your physical shortcomings. Oh yes, I am no longer allowed to dive since my lungs are to small because my ribs went through my right lung so I have not enough air in my body and they told me that the air in my empty head did not count, damn !
+Jonathan Williams have you found a solution yet ? How are you doing ? Overhere winter is almost completely gone and I can not wait to make some nice rides on the Honda. Il almost have 30.000 km on the counter. Luckily there was no need to change anything since I can reuse my right arm completely.
Dirk Authuys Glad to hear that you are well my friend!
Well done mate, I take my hat off to you.
I have had the NC700 Integra for two years now. I commute 40km everyday and have even done 960km in a single day when I did a road trip.
At first I didn't like its looks, but the bike is still growing on me. I enjoy every ride.
My average fuel consumption for the past two years is just over 27km/l.
My only complaints are (1) the seat is very wide and makes it difficult for me to put my feet flat on the ground - I am only 1.7m. However, when my wife rides pillion it is much better.
(2) it takes longer to remove the body panels than to service the bike. And they aren't that easy to remove, because all clips and skrews are hidden.
But overall it's an awesome bike. I don't want to get rid of it.
Hi, deciding if I should take the NC700X. I am 1.70m aswell. I am tiptoeying the bike, but stable, doesn't feel too much heavy, but just tried to sit on it didn't ride. How is it in traffic and is easy to ride with a passenger on the bike considering your high.
Why don't they just put the rear brake on the left hand side on NC700X?
Because it's still a motorcycle. Also, they make a manual version of it, so probably to cut costs on the manufacturing differences that might arise with a handlebar mounted brake.
I own a NC750x dct and it the best bike I ha ve ever driven. Like he said in the end it's the best commuting bike in the world.
That is the model I am going to get. Fine for long stretches on the open road too. I am looking forward to it.
Marc get one you'll love it!!
I have one as well! I came off a Kawasaki Concours (GTR 1400) and believe it or not I enjoy the NC750X DCT much more than the much more powerful Kawasaki. It’s also nice to hit some dirt trails on the NC, something I could never do on the Kawi.
I have the 700 X and love this bike. Its not designed to be a street racer. If that's what you are looking for then this is not the bike for you. If you looking for an awesome commuter and weekend rides out with mates to any destination at reasonable speeds at a great price then yes, this is the bike to get.
I had NC750X and now I have Integra 750. This test is for what? Track race? This test means nothing. Integra is much much better in the city. Much more rotation in the handlebar and much easier to throw in small corners around the city because it handles like a scooter. Both bikes need some custom seats.
how does the integra compare with the X-adv 750
the Integra should not considered as a scooter, but a hybrid between scooter and motorcycle, first of it kind maybe.
I'll take one of each!
I love scooters but i bought the nc700x its brilliant it handles very well and as got the room to store a helmet in the front .
Me too :-) I can't believe my NC700X motorcycle has more storage than the Integra Scooter!
the integra is hardly a scooter!
make DCT with Shaft Drive
they did, the original DCT VFR 1200
@@TheSudsy make it a DCT with shaft drive and 750cc. hehehehehheh
Very nice review 👍👍👍
Subscribed and liked the video
Regards 🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬
It's like a car since it is the Honda Jazz/Fit engine literally cut in half
Finally some bike review! You're reviews are great! but can you upload them more frequently?
Shape on honda for bringing the legendary integra name plate back on a damn scooter.
You Look Goofy in that white suit
A comparison of a sccoter and a DCT..... on a track? WTH? How about in the rain.
Very poor track skill.. Put your Damn foot up or have wheel chair ready.. Look at 03:25
Yes! I want to see some Japanese
Thanks for a great video, this may be my future ride following a motorcycle accident 9 years ago suffering the right brachial plexus injury resulting in the loss of use and amputation of my right arm. Could the throttle and front brake be moved to the left hand side and do you think it'd be possible to ride with only my left arm? Thanks again for a great review.
its a bit weird honda developed the nc700x as a do all commuter with massive fuel economy etc , and all owners seem to say the seat is the worst most uncomfortable seat ever ?????? seems very un honda , such a major oversight for THIS kind of bike ? anyone ??....
motokrack I think the seat is awesome
Integra!
I test rode one at a Honda ride program. (not a DCT)
The engine has awesome low end torque but it doesn't rev.
I hit the rev limiter several times before I adjusted my riding technique.
Nc700 rules :)
I was decided on getting this bike first but I am glad I waited for the Africa Twin... Performance wise its a completely different animal and made my commutes so much fun. I will really recommend anyone deciding on the NC700 or NC750 to test out the Africa Twin first, Yeah price difference is steep but you are getting 2x the Bike with lots of utility.
I like the Africa Twin too :-) On the other hand, I LUV just about everything about my NC700----the look, the frunk, the option to do manual with DCT! If only I could flat-foot it... Sadly, the Africa Twin is even taller for me.
You commute on an Africa Twin?? What do you use to swat flies? A chainsaw?? 🤣
has a helmet post outside ?
Sounds great live.
Thank You
Integra DCT is not very pretty
I like my manual NC
"Going to compare two very different bikes"
>Bikes are literally identical except for the faring.
Scumbag Bike Show, never change.
NC700 sucks! anyone who isn't being paid to say it's good or has not mistakenly bought one knows what a bluff of a motorcycle this is.
It's a practical bike, not a sportbike. It excels at what it is designed to do.
bikes are also designed to ride comfortable for everyday commuting and this come also do weekend riding. A bike with 260kg and 47hp rides like a 1200kg 200hp car
+ALIENdrifter66 so my cb500x which is 195kg(ABS) and 47hp is the 1200kg 250hp car? :P ..as far as acceleration they are fast for their size, not much top speed but on the other hand you don't crave for absolute top hp's or speed that category is sports bikes :P
P.S. I love the upright position, moved from a Ninja 250r(FI ..European model) ..and can't go back really
crackerworld ofcourse you won't get that high top speed on a low hp bike but you get a lot of acceleration, in most cases with you bike you can win from 0-140km/h. And being real you don't need top speed on public streets, what you need is acceleration.
what you did not like when you tried it?
