/ vehiclehunter The NC700x is a bike that not alot of americans know of. A twin cylinder bike that gets the MPG of a scooter from a 700cc engine. Durable, practical and reliable are key. It's also a bike that is easy to work on, in a world of excess Honda gives you just the tip.

I've owned an NC700X DCT for 9 years. 50000miles. FANTASTIC. Great commuter. Amazing fuel economy 75mpg (UK).
Great in slow London traffic, very manouverable at low speeds between cars. Capable on the highway but is never going to set any 0-60mph records.
In 9 years the only non-standard part that has failed is the water pump. Great bike

What you never hear anyone say is that the NC is a GREAT bike on curvy roads, the torque is way more important than horsepower when you only need to go, say, 30-80 mph and *that* is where the true fun riding is. The NC easily kept up with top shelf sport touring bikes in my riding group...RT, GS, KTM, GSX-S, FJR, 'Wing, Ninja, Ducati. None of them ran away from the NC. Top speed, of course, but under 100 mph, no problem. The bike is fun, confidence inspiring, and fast enough to hang with almost anyone but the most insane. A monkey can pin the throttle on a straight, ho hum, but push the NC to its limits, that's a blast.

I sold my Concours14 for a safer Miata NC to take my kids with. But with the recent poor leadership choices the gas is likely to stay high due to the green goals of some. So I’m considering getting a 2 wheel option again in case prices sky rocket. 60mpg + and something that fits me sounds very practical.

Already bought the NC700X. $3500 2012 with some extras like brand new Michelin’s Pilot Power 2Ct (odd choice) but literally less than 10miles on them, heated seat, Honda top case. All dealer services every 4K miles. Now time to change all fluids, plugs, valve check, center stand and many more upgrades.

Nice, I still haven't checked my valves yet but have done all the other maintenance. I avg 60-64 mpg on my fill ups. Its a great basic bike to be on two wheels and sip fuel. I added oxford touring heated grips, ugly tall Vstream with sport deflector , engine bars, radiator protector , vox bar risers, lowered pegs and it is a comfy upright bike. I might change the sprocket to allow me to cruise at 3300 rpm at 70mph. I found on a 5hr trip where I was pushing it around 80mph the entire way I dropped into the 40's MPG. The engine really likes mid 3000 - 3500 range RPM for fuel economy. On the way back I took slower mountain roads and avg 50-60mph and was back into the 60's. For this practical the bike is a great budget focused rided. The engine is mild and not really that fun but it should last a long time being so detuned. I never even hit 8000k miles on it each year so yearly oil changes is all I will be doing.@@PeteMoss1021

Thanks for the review. I’m a new biker (2 years) and want to go farther than my Honda shadow phantom will take me. I’m 5’8”, 58 years old, considering the CB500X (2023). I’m curious which other Hondas would you recommend to consider for long travels. I’m not a Goldwinger.

I usually like Hondas, but not this time. Heavy, slow, low revving, poor braking, uncomfortable seating, limited suspension, Inconveniet fueling, Short fuel mileage range,...🤦🏼‍♂️

@@thudtheace I speak from experience (WITH EXPERIENCE) I saw many ABS motorcycles being tested during my Motorcycle Road Course exam, and I saw most of them perform poorly doing the 20mph emergency stop in the rain.

@@thudtheace I’m a 54 year old Motorcyclist. After hearing from more than one rider who has an ABS system on their motorcycle, I’ve heard their complaints of system failure. The reasons why I haven’t ridden a motorcycle with ABS is because
      #1 I DON’T WANT ONE
      # 2 I DONT NEED ONE
#3 (Without ABS) I can perform Stoppies (in the rain). Why would I chose a braking system that bleeds out it’s brake pressure the harder that you apply the brakes. I make my own adjustments to braking, because I know how to ride, I know how to sense the road, and I know how to make a motorcycle stop as fast as it can.
But, that’s me. I’m an expert.
What riding skills do you possess (besides the need for ABS) .
