Don,I absolutely love Gene Watson and Larry Gatlin. They both have a distinct voice. When I hear a song playing,I know exactly who they are, just by their voices. Thank you for reacting to these two wonderful singers.

This was written by Larry Gatlin. First recorded by the great Dottie West. She's the one that brought Larry to Nashville. Larry Gatlin is probably Gene Watson's biggest fan

I saw Gene Watson in person at the Tupperware Auditorium in Orlando, FL back in the late 1970's and Larry Gatlin at Disney World in 1977 along with Ronnie Milsap and Crystal Gayle. I was able to get her autograph as well as Gene Watson's. I used to have all of their LP's and 45's at one time when I had my huge collection of vinyl. BTW, Larry Gatlin wrote this song.

What a great pairing. I have been a fan of both these guys for a very long time, but this is the first time I have heard them together. With Gene's ability to hold a note and Larry's vibrato, it blended perfect.

Thank you Don for reacting to this song I requested! Your reaction was perfect. And the song got a 10!! Gene Watsons voice is always great but when I heard Larry Gatlin on this song I was so impressed & he outshone Gene by a little bit. And I know it made Joe feel good that you wore the watch😊 He’s not a people person & only likes a handful of people & you’re in that group. Again thanks Don, that made my day!

@Lea Skinner I'm glad the reaction hit a few chords that resonated with you and Joe! Every so often a song comes along and hits me in the right way eat the right time, and this was one of them, no doubt about it. Thank you for the suggestion--I know others appreciate it too, and some folks even said they'd never heard it before so that's a big credit to you. :-)

I had the privilege of seeing Amanda Shires about 8 years ago at our local venue, Ignition Music. The absolute best songwriter I've ever had the opportunity to hear. This song killed the room. So glad she is getting the recognition she so deserves. And her bass player was the Nashville legend Annie Clements, who is an absolute legend!

Gene is a singer’s singer and Larry is a huge fan (as are a most of the other stars - did you see how Little Jimmy Dickens reacted?). Check out Larry when Gene sings Farewell Party or I Don’t Need A Thing At All.

My wife was tickled to death when she saw this. We both agree that Larry Gatlin was the stronger & thats hard to do against Gene Watson. My brother that passed away, Gary, turned us both onto this song. The harmony is unbelievable & the friendship they have for each other is great.

@Joe Skinner I'm glad your brother turned you and Lea onto this song, and I'm sorry he passed away. It would have been pretty cool if he could have seen the video that Lea requested and the whole comical cast of characters we've got on the channel. :-)

@@RockN2Country Gary was super cool. Out of 6 brothers, I love them all, but Gary I actually liked. He was a friend. I still cry when I think about him. Best drummer in Tucson from about 1970-1990. He could bench press 420 pounds but he never bothered anyone. Didn't care about fighting. Just a good guy.

Hadn't heard the song before which is one of the reasons I enjoy your channel. You are consistently doing reactions to artists that the other channels over look. Thanks again for all your efforts and marvelous work.

Brought to mind Roger Miller's When A House Is Not A Home. I like Gatlin's early stuff like I Just Wish You Were Someone I Loved, Broken Lady. And I really like original studio recordings. You can't get a real feeling of Larry's voice when he's older.

First the rating - definitely 10 or better. I have never heard this song before, but my face hurts from smiling. I think, as they say, they were "hamming it up." I kinda got that idea when I saw everybody laughing or smiling. Two of the great voices in country music. We got to see Gene many years ago, and I talked to him for a couple of minutes. I said that we had seen him on Nashville Now. He replied that Ralph Emery always got him in trouble. I also saw another favorite, Johnny Rodriguez, sitting behind them. He is being overlooked after all his success. Fans want him in the Hall of Fame.
