Totally agree. People need to learn to deal with their own insecurities in a more productive way. Why does tearing someone else down make anyone feel better? Makes no sense to me.
I have dropped a couple of travel bloggers and I never said a word on their channels, just unsubscribed and stopped watching them. I had wondered if I should have said anything - not meanly, just a quiet statement of the reason why I was no longer watching (in one case because I got tired of him being in drop dead gorgeous places such as national parks, and complaining he had been to better places). But I just quietly left. This video confirmed to me that I did the correct thing.
It's great to hear a viewers perspective on this! While we cannot speak for all creators, we have received many messages and emails along the lines of "I love your videos, but ____ (and insert many things they do not like lol)" and for us personally, as we are trying to create videos that showcase our authentic selves and what makes US happy, it stings a bit. While we have taken a lot of feedback and tried to get better over time, there are certain things we cannot change without changing who we are. So if someone doesn't like the words we choose to say, how we look, our personality (or lack thereof, which is a piece of feedback we got lol), we personally would rather them not tell us, as those types of things are just who we are and feel like slight personal attacks to us. And usually it means we just aren't the best fit for them, which is okay! If our audio is glitching a lot or there is a more technical issue, we definitely like to know those things! Hopefully that makes sense! But in our shoes, we think you did the right thing!
I'm actually surprised you don't have more subscribers, you have it all: personality, food, travel and knowledge . Would love to see a video on the real Kona; may help us all see the reality of a kitchen sink dog when traveling.

I JUST said earlier this morning if there's ever a term that I've heard that has resonated with me more than anything, it's "imposter syndrome." I totally get it. I've really enjoyed your videos especially the last 2 years where you've been on a journey. I'm a fellow traveler but able to do 3-4 trips a year. Last year included Death Valley & Outer Banks. This summer is Sequoia. You have given me ideas on hikes. It's also fun to see you visit places I've been. It's so unfortunate that some people choose to be negative and hurtful. I want you to know that watching your videos has reminded me how much I love the outdoors and camping. And I started camping again. I’m a 61 your old Single woman with a 14-year-old Chihuahua! She and I have done lots of hiking kayaking camping snowshoeing etc. Last few years we haven’t done much as I have knee problems. But watching your videos has reminded me of the joy of being outdoors and with some modifications her and I are back out camping and enjoying the outdoors again! What I like about your videos is that you put a lot of research into your travel..hikes, itinerary, food choices, etc. I use your videos a lot to plan my own trips.
For goodness sake don’t listen to the negatives, you carry on as normal and don’t let them upset you! I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer last year and got to say one of the things I looked forward to after every weeks treatment were your posts, so please, please keep it up!

your Dad is so right to enjoy the moment 😉 . I know before my trip to Colorado and Utah I did as much I could do in 15 days but i remember an old park ranger at Arches on a you tube vide she mentioned dont just do a selfie at a spot in the park and hurry to the next point or trail in that park. She said please take 15mins and really take in what is before your eyes. I know after making the climb to Delicate Arch many people were standing in line to do a picture by the Arch then just leaving. I actually spent over an hour up there seeing it from different angles taking pictures for couples and families and learned more deatils and saw the Arch in different light and backgrounds 🙃 after that I truly paced myself as much I could and had a better time because of not rushing through!
Ya we get caught up in the “alright we got the shot now let’s go” moment occasionally. We had a similar experience at Delicate Arch. We got there for sunrise and just sat and marveled at it for a couple hours. Then got up and checked it out from different angles.
You guys are an INSPIRATION!!!! Ignore anything that tells you otherwise!! You're such a delightful couple and you've kept me sane over the last couple of years during the world's longest lockdowns here in Melbourne, Australia!!! Someone I know who also used to live in the PNW highly recommended we add a day stop there. As for Alaska, I can't wait to see your travels!!! A few years ago, my two adult children and I traveled there, and some of our favorite memories include hiking a part of the Chilkoot Trail and jumping into a river raft float down the Taiya River in Skagway, an epic Viking canoe paddle to and terrifying yet majestic trek ON the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, riding the green transit bus to and from Eielson Visitor Center at mile 66 in Denali NP, and taking the 12-hour scenic train ride from Fairbanks to Anchorage. I started watching you guys during the pandemic and you really inspired me to travel to the US - something that never interested me before! One of my fav things about you is that you take the time to speak about the native history of the places you visit rather than gloss over. Totally agree about van life in Europe - the windy little streets may not take well to a big ol’ van! When you do come back to Europe (and I’ve commented this before), you have to visit beautiful Wales 🏴!

@@AdventuresofAplusK Snowdonia is beautiful, and you’ll have to visit Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch as a rite of passage to Wales! The south gets a bit overlooked but Brecon Beacons is luscious and green (highly recommend Llyn y Fan Fach) and Pembrokeshire is breath taking (home to the smallest city in the UK and birthplace of our patron saint, St David’s). Of course we also have tons of mining history and lots and lots of very cute sheep! I have no doubt you guys will love it here and your videos will do us justice! And now back to binge watching the Alaska Highway vlogs 😄

Have to tell you how much we love watching you both! You put so much thought, content, and energy in your videos that the only thing we'd say about bullies is they're jealous. REALLY! I like when you do these type a videos. Feels very real. Also, if you're ever in Port Angeles, swing by The Coffee Box and say hi. We're also, into vanlife, just not full time yet. We also have a spot you can boondock at in the heart of our town.
I watch a few other offerings like yours and also a couple solo trekking offerings where the person goes all over the world, also a few sailing videos of folks going around the world. Eventually they all have question and answers. This one was the longest, most in depth, honest, candid, and articulate I have ever seen. Such thought out answers that address the question. You just raise the bar on what folks like you should be. I have never subscribed to anything. Always stand offish because I don't want to be blasted with intrusions, I wish I never invited. Coming close to joining you two. You two seem so candid and honest. BTW, the negative crap you get. I have come to realize, there are some out there that exist only to slam anything. I have seen nasty comments toward something that the comment had nothing to do with the subject matter. There is hate and misery out there that those who live in it, want others to experience, so they make nasty comments. Sad. Don't dwell on those. They are without merit.

thank you so much for shedding light on kona's reactivity. i have a reactive dog and while she's the sweetest thing, it is so hard to manage her reactiveness and anxiety. when you shared this about kona, it made me feel that my pup wasn't the only one. i was so nervous about traveling with her, but i have learned a lot of training techniques, and she's been a great travel companion. i am glad to see from your videos that it's possible to travel so much with a reactive dog. kona clearly loves you so much!
Yes it is very nice to hear that we aren't the only ones who struggle with this. It can very embarrassing when out in public when your dog freaks out. Also, it is a bummer when you have to miss out on certain things because your dog won't be able to handle it. Kona is super sweet in the van, but often times a handful when out and about. It is definitely possible to travel you just have to put them first always and be an advocate for them when you know a situation is coming up. Off leash dogs are the bane of our existence! Hello. I am watching your video a little late. We just came back from Hot Springs AR. Your video from your visit was very helpful. I get how frustrating it can be at time. I have never been able to understand why people feel the need to share criticism vs share there own good experience or knowledge of an area to make the next visitor have an even better visit. My wife, Sheila, and i have found your videos to be more enjoyable than others. You focus on nature, the local food, and things to do, and not on how to spend money on upgrades or what we need to do to enjoy getting out. Keep doing what you do and enjoy the experience.CONGRATS!!

Totally agree. People need to learn to deal with their own insecurities in a more productive way. Why does tearing someone else down make anyone feel better? Makes no sense to me.
I have dropped a couple of travel bloggers and I never said a word on their channels, just unsubscribed and stopped watching them. I had wondered if I should have said anything - not meanly, just a quiet statement of the reason why I was no longer watching (in one case because I got tired of him being in drop dead gorgeous places such as national parks, and complaining he had been to better places). But I just quietly left. This video confirmed to me that I did the correct thing.

It's great to hear a viewers perspective on this! While we cannot speak for all creators, we have received many messages and emails along the lines of "I love your videos, but ____ (and insert many things they do not like lol)" and for us personally, as we are trying to create videos that showcase our authentic selves and what makes US happy, it stings a bit.
While we have taken a lot of feedback and tried to get better over time, there are certain things we cannot change without changing who we are. So if someone doesn't like the words we choose to say, how we look, our personality (or lack thereof, which is a piece of feedback we got lol), we personally would rather them not tell us, as those types of things are just who we are and feel like slight personal attacks to us. And usually it means we just aren't the best fit for them, which is okay! If our audio is glitching a lot or there is a more technical issue, we definitely like to know those things!
Hopefully that makes sense! But in our shoes, we think you did the right thing!

I've really enjoyed your videos especially the last 2 years where you've been on a journey. I'm a fellow traveler but able to do 3-4 trips a year. Last year included Death Valley & Outer Banks. I want you to know that watching your videos has reminded me how much I love the outdoors and camping. And I started camping again. I’m a 61 your old Single woman with a 14-year-old Chihuahua! She and I have done lots of hiking kayaking camping snowshoeing etc. Last few years we haven’t done much as I have knee problems. But watching your videos has reminded me of the joy of being outdoors and with some modifications her and I are back out camping and enjoying the outdoors again! your Dad is so right to enjoy the moment 😉 . I know before my trip to Colorado and Utah I did as much I could do in 15 days but i remember an old park ranger at Arches on a you tube vide she mentioned dont just do a selfie at a spot in the park and hurry to the next point or trail in that park. She said please take 15mins and really take in what is before your eyes. I know after making the climb to Delicate Arch many people were standing in line to do a picture by the Arch then just leaving. I actually spent over an hour up there seeing it from different angles taking pictures for couples and families and learned more deatils and saw the Arch in different light and backgrounds 🙃 after that I truly paced myself as much I could and had a better time because of not rushing through!
Ya we get caught up in the “alright we got the shot now let’s go” moment occasionally. We had a similar experience at Delicate Arch. We got there for sunrise and just sat and marveled at it for a couple hours. Then got up and checked it out from different angles.
You guys are an INSPIRATION!!!! Ignore anything that tells you otherwise!! So, I'm especially looking forward to your upcoming video about Cape Disappointment - I will be traveling through there on our summer road trip! Someone I know who also used to live in the PNW highly recommended we add a day stop there. As for Alaska, I can't wait to see your travels!!! A few years ago, my two adult children and I traveled there, and some of our favorite memories include hiking a part of the Chilkoot Trail and jumping into a river raft float down the Taiya River in Skagway, an epic Viking canoe paddle to and terrifying yet majestic trek ON the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, riding the green transit bus to and from Eielson Visitor Center at mile 66 in Denali NP, and taking the 12-hour scenic train ride from Fairbanks to Anchorage. You're right in what you said at the end: there will ALWAYS be something new to see in the US!! Cheers to you both on your 100K+ subscribers!!

I started watching you guys during the pandemic and you really inspired me to travel to the US - something that never interested me before! One of my fav things about you is that you take the time to speak about the native history of the places you visit rather than gloss over.
Totally agree about van life in Europe - the windy little streets may not take well to a big ol’ van! When you do come back to Europe (and I’ve commented this before), you have to visit beautiful Wales 🏴!

@@AdventuresofAplusK Snowdonia is beautiful, and you’ll have to visit Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch as a rite of passage to Wales! The south gets a bit overlooked but Brecon Beacons is luscious and green (highly recommend Llyn y Fan Fach) and Pembrokeshire is breath taking (home to the smallest city in the UK and birthplace of our patron saint, St David’s). Of course we also have tons of mining history and lots and lots of very cute sheep! I have no doubt you guys will love it here and your videos will do us justice! And now back to binge watching the Alaska Highway vlogs 😄

I watch a few other offerings like yours and also a couple solo trekking offerings where the person goes all over the world, also a few sailing videos of folks going around the world. Eventually they all have question and answers. This one was the longest, most in depth, honest, candid, and articulate I have ever seen. Such thought out answers that address the question. You just raise the bar on what folks like you should be. I have never subscribed to anything. Always stand offish because I don't want to be blasted with intrusions, I wish I never invited. Coming close to joining you two. You two seem so candid and honest. BTW, the negative crap you get. I have come to realize, there are some out there that exist only to slam anything. I have seen nasty comments toward something that the comment had nothing to do with the subject matter. There is hate and misery out there that those who live in it, want others to experience, so they make nasty comments. Sad. Don't dwell on those. They are without merit.

thank you so much for shedding light on kona's reactivity. i have a reactive dog and while she's the sweetest thing, it is so hard to manage her reactiveness and anxiety. when you shared this about kona, it made me feel that my pup wasn't the only one. i was so nervous about traveling with her, but i have learned a lot of training techniques, and she's been a great travel companion. i am glad to see from your videos that it's possible to travel so much with a reactive dog. kona clearly loves you so much!
Yes it is very nice to hear that we aren't the only ones who struggle with this. It can very embarrassing when out in public when your dog freaks out. Also, it is a bummer when you have to miss out on certain things because your dog won't be able to handle it. Kona is super sweet in the van, but often times a handful when out and about. It is definitely possible to travel you just have to put them first always and be an advocate for them when you know a situation is coming up. Off leash dogs are the bane of our existence! I have never been able to understand why people feel the need to share criticism vs share there own good experience or knowledge of an area to make the next visitor have an even better visit. My wife, Sheila, and i have found your videos to be more enjoyable than others. You focus on nature, the local food, and things to do, and not on how to spend money on upgrades or what we need to do to enjoy getting out. Keep doing what you do and enjoy the experience.CONGRATS!!
