- Learning how to surf has been on Adam's bucket list for YEARS! 🏄🏻♂️ And while here in California he finally got to make it happen and took a private lesson with Santa Barbara Surf School in Ventura. He had a blast out on the water and we of course had to end the day with some fish tacos! 🌮

Good job. Surfing is one sport I didn't try and wanted to in my youth. I lived in So Cal about 45 min from the beach. Those tacos made my mouth water.

The editing in this was so cool - loved the slo-mo wipeout at 4:09 with the cross over of the noise from under water sounding like Adam splashing into the water... so cool! Too funny with the shots of 'not Adam' I bet there were so many more too! 🤣 Can't believe you lost your wedding ring... and how chilled you both were by it! I tried surfing, just once in Costa Rica (with hindsight I think the area had too big waves for beginners) and I was terrible - put me off wanting to ever try again so when I was guessing how many times you'd get up, I guessed just once... sorry!!!
Thanks! It was really fun to put this one together! The wedding ring was just a rubber 'workout' ring that was several years old now and was getting loose .So I needed a new one anyway...I just feel bad that I littered 😑
That's how I've been with skiing. We've had a couple bad experiences that have made me not want to try it again. But time heals everything so I am warming up to trying skiing again one day 😂. I'm thankful the waves were calm enough that I could practice the skill of popping up and finding my balance! Before that day I felt like I'd be lucky to get up once!

Nice job Adam, I recall trying to get up on a board in Huntington Beach and I never did, so I applaud your accomplishment. It probably helped that you had an instructor since I never knew the steps to get up, you might say. I did plenty of body surfing in HB and that was a lot of fun. Those fish tacos looked really good as well, SOCal knows how to do it up!
It definitely helped having an instructor and a calm ocean to learn on! SoCal does know how to do it! We’re having a blast

Nice job! Dude I tried surfing on the east coast of Florida and it's no joke. Super challenging to pop up and get balanced and ride the wave. I did it once without falling and it was freaking exhilarating.
Thanks! This was the perfect learning environment. Had a great teacher and the waves were the perfect speed/height to learn on. Plus the board I used was a soft top so it is very beginner friendly. Every time I stood up on it I had the biggest smile. I'm hooked!
That was a great job Adam, I knew you could do it. I used to surf that beach back back in 1967 68 with my buddies.

Having lived in Ventura and surfed here for 20+ years now can I just say THANK YOU for actually going to a Learner Beach and not getting in the way at our other local hot spots where I get to watch newcomers get absolutely rekt. Like thank you. Really.
You can thank Santa Barbara Surf School for that one. I didn’t pick the spot, but I was happy with the choice also. I wouldn’t want to get in the way either….or get rekt. Especially for someone learning and it being my first time 🤙
One of my brothers taught me to surf in the early 80s at "The Point" in Ventura when it was a dirt road. Big tanker board... stood up (eventually), but that rush was awesome! At that moment the I understood the Beach Boys song "Catch a Wave And You're Sitting on Top of The World".
I felt that way too for the brief moments I caught the baby “waves” I had 😂 it was a ton of fun and I can’t wait to try again! Thanks for watching!

That big smile on Adam's face had one one ours and of course we were cheering when he stood up on the second try too. Don't worry about the ring I lost mine in our garden years ago and we are still going strong with our 23rd anniversary coming up. I understand the naked feeling though but it fades. Made our mouths water with those tacos.

Get out Adam- standing up on your second wave is unheard of!!! There aren't many sports more difficult than golf, but surfing is definitely one! Just know that seeing your athletic ability makes us want plenty of strokes when we tee it together! Congrats mate!!

Well, I had to have a fish taco after view this! Beautiful day for a bike ride to the shores of Lake Erie in Port Dover Ontario! While sharing fish tacos with my husband and daughter and son in law, I found myself doing a A+K review on these tasty tacos! Thanks guys! Still catching up on all your adventures! As I read the title, I was so excited to see it because it's so near my hometown and my first thought was, "dang, I wish I could've told them to go to Surf 'N Taco for a fish taco!." lol crazy They are the absolute BEST. So glad you got to try them. The Breakfast House is good too, on Main St, and they have been bringing everything into the street since Covid and it ends up feeling like a big block party. love love.

I was pretty happy and proud of myself! Luckily it was just a Qalo ring and I could get another quickly. I hate that I littered, but I needed a new one anyways as the other was getting worn and loose. The “real” ring is safe back at home in Austin!

I never comment but you can't go to the beach without hitting a handout joint on the beach. Order strips with extra cheese and load on the sauce! Add a cheeseburger and a frozen banana for dessert. It doesn't matter which hand out place, its all traditional Calif beach food. 😁😋 have fun and stay safe

Haha lucky you! I noticed about halfway into the session that it was trying to slip off. It had been getting worn and loose over the last few months. I shouldn’t took it off and tucked it into my cuff when I noticed that. Oh well 🤷♂️

Make sure you see Hearst Castle and Winchester House. North of San Francisco stay on the 1 it is a beautiful drive. Not like I need to tell you what to do, you guys got it down!! Hearst Castle wasn’t open when we were there, but they said they were reopening soon. So we’ll have to go next time. And no we aren’t visiting all the national parks on this trip

No we didn’t. Kathryn was an advertising major so that’s kind of related I suppose and I went to school to be a teacher. We’ve just learned over time and tried to get better every video. Thank you for those comments they mean a lot! I’m glad our hard work shows. Thanks for watching!
