Just a little disappointed because the first tip was already a bit off... Collars can be really unsafe for puppies with weak neck muscles! It's better to use a harness in general anyway but especially when they're still growing. I will add I enjoyed the rest! Strict schedule and supervision and engagement are key 😊

@@IAmJeka A Blue Heeler is the Australian Cattle Dog, also known as the Red Heeler. Australian Shepherds (Also known as Aussies) and Australian Cattle Dogs are two different breeds....that definitely look different!

I have dreamt of having a dog ever since I can remember, my husband and I are now finally actively looking for a puppy to bring home. Hopefully by the end of this year. I have a 9 week old vizsla puppy named Billy. I only have her for one week and she can already sit and talk! I’m now busy with crate training cause that is pretty important! She is doing really well in the night and most of the time she does her potty outside! But sometimes there are some normal pup accidents🙈 I go on a jog daily with Billy and I do walks in the weekends. I saw your video the day before I got Billy and it helped a LOT! Thank you for your good advise and your tips! Hope to see more of this!💓

I’m hoping to pick up my new puppy from the shelter this week. Haven’t had a puppy in 12 years so this was a great reminder of what to do the first few days especially when you have other pets.

It's been 8 years since a had a puppy and I'm planning on getting one in August my friends dog is having puppys for the second time.
I took her litter mate with me too. Lol. 1 helpful tip I found with my pups that worked,WD-40 every door so they don’t make Any type of squeak noise or even think about it! My Yorkie pup’s wake up & start crying if they hear it. Lol

How did it go? I just got my beagle puppy yesterday, and the first night in the crate, with me sleeping right next to it, was... unpleasant. He's a screamer.
For me I really love it when I get the puppy and go to the pet store and fitting on a collar, kind of a right of passage or saying welcome home

Great, simply put advice! We are currently introducing a great Dane puppy to our bully pup, she is 10 mo. Pup is 9 weeks...I thought let them be together and our bully is a bit rough. I thought keep seprayed for few weeks in and out so this had made it rock solid for me...wasn't sure if it was a good technique..now I do! Thanks

I want to first off start by saying I really enjoy your videos. There a ton of helpful tips and tricks. I want to ask about the house line in specific. I understand what it’s for and how to use it but is there no place in puppy training where you will use the word “NO!!” in order to stop the puppy from getting into trouble?

What a great channel! I'm so glad Yeti and I found it. Yeti is my 3 year old Samoyed. Little Levi is really cute. Great suggestions you have. Yeti was such a great puppy. It helped that I've owned dogs before. You really have to baby proof your house. Accidents....any suggestions for northern breed, exceptionally smart dogs? Yeti took 6 months to potty train him. He was quick and immediate after playing, eating and drinking. Glad I found your channel!
Hi there, Yeti’s Place! I’m glad you found the McCann Dog Training channel too! Anytime your pup is having accidents on your home, you need to increase the amount of supervision that you’re giving them. If Yeti has an accident indoors and you aren’t there to give him information, he won’t know that it isn’t the right behavior. You need to be ready to know what to do when you catch him in the act. Thanks, Ken, for your quick reply. I really do appreciate it when UA-cam creators take the time to respond. Means so much to a viewer (and fellow UA-camr). To not get a comment back, really hurts, so I’m glad you responded. Yeti is the second Samoyed I’ve owned. We learned SO much after our first Samoyed. lol. I knew to take Yeti outside immediately when he’d stop playing, eating and drinking. Problem was, he was super fast. A split second after he’d stop playing, even with the toy in his mouth, he would squat. I was right there, playing with him. He slept in his crate, so overnight, he did really well. Yeti didn’t have a way to tell us he had to go potty. He finally was potty trained when he was 6 months old. We got him when he was 8 weeks old. Thank goodness our first Samoyed ate our carpeting, so we got wood floors. Ken, thanks so much for responding! It feels good as a viewer, to have the creator respond. As a fellow creator, it’s wonderful to get those comments too. Looking forward to watching more great content from you!

I’m getting a 6-week old puppy on Saturday and I think my mom wants me to shut up...
EDIT: I got a 2-month old puppy and he is now 3-months! He turns 4m on 6/28. We're now trying to get him used to a harness. His timetable is just *wow* here it is:
6:00am-7:30am-wake up
8:00am-goes to my room and scratches on the door until someone answers
9:30-11am- Nap
12pm- wake up and play
3pm-nap
5pm-play
6pm-9:45- ACTIVE
10pm- knocked out sleeping
and the cycle repeats...

Just for future reference 6 wks is way to young. Puppies should be with their mom and litter mates until at least 8 weeks.
Update:
I got a 2 month old puppy on 5/11 and he is now 3 months! Just this morning I caught him ripping up and paper!

We will be bringing our sheltie puppy home July 3rd (counting down the days!) and learning as much as we can beforehand to prepare.
It's a relief to hear that trainer Kim also lives in a condo. We are on the 2nd floor of an apartment building in City Centre, with the nearest patch of secluded grassy area about 2min walk away) and are a bit concerned about potty training without pee pads. It would be really helpful to have a video on the specific topic of potty training big city puppers.

Hello McCann family! I am getting my 8 week old pup in about a month. What do you do if your pup hasn’t had their second round of shots and you live in a dog friendly apartment community where you’re concerned of parvo? I live on the main floor which is convenient for taking pup out but am unsure if I should be taking her out considering the circumstances. I’ve considered a patch of turf that we will carry outside or patch of turf inside (which we are trying to avoid if possible) Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for doing what you do for us all!

Oh that’s always part of the fun! Our own dogs have unique names, but there is an obvious difference. Kayl’s dogs are Funkee Monkee, Grand Slam, Hippy Shake and Bee Line. I know it’s a little late to be commenting (maybe) but, I want to get a border collie and I was searching for info, on how to welcome the puppy properly. We have a dog but she is my sisters, and I want my own, and I just want to make sure she is welcomed in the family in the correct way. When we got my sisters pup, we didn’t have anything like a bed, water bowl, food bowl etc, we where supposed to only look at the pups but ended up taking one home. 😂
