@@slenderMax28it’s not that different from a few stream highlights mashed together, of course depending on the size per game. Last game Fireborn: Oh God! God: Don't bother me until you'll have finished! Also, regarding Infernax - there's so much more to the game apart from a single walkthrough. Quest branching results not only in different rewards but literally in 2 different walkthroughs (especially if going for extreme good or evil). But the most unique part is that the more you play (and the more times you complete the game) the more endings you can unlock. The stupid demon behind the pentagram seal is only a meager gatekeeper to other final bosses you can defeat for true endings (for extra good, bad and in between ones ... and the very-very true one to boot:)). I'm sure it's an extremely time consuming format, but It's such a treat to see games I've never heard of getting the spotlight like this. Ever tried Rabi Ribi? Now that's an intense 10/10 game. Fearmonium is another amazing game. I love this genre, but I didn't know most of these game, so thanks for sharing.
Rabi-Ribi is absolutely amazing for both boss design and world exploration/non-linearity, and it's one of the most replayable games in the genre with the sheer number of difficulty options, the 0% game, the different ways to path to everything, and so on. Game is absolutely packed with content, too. I would maybe knock a point off for the normal enemy designs not being particularly fun to fight, though, especially on higher difficulties. (I personally just rush for Survival and ignore most enemies except to get off 1 HP at this point.)
Great video, I love Iron pineapple's videos and metroidvanias so this is great! If this becomes a series, Yoku's island express is a (pinball) metroidvania I played this year that I feel deserves more love

Besides Islets, definitely recommend checking out Haak and Blasphemous 2, both are great. Infernax is _amazing_ as a two-player game, it honestly makes the single-player play look pretty pedestrian.
Chiaroscuro definitely seems interesting. I would hope that especially that criticism about the particle effects when hitting enemies and the inability to combo them properly is taken into heart. Wishlisting this for sure.
There are so many great games in this genre and with games like Aeterna Noctis, death's gambit and Enders Lilies all getting sequels, who needs to rely on a one hit wonder studio like team cherry, it's a great time to be a metroidvania lover!
Thx for also showing some of the gameplay, i liked watching it a lot, when i saw you playing rusted moss i thought, hey, this seems like a fun game, so im probably gonna play it myself too soon
omg this, so so much! Dandara deserves more love, it's such an amazing game with great mechanics. and momodora is getting a sequel in a couple of days! super excited to play it!
idk if you've played it before, but Blasphemous is one of my all-time favorite games and i'd love to see you experience it! Blasphemous 1 goes on sale for pretty cheap quite often (including right now for the winter steam sale), Blasphemous 2 is a bit more expensive though.
Bloody Hell looks like it's a lot of fun, I'm definitely checking it out now. I've seen quite a few different student projects and this definitely looks like one of the best, the guys that made it are clearly super talented.
Not sure if you already played it, but Unsighted is a criminally underrated Metroid/Zeldalike that some people hated because of a weird mechanic it has which forces you to play kinda fast and not really explore taking your sweet time. That being said, I like how it kept me on my toes during the whole game, and it can be disabled anyway. Also, sapphic robots.
Rusted Moss looks so good, I'm sad that a game that is so clearly up my alley never even got recommended to me through Steam and I even other the other Metroidvania's published by Playism.
Been meaning to buy pseudoregalia since i saw it during a game round up video, added to the wish list and just forgot about it, even seeing it on sale my mind just kind of overlook it. A nice refresher like this video was just what i needed.
Recommendation, try out Tunic, there is no game like it, but If you want to play it, do not spoil your self, or you will lose all these special aaaaaaa! moments ;)
I highly recommend you look at Laika: Aged Through Blood. It manages to present an incredibly dark and tragic story and setting while still managing to be beautiful, and has gone criminally unnoticed.
I just finished 100% it and I absolutely agree, this game's amazing. I have had a handful of crashes, but usually you don't lose any progress because it frequently autosaves. Biggest issues are sometimes it can be hard to complete quests and there's a lot of unmarked things happening on the map... Apparently that was fixed in an update, but sometimes you can still run into unmarked things because the main map markers they added are directly related to quests. One achievement is the aftermath to a quest line and the final location is not marked on the map.
Literally just finished Pseudoregalia as well, it is so good. You actually did some of the same sequesce breaking I did with the dark area, but I managed to find the slide jump first hahah
I loved this Video! It's awesome seeing you playing some lesser-known games, and for me do put a few more games on my wishlist, haha. Played bloody hell and the goat game already, and I'll fosho look at all of them! If you do this again, I want to suggest a BANGER of a metroidvania: GRIME (2021) by Akupara Games. It has some striking parallels to hollow knight (which is why I bought it), but it definitely stands on it's own. It took me about 30 hours to 100% it, so I'm sure a god gamer like you will fly through it lol. It starts off slow like most metroidvanias, but not actually SLOW slow. You immediately have invincible dash, and the starting area has a couple of armor pieces and wholly unique weapons. It has an awesome 2.5D art style and vibe; there's a lot of anatomy horror elements and the story/lore has the right amount of mystery and depth. The combat is super responsive and satisfying, the bosses are all really great, and there's a lot of unique weapons and builds. The combat also centers around you parrying things with your black hole head (oh, yeah, you play as a BLACK HOLE, which is dope), and it's pretty satisfying/forgiving in case parrying isn't your thing. For me, this really elevates the flow of combat along with other abilities you get. The world has a lot of variety, and there's a healthy amount of secrets (as in, whole optional AREAS like kingdom's edge). The platforming can be hit or miss for some people, but I really liked it; it has a certain flow, and there's a couple of unique abilities that I don't see often in other games of the type. And finally, the music absolutely SLAPS. Dark souls-like Orchestral tracks that are really beautiful, and the ambiance is really well done. I loved Hollow Knight, so I picked up this game last year since it seemed similar, but darker and weirder. It also leans more into ACTUALLY being souls-like past the simple stuff, with it having consumables, estus flasks, and stat specs. I'm suggesting it now because it actually gets it's final update - Parting shade/definitive edition - later this month! This'll be the third free DLC it's received before the devs move on to it's sequel (sounds familiar lol), and the devs spent a lot of time to iron out the bugs and add new features like bosses, areas, and NG+, AND they're active in the community. Seriously, you need to play GRIME, or at least check it out before it's update. It’s one of my favorite games I’ve ever played, on par with HK to me. I'd love if it got more attention, and I think it'll really fit you :) (P.S, to anyone else reading this, Check it out too! It's criminally underrated - though admittedly not as underrated as some games here - for the amount of content game has, It's on PC, Xbox, and PS, and it's getting a switch port with the final DLC!)
I got Pseudoregalia for Christmas, and it was easily some of the most fun I've had in a platformer in ages! The combat is definitely very rough around the edges, and there's shockingly few enemies, even for a game under ten hours in length, but the platforming and immaculate vibes make up for it! (Also Sybil looks better with the baggy pants, fight me)
Hyper Light Drifter and Touhou Luna Nights if you're thinking of doing another one of these. "8 metroidvanias you've never heard of before" is a pretty fun twist on Pinapple's soul's series, and arguably overlap quite a bit (since soulslikes and metroidvanias go together like coffee and donuts). looking forward to more of these, and I'll def be checking out Rusted Moss
I actually really enjoyed goo keeper. The devs took my feedback and made some great changes. It does many things very well the further you go in the game. There’s definitely some visual Janine’s but if you can look past it, it’s a really fun time
Another one I'd recommend, Haiku the Robot. Also Lone Fungus is decent. I'm working on one of my own but there is no chance I'm releasing before Silksong.
I deleted my previous post about Rusted Moss, I think I choose poorly the words, and I was being too negative instead of focusing on the good things. First thing first, the game is good, and we can see that it has a lot of effort by devs. Lore, music, game mechanic, pixel art, translations are all well-made. And the game was made only by 3 people, with makes it impressive. But if you're not skilled in keyboard/mouse, and you play Metroidvania for 100% completion, you may want to avoid this one. If you don't play in keyboard but don't mind for total completion or the other way around it's fine, only if the both things hit you than you may consider what I said.
i remember he talked about those in his Rusted Moss playthrough. He praised the artwork, calling it one of the very best in the genre, but called the actual gameplay kinda lackluster for his taste.
You are very positive in your reviews! Thanks! Would love to see Xanthiom Zero on the next installment Not sure if you consider walking puzzle games metroidvanias, but I liked Manifold Garden and its unlocks

Islets is fantastic! Great to see other people play it. :D Thanks for doing a video like this!
I like how I was watching a whole 90min video before getting this one recommended and still found this one before anyone could fully watch it.
A man who has been drawn to do unthinkable activities due to no silksong.
Chiaroscuro if i remember, is that kind of art that only uses different shades of black, gray and white to draw
It's actually using contrasted light and shadow to create the illusion of realism! You're describing achromatic art
@@Chronomel Thanks, it was something I heard years ago and hardly tried to remember
Maybe Silk Song is the friends we made along the way
me who made no friends 💀
@@hornetisspider I feel you mate
@@WHERE_IS_EURYDICE frfr. i'm probably just gonna cope hard if silksong doesn't release this year.
@@hornetisspider There are plenty of other games in the meantime :D
Ever heard of Greak: Memories of Azur?
@@WHERE_IS_EURYDICE yup! played tons of games like Ender Lillies and Rain World when waiting for Silksong. It's funny because it's been 7 years.
I want to add some of my favorite metroidvania, actually two of them.
Dandara: Trials of fear.
Momodora: Reverie under the moonlight
omg this, so so much! Dandara deserves more love, it's such an amazing game with great mechanics.
and momodora is getting a sequel in a couple of days! super excited to play it!
@@sharin_void omg I had no idea momodora was getting a sequel so soon, now I have to add that to the list of games I have to play
Trueeee idk about the second but dandara is really good
@@sharin_voidthe final momo is an easy but pretty send off.
dandara is frustrating to control and jd needlessly complicated
4:10 the grappling hook is funny, it doesn't harm you but rather it saves you the trouble of having to dodge by getting out of your way itself.
idk if you've played it before, but Blasphemous is one of my all-time favorite games and i'd love to see you experience it!
Nice chill video! I enjoyed watching this compilation! (I need to try to catch you over on Twitch live more!!)
Great way to pass the time! Thanks for another great vid :)
The "gruesome" artwork is EXACTLY why I wanna play Infernax! 🤘🤘
0:57 HE HAS SILKSONG! FORWARD CHARGE! SEIZE SILKSONG FROM HIM, DEAD OR ALIVE!
_Very_ impressed by Bloody Hell. That's one hellova student project. Definitely one of the best I've seen.
I second this
When you don't realize he made a video on it 2 months ago
its just that criminally unnoticed!@@glitchgaming1679
Big fan of this style of video. Definitely need to check some of these games out!
Some swearing didn't get bleeped at 58:40 just FYI. Dunno if that's important.
omg i just started watching and saw rusted moss footage, I love that game so much
For recent Metroidvania, I suggest Afterimage. The game is a little unstabble but it is a god game. The ambiance is insane ^^
Congratulations On 400k Subscribers!
PLAY ISLETS!!! I could NOT recommend that gorgeous, magical little game more!! That game (and the tour guide) deserve ALL of your love!
The entire video is fireb0rn playing Metroidvanias and UA-cam puts the video in the Hollow Knight: Silksong category. Incredible
Silksong is the only metroidvania ever, thats why /J
I love when knowing random trivia makes me feel smart, Titania is the queen of the Fae :D
Sci-fi x classic fiction? Count me in!!!
Congrats on the 400k fire!!!
One of the people who worked on Pseudoregalia was also one of the devs for a 2D metroidvania game called Vernal Edge, which is pretty solid.
you uploaded this at the perfect time in my life
Literally just finished Pseudoregalia as well, it is so good.
I'd love if it got more attention, and I think it'll really fit you :)
(P.S, to anyone else reading this, Check it out too!
(Also Sybil looks better with the baggy pants, fight me)
The last faith just came out about a month and a half ago, definitely one worth playing
17:34 this was the funniest censor ever lol
your videos are so good, keep it up !
Rusted Moss is a big reference to Midsummer Night's Dream! Puck and Titania are both fae
I would really like to see fire playing Blasphemous 1 or 2
Congrats on 400K, God Gamer.
Next video gonna be "I played ALL metrodvania in existence while waiting for Silksong"
Damn Bro... your metroidvania choices were smoother than The Rock’s head 😔😔😔
(*BUT RAIN WORLD IS BETTER THAN ALL OF THEM BABYYYY!!!* )
Aeterna Noctis is a MUST play for any Metroidvania fan. One of the best I've ever played. Would love to see you try it out.
Chiaroscuro looks really nice, actually. I might decide to check that out myself.
Tries playing other Metroidvanias, Metroid Dread and… what’s the newest castlevania?: Am I a joke to you?
The second one got me to rethink furry p-
Chiaroscuro gives such rainworld vib3s, so cool
Amazing video! You should try out Aeterna Noctis. One of the more difficult metroidvanias while still feeling really smooth & fair.
try tevi and afterimage. both really good, tevi is my new favorite
Love this formula
I dig that Rusted Moss is Midsummer's night Dream in postapocalypses with grappling hook. It's just neat ❤
Blasphemous 1 and 2 are both incredible. Defiantly recommend if you continue this series!
i remember he talked about those in his Rusted Moss playthrough. He praised the artwork, calling it one of the very best in the genre, but called the actual gameplay kinda lackluster for his taste.
You are very positive in your reviews! Thanks! Would love to see Xanthiom Zero on the next installment
Not sure if you consider walking puzzle games metroidvanias, but I liked Manifold Garden and its unlocks
