Good fair dyno test guys. Have you ever made a pull with out any air cleaner? Open TB, no cover, trunk open, just to see how much loss is really taking place with the stock intake path? Keep up the good work!
Test seems to be very well done. In this particular case, the stock air box and filter seem to have been very well designed as the very small gains fall into the not very significant levels. Bigger gains really show up when forced induction is used. Often the small gains in airflow come at the expense of filtration as has been demonstrated multiple times before.

We actually put a lav microphone into the intake ducts but the audio was not up to our standards 😫When we do other testing I'll try out different locations for the microphone.

I think one thing to keep in mind is that an untuned car is designed to run without being restricted. It was engineered to run within limits of the current setup. The problem comes in when you start tuning and trying to pull more air through that same system. That's when you can start hitting bottlenecks. And it's not just the air filter, but also all the pipes that carry the air. On a tuned BMW X5 35ix that was pushing 400whp (stock is 308hp at the crank), they found that replacing the turbo inlet pipe with one that was slightly larger and had a more straight and smooth flow pattern, they were able to get a roughly 10% increase in horsepower and torque on the dyno.
So you'd need a tuned car. And then you'd realize the gains. But even then, only if all the restrictions/bottlenecks are addressed. The air filter is one of the bottlenecks but may not be the only one.
Thanks for the HONEST test. Some of the claims out there about certain products and the HP gains were laughable!
I'd love to see the same tests with exhausts! And then the BEST exhaust ALSO with an air filter!

Headers are going to be very hard to do due to the costs associated unless we get some MFG's to donate us sets for testing.
You sell a lot of different kinds perhaps when you install you could do a before and after test?

Air filter, modified exhaust next please. The air filter alone wont do anything unless you can get more combustion gases out through the exhaust.

First, thank you for doing these tests. Really helps us new C8 owners. But can you clarify? The video shows the PRO DRY S making more power than the PRO 5R. This is contrary to the description on your store and AFE website. Did the Dry indeed make more during the test or something go wrong during editing?
The description on the website is the manufacturer claims. The video is our independent testing

I purchase the attack blue. How often or at what mileage interval do I need to clean the filter? And is it a 50,000 mile filter?
12,000-15,000 mile service interval, the filter is not capped by mileage and based on service and maintenance in regards to determining the length of its lifetime.
@@ParagonPerformance good to know. But wat if your car is only putting on 2000 miles a year. Do you wait 6 to 8 years for the interval or do you clean it earlier before you reach the interval?

I don't have one yet, but I heard a couple of times, that it's not really the HP increase but rather the throttle response that is enhanced. Any idea if this is true?
How about testing the effectiveness of the air filters? Are they filtering as good as stock? Or is more getting by and into the engine than the stock filter? Alot of oiled air filters are not good for MAF sensors so the AFE dry is looking good so far.
Nice to see small gain in power. However, how do the filters perform keeping out dust and particulates relative to each other?
A comparison including no filter would be interesting (not that I am recommending or even suggesting that anyone should run without a filter!)
We actually did try no air filter, It caused a drop in power!

Just follow GM's recommendation! Inspect every 12,000 miles and change it as needed.
2021+ got an air filter life monitor just in case you were unaware. Unfortunately, the 2020s didn't get one.

Nano vs K&N the only one missing from ALL of the interwebs.
On a true cold air intake, like in the front of a C5 the gain is worth it, like +15whp.
2. Will the Nano last as long as a K&N , as mine in my old C5Z is still cleanable and intact
The K&N Air filter wasn't available at the time we filmed this video. Yes the Attack Blue Nano will last a long time.

Any update on how the full intake testing is coming along? I currently have the AttackBlue filter but sure am getting tempted by those AFE intakes to go along with my headers! Whichever intake wins, I plan to pair that with your sport cats.
We are waiting for Halltech to release their airbox as we had a lot of request to include it.

For the afe dry filter. What is the estimated filter life length w/ how many washes?
Longer than most people own their cars. Personally I'd replace it every 10 washes or 100K miles just for peace of mind but technically that's not needed.
5 hp for attack blue for 139 or 10hp for afe dry CAI for 700 is the extra 5hp work 100/hp prob not

@@jwherron k&n wasn’t out at the time of filming and our cars are far past stock to test now. If we get a stock car in the future that wants an air filter we’ll document our findings.
Afe dry vs Afe oiled. Which has the best filtration?
oiled is going to catch more, however unless you are driving down gravel roads all the time, dry is plenty for the concrete jungle.

K&N finally released their filter and intake for the C8.
