- Its been a busy and dreary January - but I did manage to get out onto Dartmoor for a short afternoon circular walk with Stan. We had a guide on an app on a phone - surely we can't go and get lost?
In this short video, Trev meets Stan for a stroll on the moor, taking in Bowerman's Nose and Kitty Jay's Grave, then they both have a first look at Hayne Down, before plodding on over to Hound Tor to end the day!

Great, a bit of the moor we don't know. Do like the subtitles though, very funny (voice recognition?). Never lost on Dartmoor, more likely, you know where you are, it's just that you aren't where you wanted to be 🤣

On a side note Trev, regarding the Go-Pro, it’s probably the cold zapping the battery.
Haha - Outdoor Active sucks absolute plums for accuracy!!🤣 I never moved away from View Ranger (there is a way to restore it and keep it working) and have been trying Locus Map which is also very good as there is a version that you can just buy and not have to subscribe to; but I resent having to buy all my OS maps again as I already paid for them on View Ranger. Enjoyed the video Trev, a little bimble out can do wonders!
To be fair, I have had no problem with outdoor active, I just took Mt eye off the ball. I've actually been pleasently surprised with how good an app it is, to be honest. Easier to link to my garmin watch too. I almost didn't take the plunge but am glad that I did.

Look forward to some wild camping. I’ve managed 3 camps so far this year, definitely does me good getting up in the hills. You know you’re lost when what you thought you were following was a path turns out to be a mystery sheep trail 😂

done almost EXACTLY the same walk today Trev!! that`s weird , even got lost following that stupid wall and got a couple of photo`s of the odd shaped rock with the cockles on , nice part of the moor though even if you are lost

Ahhh, I was out camping and exploring last week up at Honeybag tor, I wondered in the distance where Bowermans nose was and could see a tall granite long structure. So you've answered my question. There's some fabulous long distant hikes here with a one or 2 day hike which can end up at Widdecombe for pub drinks or meal, via Hameldown or Pudsham down, plus a nice circular hike from Hound tor and back over a clapper bridge not on the map by long pool at Becka Brook going up to the tramway at Holwell tor , over Smallcombe rocks and back down to the other clapper Bridge to the Medieval settlement and back to Houndtor . Great to investigate and also get lost too.

Could you give me some advice please. I'm elderly, even though I do enjoy your videos, so it's about my grand daughter who is 16 and has been invited for a weekend walking in Snowdonia national park by her boyfriend's family. We've bought her walking boots, thermal socks and gloves, waterproofs, fleece leggings and tops etc so will this be adequate for late February?
