First a happy new year to you and all viewers.
When watching this I remembered I had a black version in my box with el-cheapo IEM's and I dug them up.
The original tips weren't on them so after a quick listen I put some small bore tips on them and, indeed, these are great! Neutral.
This tells us again that newer and more expensive ain't always better.
It's very hard to get the sound right with these (relatively) new multi driver IEM's and more often than not a single driver sounds way better.
The more reviews I see about that super expensive IEM's the more I am convinced I should stay far away from it.
Sony made, and still makes, some VERY good and affordable stuff.

Yeah, got a pair of these in today. These are really damned good. Good clarity, good detail, really nice tuning. Pity about the cable, but honestly, aside from being short it's no where near as bad as the cable on the MH1C.

Fascinating that these crappy looking earbuds have such good SQ.

These are strikingly similar to a pair of JAM earphones my sister bought me Kohls a few years go. The same shaped housing (lbeit the JAM ones had an inscribed logo in the plastic), same hole placement and same type of strain relief.... Maybe those housings are OEM? From how you are describing their sound, the JAM ones might even be using the same drivers or one very similar. The subbass is lethal, especially when I had it powered through my v40. it was pretty neutral in the mids and the treble had definite sparkle, badly recorded tracks had definite sibilance but otherwise i never noticed any painful sibilance. The soundstage was very big for an earphone. I also owned the swing ie800, those cheap clones, and they too are amazing.
You can't find them in stores anymore, only online because JAM has moved onto bluetooth stuff it seems. You can find them more easily than the sony's nowadays, it would be interesting to compare them to see if they are indeed the same. They are called the JAM HX-EP010BK. They are exceptionally well tuned for something that costs around 10$. I loved them, until one day recently i stepped on them and the driver fell out.

Curiosity from some reviewers like you led me to buy one last month. Then I realized that it was fake. So, I purchased the Bluetooth set SB24 and it includes this piece. I'm totally agree with you. Physically it's awful but the sound is amazing. From the starting it was unbelievable. But it has cable noise and the cable is too short. The sound from SB24 is decent but not great. So, I had to use AK XB10 that supports AptX. In short, re-cableling is really necessary.
I'm moving to Tokyo in two months. So I was wondering if you know someone who can change the cable.

  • @Pearlyson
    @Pearlyson 2 роки тому

I also got the Sony MH-750 with the SB24 bluetooth set and it's really great. The short cable works out fine for me since I mainly use them for listening in bed in the evening. I'm starting to believe that my ears don't share the same taste as many reviewers since I tend to like cheaper earbuds the best. I have tried many well regarded in-ear in the 50-250 dollar price range and still my favourites are the MH750 and a pair of Sennheiser CX 1.00 with foam tips.
Bad Guy Good Audio Reviews has excellent reviews and taste, though.

I actually have this set, it came with the SBH20 by Sony (good bluetooth receiver, survived 2 and a half years of continuous gym usage, and it still rocks). About a year ago, the cable, because of the material it is made of, caught up A LOT of dirt, and finally I was too disgusted to use them. So I completely remove the cable, and made a promise to myself to replace the cable with something better. Well, I completely forgot it. As far as I remember, the sound wasn't something special, but that's probably because I was using them only through the SBH20, which didn't have very good SQ (that shitty short cable was the reason). So I will put cable that's laying around, and listen to them through the V20. If they turn out as you said, then an mmcx termination is coming.
As far as the termination goes, I would prefer the mmcx one. In over ears, I would consider the 2pin, as the mmcx connectors are a bit suceptible to stress from the sides of the connector. But given the fact that these are gonna be worn cable down, I'd say go with the mmcx. They are way harder to disconnect by themselves.
Also, it's very easy to put a custom termination, especially mmcx because of the nature of the connector. If you don't find anyone close to you, I could do it, just mind that I am quite far from you, so it would take some time for the pair to arrive

I dunno if you can still found ah-d600 in stores, but I bought them after trying shit ton of the big names in store, that "everyone" recommends - AKG, Senheirser, Shure, etc. However i'm no longer in Japan so I can't try IEMs in person - could you recommend similarly sounding IEMs? In my opinion ah-d600 have quite non-studio sound, but still sounds good. I bought KZ-AS10 to try IEMs, but these are too "studio"/analytical, I also bought "BA10" as a gift, and these are even worse. Are any of the "true wireless" headphones good sounding?

Those Sony IEMs are really awesome for free. I've had one for the past 5 years that I use as an occassional beater. So you're wrong on the build quality. Those things aren't built like a tank, but if you don't treat your gear like shit then those things last a long time.
I do believe in burn in for some dynamic drivers. But nowhere near 100 hours. I'll always full blast pink noise for an hour if I don't like what I hear. 95% of the time there's no big difference. But the 5% that there are changes (still very subtle), usually grainy treble can get smoothened out.
