For those who might not understand, when he says "get any form of CA glue", CA is cyanoacrylate, commonly known as superglue in America.
Ah yes thanks for helping me clarifying, we call them superglue too but I have an impression the rest of the world calls them by the chemical name
I think in America most people don't know the technical name, I know because I'm a hobbyist, so I wanted to clarify. Thank you for the videos, they are very helpful. :)
Im going to try this with my kz zs10pro that recently gave up on my left ear. I will not bin them! Thank you very much. New subscriber earned 😁👍
Everyone should turn on captions (English generated) and watch the beginning. It made me smile a bit
That's unfortunate and totally unintended
@@sgaudiohive I understand. I just always catch stuff like this as I usually have subtitles on. Love the videos btw.
@@jakeg615 i tried it lol. the word was removed, but i heard what you meant.
Nice work champ I'm gonna give it go
I like your videos!
Another great video. Amazing work. By the way: can you tell me which is the exact diameter of the cable hole? i want to know if a thinner MMCX conector can fit in there without the drilling process. Thanks!
Nice videos! Getting better each time!
this vid taken when i was down with flu last month lol
tahnk you for the tutorial. I was able to convert mine to mmcx aswell but it was after 2 failed attempts of soldering the left piece xD. Luckily, I was able to dig my old pairs and solder the piece in finesse.
Btw, will it be better to use BluTack instead of epoxy putty?
Nice, little dot of blue tack size of the match head on the back of the driver can make sound cleaner and wires not move inside (or at least not rub the back of the driver)
The blue tack "mod" is the basis of most driver mods, like lawton, grado ( they do that for most of their high end models) , definitely worth the time to try for DIYers!
@@sgaudiohive blu tack is a godsend to audiophile, tons of uses for dirt cheap
You make it look so easy. I usually stumble at the "tinning" stage. Even with the lighter trick and flux, I can't get the wire to take the solder
check out our soldering guide video, there's tinning guide and soldering on pads and wires guide
Use a light to burn off the coating 👍
Does anyone know the outer diameter of the earphone's body? I was thinking of gluing it inside a spent bullet case just for a cool look
Heard from a bunch of DIYers that there's a female mmcx plug available that doesn't need a drill, just inserts into the hole snugly. Will probably be better to get that type instead.
Yes there is, the long and slim screw type female mmcx, easier to Install but harder to fix it in place as there is no space to install the nut inside, hot glue works too
can u this to a tuned by akg in ear?
or
this tutorial
works with AKGs ones?
Can you mod the 1more quad driver or triple driver earbuds?
It should be a similar process.
What epoxy putty is that? Also what temp did you use on your iron for this? And would the wires need to be isolated from each other with heat shrink or something like that?
Hi there, any standard epoxy putty will do, even hot glue can do the job.
For the iron setting, mines set to 320deg c usually so we can work faster but it will burn thru the tip faster. Also need to check what solder u use.
The wires do not need to be isolated as they are coated with insulation already
sgaudiohive thanks for replying, what type of solder should I be using?
Oh man, I would like to have my MH755 modded so much, but I don't have all this necessary stuff and can't solder :(
Hi master, the driver top there left side got a hole right? But i got a MH755 with on top middle hole. Is that a legit earphone? Hope you can answer my question ASAP.
Legit. Centre hole most likely from Sony direct
I have 1 more triple driver. But i don't know how to mod it.
What is the epoxy resin putty? Is it necessary & is there any substitutes?
U can use any epoxy putty, or hot glue even
sgaudiohive Thank you!
Any chance you sell this online?
My MH755 has black filters and they say it’s fake and I see yours has black filters as well. You think they’re fake?
I have two pairs of authentic MH755 that (I bought new) came with sony mh24 and they both have a black filter. I found the following article about fake mh755 and it doesn't say black filter means fake. journeymantoolbox.pt/2019/01/29/how-to-spot-a-fake-sony-mh750-755/
Is there advantage in using mmcx over a much better-than-stock cable directly soldered to the driver? Planning to buy one but I think it's too cheap to be making this much effort.
The ability to change the cable easily, most notably if you want to switch it between a Bluetooth cable and a normal one. If you don't care about that, direct connection may be the better option on these, since you'll probably be spending more on the MMCX jacks than you did on the earbuds to begin with.
@@joemck85 yeah, i agree but i'd rather do it to a much better earphones. Not with mh755. Not downplaying the 755 but it's so cheap you can buy 3, upgrade the cables and not worry about having to change it.
@@ironjohn03 It really just comes down to ease of changing the cable / moving the nice cable to another earphone. For some designs where the cable goes up over your ear, MMCX can also provide a swivel point to make it easier to put it into your ear comfortably.
any MMCX bluetooth you may suggest?
@@agoogleuser9025 I have the Fiio UTWS1 which I use with TIN T2's. There is a noticeable hiss when no music is playing. Might be annoying to you if you listen to podcasts or audiobooks. I don't notice it at all when music is playing. Overall, I'm happy with them. No idea on longevity as I haven't had them long enough, but as it stands right now I'd buy another set if I lost them.
can i made a request mod a razer hammerhead v2 earphone into mmcx
God
The link for The female mmcx connector is not the same you used on the video ,will it work fine?
They are the same, there are options to choose from
Where did you purchase your MMCX connectors from?
Check the video description...
How about 2-pin instead of MMCX? Can they physically fit?
With a dremel or a small needle file, the exit hole can be made into any size or shape
@@sgaudiohive I see! So it would be harder to shape the exit for the female 2-pin? Maybe I'll just recable them instead of MMCX.
it's the same procedure for dunu 2000?
I will post d2000j video soon. Its not all that similar as it's an advanced mod
sgaudiohive amaizing, I will be pending!
the exposed copper wires won't cause interference between themselves?
The wires then self are not exposed, much like the wires in every earpiece
Do you sell any Sony Mh750 or MH755 with 2.5mm Balanced Cable?
Does the sound quality change when wires are changed?
No any wire doesn't affect sound quality on any earphones the only thing that can change is resistance so i can get louder or a little quiet depending on the cable and the power of your souce
How many watts is your soldering iron sir?
Max 500, for driver works best to use 25-45 watts
@@sgaudiohive thanks. I ordered a 30w online. Thank you very much.
Hi ,Can it mod 2 pin (0.78)
Actually same steps but using 2pin female adaptors
since im bad at soldering can i use wire glue instead?
I will do a soldering tips video this weekend, if you have experience in wire glue you can give a try, this mod is reversible
@@sgaudiohive since wire glue are less conductive. will it change the sound? xd
Audio wire glues are widely used in HI FI and other forms of audio works, the work as good as solders in terms of conductivity but are less durable
I earbuds Apollo mmcx good
Can you please make one for me?
Hello, where is the original of these headphones buy?
I see people recommend Kanoya on ebay, might be worth having a look at
@@abyss1800 but wont the shipping fee be more expensive?
@@agoogleuser9025 international shipping is only $4, there may be other legit sellers that could have free shipping but I've just seen this seller been recommended quite a number of times on what I've found on reddit, UA-cam, etc. And he looks fairly legit as far as I can tell. There are a lot of counterfeit sellers so I'd personally just pay a couple more dollars for shipping as they are pretty cheap anyways
Do you have any Sony MH755 MMCX for sale? Scottnad
