left out frost saying pixy's line, "you fired up? come shoot me down."
Well, when i was fighting the frost (also known as "druid") for my first time playing this game, i was using F-15, and when she was saying that phrase, i was laughing so hard, that i just crashed into the ground, because i was already laughing away from computer (as i remember, i was on the floor when that happened).
The radio monologue over Sawaikii had me in stitches for another reason; when he followed up with "That's two bucks a word" I had to pause the game I was laughing so hard, because that's a typical fee for recording professional voice over for a commercially-sold product.
(I'm a VO director for an indie studio, so this joke might have gone over most people's heads)
That's how much Galaxy's voice actor should have asked for reading the entirety of Wikipedia's page on CBT, 50 bucks for that glory is a steal (in case you haven't heard it, here you go, it's unlisted so it's kinda hard to find: www youtube com/watch?v=C2VVuOS46wE)

"There is hole in your right wing"
I'm pretty sure there are tons of war thunder references thrown there to.
Damn there's a hole in my wing
(Ace04)
Might also be in reference to Solo Wing Pixy, at least partly.
Not Sure which one came out first though
@@Perrobero ac4 before wt
seems like a stretch, having holes in wings is common in getting hit during war
Does Crimson's "How does it feel, to have no borders to define yourself against?" count as reference to Pixy's "What has borders gien us?"
I think his use of cordium bombs is kinda a reference to Torres because of his 10 million lives rant
_That's what __-V2-__ this __-Nuclear Shell-__ Cordium Bomb is for_
Definitely a nod, though it's interesting that his philosophy is essentially the exact opposite to Pixy's

Wow, that Rhodesian radio reference was totally unexpected. First time I've ever heard of it. Pretty cool!
You'll find an awful lot of fans running around the internet. Rhodesia is a particularly _complicated_ piece of African history in an era where things are already hard to grasp (long story short, the colonial powers were leaving, but the attitudes they left behind or instilled didn't). It's said that Rhodesians never die.
Dude, are u the guy from twitter?
Green leader (The pilot that did that speech) Would be proud.
We’ll keep them north of the Zambezi.
"What a time it was!"
The achievements also have a few references to them, for example the one for clearing Mission 11 is "Ice Oldman", a clear reference to the AC2 track "Fire Youngman".
I honestly thought it's a jab on Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker's "Hot Coldman".
Its like "the opposite of Microsoft is Macrohard"
@@lukaimedashvili270 I thought it's Macrosoft, what with Red Alert 2+Yuri's Revenge.
That, and probably a more obscure reference to Iceman from Top Gun. But that's an easy reference to make, and yours is more likely due to it being in franchise and being an opposite.
@@thefiresworddragon927 I see what you mean.
Nobody else notice that sometimes in background chatter you can hear “DIE YOU S.O.B!!!”? A direct reference to ace combat 4 that also had a guy doing that randomly? he even says it the same way in this game lol
Ace Combat 04 is rated E for Everyone. *ding*
Also you get "ACS FAILURE" sometimes which is probably a reference to AC04's "Radio Failure!"
Yes I hear it all the time and it makes me grin every single time I hear it lol.
You can hear it rarely in arcade mode in AC5... That's how AC4 af it is. Lol
“Whoooeee”
1:04: What do you mean, "aircraft type unknown"? They're MiG-29s, clear as day!

@@devintariel3769 I thought they're F-5 Tigers?
When Kaiser says "Do not count miles, do not count days, count only the number of Feds you have killed!", it's actually a reference to a speech yelled out by a Commissar in Call of Duty: Finest Hour's intro. Also, an allied forces pilot could be heard saying "ACM Failure!!!" in the same way a pilot in AC04 could be heard yelling out "RADIO FAILURE!"
Don't forget, "DIE YOU S.O.B"
There's also line from Assault Horizon
"Further resistance will result in your death..."
The captain of the Eminent Domain says that during the Red Sea mission right?

I slipped an easter egg in as a backer. I asked for a ace to be named 'Ixiom', named after the Air Ixiom passenger airline in Ace Combat 04 and 5. :3
This is in Uphill, Every Way.

Crimson 1: Have you find a reason to fight yet... Merc?
Man, i surprised that you didn't include the
TF-01 R. ASTLEY, or Rick Astley, in Mission 13.
The first one, as a Joint Assault fan, thank you, it enlighten my heart, looks like i need to hope again. (cause this game was my first ACE COMBAT.)
No, that was actually a backers name "Robert Astley".
>The first one, as a Joint Assault fan, thank you, it enlighten my heart, looks like i need to hope again
_"In the zone

Even in the air, we can't escape the Rick Rolls
So Rick Astley survived the Calamity
yesss, ja is amazing
In mission 10, Kaiser says, "Cut the chatter!" Which I thought is a pretty clever allusion to AWACS Thunderhead from AC5
Its a bit of a reach tbh. "Cut the Chatter" isnt exactly a unique catchphrase in a military context.
"15 years ago, there was a war"
Talk about being brought back into my childhood
The quote "do not count days, do not count miles, count only the number of feds you killed" is the quote from COD finest hour
I realized that at the final mission, a federation aircraft carrier is leaving port and you have to take it out. The name of the carrier is Werewolf. In Roman it translates to " Varcolac", a direct competitor to the Antares carrier.
I thought that Mission 13 Dip reluctantly radioing the enemy is a reference to Chopper in Shorebirds.
I think its a little bit of both.

@@CallsignYukiMizuki Robert Astley was the backer i suppose.
When I first heard Dip’s message to the Sawaiiki military I was immediately reminded of Green Leader’s message to the Zambians. I’m honestly surprised they took inspiration from it given how controversial Rhodesia is.
It fits in surprisingly well tho
*_[loads FAL with Rhodesian intent]_*
The devs are based for slapping a Rhodesia reference in. Makes me love PW even more knowing that.
You can reference something without supporting the origins.
It sounds more like he just used that message as an example of an realistic/accurate message for that situation, probably doesn’t have anything to do with the actual events
The yacht appearing in the Kawaiiki mission is also a reference to The Final Countdown, where a yacht gets strafed by Zeroes
The anime intro is seem like homage to Area 88 anime, especially for the opening song. IMO
It feels more like Gundam, or even Macross, since the PW-1 looks like it came from Macross
"You'll be in a world of hurt" I knew that was from AC6 when I heard it in game
I must admit, Project Wingman is a love letter to fans of Ace Combat 04, 5, Zero, 6, and even Joint Assault.

@@borisglevrk i also ever read or heared in their kickstarter and facebook page that the leader developer of this game a.k.a Abi Rahmani are a big fan of Ace Combat series

Rowsdower AFB was a reference to an episode of MST3K, "The Final Sacrifice." I think it's still free to watch on UA-cam. Really makes you wonder if there's beer on the sun.

Left out in the Anime intro Easter Egg is another Easter egg from AC0
“Where are the reinforcements!?” is what a pilot will say when Cipher and Pixy enter the round table
Mission 10
I remember there's another easter egg that totally resemblance (or i should said ripping off) the pixy's quote from Frost i forgot in which chapter but in that chapter she said
Frost >
Well lets be honest, the entire final battle is a rip on the battle with Pixy. They both reverence Kings ffs haha.
@@Krystalmyth same skin for sure but different point, zero final battle is about a human life bet, while kings final battle is about surviving in a nutsheel kings is like alternate representation to what happened if pixy has completely successful while launch the v2
Forgot that the mercenary in mission 11 is quoted saying “let’s show these mercs what the cascadian Air Force and do!”
Which may be reference to AC0 during the mission “mayhem” when a pilot says “galm team isnt the only ones here, let’s show them what the osean Air Force can do!”
Also, I think there's a line, probably in the Sea of Scar engagement, where an enemy ship is called to surrender.
The line was very similar to AC:AH's naval attack mission. "Strike your colors or you will be destroyed" or something.
Sea of Scar
Sea of Chaos
It's about AC05
F for the Pitomnik
prez's cut dialog is also a reference to a video of a air force instructor going ape shit on a trainee yelling at him to shoot down the target
IFFDB3. It's on UA-cam
I know it’s not technically a reference, but whenever I fight the full crimson team (8 enemies, 2 different aircraft groups, just like ofnir and grabacr on the SOLG mission)
I hear “a double Belkan formation! Ofnir and grabacr!” Followed by Grimm’s “Eight tough enemies! My heart’s racing! My whole body’s shaking!” Quote
It really bums me that there’s no carrier take off sections in this game
Yeah, especially since there was a WIP of one posted to the devs Twitter quite a while ago
they'll keep adding more stuff over time, and mod tools might also come out so the fans will make their own content
@@DGP406
Might as well make there own game
I do like that cool industrial rig you take off from late in the game tho. Wish they had used it more. It really gave me AC5 vibes.
@@StellarGryphon Perhaps cut content, maybe change of story?
I think the Mission 11 intro is a reference specifically to Mobile Suit Gundam
I can see it.
TBF a lot of old ass shows from that era do look similar
Something I found in the comment section of Consequence of Power
The auth. code for launch of Cordium-tipped cruise missiles, is 0816.
08 is the number of Chopper's plane
16 is the number of Blaze's plane (Blaze was also the final command for launching the Cordium-tipped cruise missiles)
They both were members of the Wardog Squadron
"Yo buddy... You still alive ?"
In the last mission assassin 1 quotes the Russian dude from call of duty finest hour "do not count days, do not count miles, count only the number of feds you have killed" "not one step back"
URAAA
It's actually a real life quote by Ilya Ehrenburg, which Call of Duty also used.
What about the borders part on final mission
I think it didn't included in this compilation because i guess every aces are known thats the references to the infamous pixy's
Edit : i'm afraid pixy wouldn't like this lol
That's what V2 is for.
You f$&king would, Pixy. (lol)
On the other hand, a certain ace made Pixy dogfight Crimson 1 with that line included.

I got "leakers, aircraft type unknown" and "you'll be in for a world of hurt", but a lot of these went over my head. Good video ACF.
That bee reference was so obvious and stupid, i loved it.
You missed 2 more easter eggs in Valkyrie's call.
#1. One of the docked airships is named the R. Astley which is a reference to Rick Astley the singer of Never Gonna Give You Up
#2 The Yacht outside the Harbour is a Reference to the movie The Final Countdown where an American Aircraft Carrier from the 1980s gets thrown back in time to 1941 and one of it's Tomcats saves a Yacht from a Zero fighter
RB's explanation for the yacht is because the voice actor improvised that line and playtesters all commented that there was no actual yacht, so he added a yacht.
@@carsonm7292 Which makes for one hell of a nice mission in my opinion, first the whole speach and then the yacht

Other Countries: Ah Shit, Here Go Again...
15 years ago there was a war, a war that engulfed the world
The Bel - ah shit imma out they would nuked me by a 7 nuclear bomb if i remind them lol
Almost 15 years ago, "The Belkan War" game title actually released...
In the mission to retake Presidia, Kaiser's little intro speech is a reference to Call of Duty: Finest Hour's opening scene where a commissar is giving a speech to Russian conscripts crossing the river into Stalingrad.
Project Wingman takes much inspiration from Ace Combat
"Do not count days, do not count miles, count only the number of feds you have killed!" I was not expecting a reference to Cod: Finest Hour in this game. Cheeky lads
Wasn't there a yacht in Swaiiki that was referenced to The Final Countdown? Damn, man. That was a missed opportunity
One from call of duty final front ,opening
Do not count days do not count miles
But i forgot what mission in pw
Its the liberation of presidia, and its from CoD Finest Hour.
@@stevemc6010 oh you righ,im sorry
More like it's a real order but yeah, I learned it from COD too.
There's a radio chatter that says, "Die you SOB!". I think that's a reference to one of many AC04 NPC lines. I remember it clearly because when I first heard it it wasn't long after I finished AC04
In mission 7 theres a reference to Ace Combat assault horizont. In some point of the battle, one of the federation captains reads almost the same script for the last part of the mission on open seas to the russian battlesship. It was something like "further resistance will result in your death, cease fire inmediatly or you will be destroyed"
I think you missed he says “alright ramblers let’s get rambling” from reservoir dogs
Missed the "any and all targets" reference to Sky Eye's dialogue in "Invincible Fleet."
"Where are the reinforcements" is also pretty clearly a reference to the intro cutscene of "Mayhem" in ACZ.
I'm sorry but all of cold war was just one massive nostalgia trip for mayhem. It's a shame we'll probably never see mayhem with modern visuals but cold war still does good
You forgot that all throughout the game you can hear the enemy say "Who was it that shot me?!" which is a reference to AC04 when in the mission Shattered Skies you hit a Yellow Squadron member, this is what one of them says right before they leave the airspace.
Admit it, the first one was the best one
Not the bees!
NOT DA BEEZ
AAARRRRGHHHHTTT THEY ARE ON MY EYEZ MY EEEEEYYZZZ

"there's a hole in my wing" to the "there's snake in my boot". even if its not a refence i can't unhear it
4:03 Fifteen years ago. *ding*
Isn't "world of hurt" just a common phrase? I mean it could still be a reference I guess.
1. Wait, the Sawaiiki actually replies?
2. There's a friendly tagged COAL in the end of Mission 11 Cold War. He is the only friendly with a name but is never mentioned in any lore or dialogue, what gives?
The enemies are bad, so you give them Coal
@@parjai97 I agree.
It's either a winter joke where you need to stock coal, or bad kids will be given coal by Santa Claus/Krampus.
I'd argue some of these aren't really references and are more so coincidences (IE, "world of hurt" is a pretty common phrase), but there's still some gems in here.
When I heard the green leader speech I was hyped and started looking for more stuff.
Im just sad that theres no crisp white sheets refrences
The achievement for completing the 2nd mission on xbox is called "No borders"
"There are enemy aircraft providing ESM. You'll be in a world of hurt if you let them go" - Ghost Eye
For some reason... i kind of love more the radio chatter on PW than in most of the AC games... well, AC Zero been an exception for me, they feel like normal people, and not anime characters xD
Mission 19 “DO YOU WANT TO LIVE FOREVER?” Was a famous unites states marine quote
Galaxy says the line "Alright ramblers, let's get rambling." which is a reference to Joe from Reservoir Dogs.
i love all of this
The ending is also a reference to that one spongebob episode with the butterfly. Specifically, the "We saved the city"-line, only this time it´s more like
"We did it, Monarch! We liberated the Cascadian Republic!" *Building collapses in the background*
The entire goddamn Prospero Mission is a reference to the 40K Burning of Prospero.
In PW Mission 11, "Cold War", there's a radio line where they nearly quote Ace Combat Zero, Mission 10, "Mayhem". In PW, it's, "Let's show those mercs what the Cascadian Air Force can do!" In ACZ, it's, "Galm's not fighting alone. Let's show 'em what the Osean Air Force can do!"
Also what our allies say before you engage is very similar or the same.
AC0: "Dammit there's too many of them, we can't handle them all."
PW: "My IFF is overloaded! There is too many bogeys in the sky!"" We are getting torn up out here!"
Both: "Where are the reinforcements!"
What a cool game.
I enjoyed project wingman, i was wating for something like this since the times of Ace Combat 6 on xbox.
The Rhodesian Bush War one was a very nice catch.
There's a ton of funnies jammed into the radio chatters as well, aside from the WarThunder reference, there's another one about "Ramblers, let's get rambling" line from Payday2
I think the Merc title for mission 11 is a reference to the Mobile Suit Gundam (1979) title card to be somewhat specific.
Consequence of Power is one big reference to the Burning of Prospero from Warhammer 40k, where the world of Prospero is destroyed by an army which was supposed to be their ally.
I expected the Diplomat's message to be a reference to Ace Combat 5 in either mission 1 or 2 when Chopper calls over the radio.
Ace Combat Fans know what Ace combat Fans want
There's a line from Galaxy, I forgot what mission it is, but the quote is, "All right ramblers, let's get rambling" which is, I believe, a reference to Bain from the Payday series
In the Sawaiiki mission,, there's a pair of small airships next to a wharf off to the right.
One of them is called the "R. ASTLEY".
This game is full of more references than just these. Anyone who has played the old Airforce Delta on Dreamcast would probably notice the similarities between Alpha Base and elements of the mission map in Mission 9 (Stepping stone; look for the first airbase built into the mountainside). It's not an exact match (missing the large interior part), but I'm pretty sure it's a reference.
Context for those unfamiliar that I found elsewhere on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/video/Pb90sfoGG2U/v-deo.html
Seeing Antares makes me want to play Ace Combat X2 again
War
War Never Changes
WAR...HAS CHANGED!!!
So this aircraft carrier is an actual reference?
An aircraft carrier in a lake??? Damn that's something.
Tell me about it...
Only because Olaf took the -bote- battleship first...
finally somebody mentions the reference to the Green Leader Raid radio speech in mission 13!
In mission 13, mere the start, there’s a yacht that you can shoot at and not fail the mission. I believe that is in reference to the movie, The Final Countdown.
The non-subtitled dialogue is the best lol
There's so so many more. Kaiser's opening speech in Presidia "Not One Step Back!" is a reference to Stalin's Order No.227 during WW2, also found in HOI4 and Call of Duty: Finest Hour.
