SHOULD MAKE MORE TIPS FOR THE 6 HP BEAAAAAST🔝
See I took the rod out that the governor bracket connects to. Ground the rod the gear went on flush. Only thing I forgot is the rod that went through the case. Gotta tap and plug it.
I have this engine on a go kart and replaced the carburetor and worked but the governor seems to stick and makes the engine run near full throttle(w/o throttle cable connected). When I adjust the carb idle down it will decrease slightly and go dead or throttle up high again and stick most of the time.
Will removing the governor and adding the spring correct this?
I thought the governor was required.
It sounds like you may just have a spring issue. There is a factory spring that helps the throttle return to idle. Make sure that is still connected or connected to the correct spot. A governor is not required, it just limits how high an engine can rev. Removing the governor wouldn’t fix the issue because your problem is the linkages/spring not letting the throttle return. I’d also check your throttle cable. Sometimes they can corrode and stick causing the spring to not be strong enough to return the engine to idle.
Where did you get the gas tank??
It came on the bike. It’s the factory gas tank that comes on a manco thunderbird
Where can i buy the carburador For an ohh65? Cant find it
I got one off of Amazon for like $12. Just have to make sure the barb for the fuel line is the style you need. They have one with a straight barb and one with a 90 degree barb.
Would it be the same process for the 5.0 hp model?
Sorry I’m not sure
Yes it is the same procedure if it is OHV. If it is the older flathead engines, it is a little different but more or less the same
That exhaust sounds awesome! I have this same exact engine where do I get the exhaust?
I made it myself. They sell 1 inch exhaust kits on eBay and Amazon with a couple different pieces and bends for around $35.
@@jwsbackyard6413 thanks! how do I install the performance filter on the carb ?
You need an adapter like this www.bmikarts.com/Air-Filter-Adapter_p_463.html?amp=1
Would it not cause engine to overheat?
No. In normal riding conditions this wouldn’t cause overheating
I have the same bike do you have to order that spring that mikes the engine not run wide open, and if you do can you give me the link of where you got it. Thanks!
I just used a plain old spring that I got in a variety pack of springs at harbor freight.
@@jwsbackyard6413 what’s the top speed before the governor and then after the removal?
@@tvm_2346 honestly I don’t know but if I had to guess I probably picked up at least and extra 10mph
@@jwsbackyard6413 do you have any social media or anything where you could help me a little with putting the spring on I really need help
I have Facebook, if you want to add a link I can add you. What are you having trouble with?
Is the the same for the 3.5 hp because I have the same engine but it’s the 3.5
Honestly I’m not sure. This is the only tecumseh I’ve worked with.
Where can i get a seal like yours?😅
It’s just ultra black or gray rtv from any auto parts store, Walmart, tractor supply, etc.
What about rod an flywheel tho
It has a stock rod and flywheel and has held up for years now.
Did you have to change the flywheel?
No it’s held up fine so far
