    ENGINE WOULDNT START
    I removed the govenor on my sons predator 224 and the internal low oil sensor and when i got done the engine wouldnt start and i was freaking out because it was my first time !! i ended up finding out its because when i pulled the cam the valve tappets came down a little so i pushed them back up not thinking much of it and later found out that can let the connceting rods fall out of place , so i took the valve cover off and sure enough they came off the rockers so i took it apart and put it back together and ahe fired right up hope this helps anyone who makes the same rookie mistake , i found 1 comment in 15 videos that led me to the problem so i figure i will repost same info!!

    For those times when the gasket sticks, get a thin metal paint scraper and ensure it’s sharp, it will allow you to slowly work the gasket off. Also remove the flywheel and use a punch to punch the gov wheel out. Best way hands down

    Whoever is trying to remove governor, the arm needs to come out and be replaced with a threaded bolt. Remove the oil sensor. Definitely need some 18 pound springs and a heavy duty flywheel to be safe

    Everyone uses this brute force method. Use a punch and drive the governor gear shaft out from the other side. Everything comes out as one unit. Them remove clip, gear and spacers from shaft. Drive the shat back into the hole. Much easier and parts don't end up where you can't find them.

      Zip tie the governor spring so it is like a solid linkage. Or just remove the linkage all together and relocate the return spring as he did in the vid. Did that to mine and it runs great. Just don’t have full throttle for long periods to be safe.

My mini bike has 14 inch tires if that helps... just picked up a predator 212 today from harbor freight and not sure if I should remove gov before running it(so it doesn't leak as bad) or if It's worth just running stock(I REALLY don't want to break it!). I want to go around 40-45 mph and don't know if that requires gov removal...

      You can do a gov delete and you can get it to 5500 rpm with the stock valve springs and nothing will break because the stock valve springs will float at 5500 rpm. If you get heavier valve springs, then you would have to upgrade to a bilet connecting rod because the stock rod can't handle the rpm that the gov delete and the heavier valve springs create

  • @asphaltcowboy7868
    @asphaltcowboy7868 3 роки тому +2

    I have a fully built 212.. after blowing up a stage 1 kit with governor delete..thank God I wasn't injured.. let's just say, if you don't fully build up these little engines, they will blow..and can cause serious injury! The governor is put in place my the manufacturer for a reason, and it's not because of strictly emissions..it's mostly because the engine can't hold up to the temperatures it will endeavour.. the connecting rods are built to contain up to 4,800 rpms before it starts to heat up too much, breaking the connecting collar that holds the end of the connecting rod to the crank shaft.. causing it to sling off at a high rpm and be thrown though the top of the engine block.. deleting the governor, just isn't worth blowing the engine for just a little bit of fun...

    • @kartingkid714
      @kartingkid714  3 роки тому +1

      Id say its worth the risk. Valve float keeps the flywheel, which is the main danger to the rider, below critical RPM and ive never had a predator blow unless i was riding top rpm constantly. However, anything beyond a stage 1 kit (not including valve springs) is sketchy without beefed up internals

    • @kartingkid714
      @kartingkid714  3 роки тому

      Going fast without the governor is typically fine as the valve springs prevent most cases of overreving but if its only topping out at 33 than switch the rear sprocket to a smaller size. Torque will be decreased but youll have a much higher top end

    • @trevinskiking2165
      @trevinskiking2165 3 роки тому

      Jon - as he says the stock Valvespring pressure will be an automated valve bounce rev limiter but there is the risk of a valve kissing the piston top ( Crown) but if you go ahead & fit some 18# Lbs Valvesprings & an aftermarket alloy flywheel then you'll have some measure of reliability at higher revs but then there's that std Conrod you need to think about, that's why they make Billet alloy ones.Id keep a safe rev limit of not much More than design overspeed of 6,000rpms.roughly Trev NZ as the old saying goes: how fast do you want to spend.!

      @@kartingkid714 I mean I liked your video I was jus confused and worried about the governor arm messing up something internal. But if you’re engine is still operating fine I think I will do it and let you know how it turned out.

      @@pattrevon6753 yea ive done it on several motors, just spin the motor over while moving the throttle around to make sure its not gonna contact anything

    If you don't hold down the throttle, you won't go fast. Save some money and buy a kit to do it right. You do want reliability 😮.

    You did all of that for nothing you literally could just do the thing with the spring without tearing the motor apart and it would do the same thing so there is 2 ways for it to be done tearing it apart taking out the governor and the arm and the other way is the quick way but but gotta have the right tention on the governor also while it was apart you could have taken out the oil sensor and put a bolt with washers in you just said fk it ill do half and half lmao but people dont wake up and know how to do it gotta research and play around and tinker A for edfort
