- Whatever the myths you may have heard about the short game’s overriding importance over all other aspects of golf increased driver distance is critical to improving your scores.
In short without getting more distance off the tee there will be a ceiling to how much you can improve.

Your graphic at 3:33 on the ball striking position on the clubface versus handicap confirms what I have long believed. It's not that more distance lowers handicap; it's that better ball striking both lowers handicap and increases driving distance.
Strike for sure is a huge factor when it comes to hitting the ball further whatever your swingspeed. Key then clearly is to match increased swingspeed with great strikes which is where it gets harder for sure. Unfortunately though if you have a low swingspeed there is going to be a max distance you’ll hit the ball which will limit your scoring potential given the clear correlation between distance and handicap.
Good advice, well presented. One item left out. Increased smash factor from better ball compression due to impact while the club head is accelerating. ie maximum club head speed occurs AFTER impact. (An accelerating club face advances faster than the ball can elastically recoil from it.) As Moe Norman famously opined: : "Make the club "sing" AFTER the ball and not before. (Referring to when the "whoosh" sound occurs during the swing.)
Excellent vlog. Thanks - will test tee height and see what happens.
Many thanks. Is much appreciated and good luck with the tee height experiment 👍

You’re right! Apologies and thanks for spotting 👍
