Hey there! I'm so excited to see that one of my favourite UA-camrs visited my home country! I hope you had an amazing time exploring all the beautiful sights, trying some delicious food, and soaking up the warm Portuguese culture. As someone who grew up there, it's always special to see others appreciate the beauty of my country. Lots of love, Ana.
I've been trying to build up the courage but never get past watching others on you tube for inspiration. One day we may surprise ourselves...for now Catherine can take the lead for me
Almost all of my friends speak Portuguese and are from Portugal. The Azores and the Continent. I live in an area with a very high concentration of Portuguese Americans. It was fun to see some of the places I have heard about. I am supposed to go with my bestie in the next year or so as her mother still lives there. She is from the continent. I am definitely not fluent in Portuguese but I can speak enough to get get by and read a menu etc.. They make the most amazing food! I love how you have traveled the world solo. It’s inspiring. Once I am done paying for my son’s college I cannot wait to do the same. In the meantime I will live through you.❤️❤️
Hi Catherine! As someone else commented, those pink flowers are Bougainvillea. So pretty - especially the deep pink or purple colored ones. They even come in orange! I wonder if they could be grown in Ireland? Thanks for another fun ramble! Johanna
The pink flowering plant on your balcony is a Bougainvillea. Lovely to look at but a bugger in the garden as they grow feral and have wicked thorns. There are other smaller versions available.

Madeira is such a pretty place to visit, I called in there many years ago on a cruise ship. We didn't have much time to explore apart from wandering around Funchal. I remember the embroidery and Madeira wine being a feature of our visit.
What a wonderful getaway destination. I loved it all! I favor the oriental style gardens. They seem to be so relaxing and bring such calming tranquility to my soul. No matter if its in person or through you on UA-cam. 😂. Thanks for bringing us along & sharing Catherine. I hope you had your SPA time, makes me so envious! Your solo travels as a young, beautiful you lady radiates bravery & independence on a whole different level.

Catherine I thoroughly enjoyed your trip to Madeira , was on my bucket list, but anxiety will not allow me to travel on my own - so everything you did, including the embroidery shop, are all the things I love and would of done had I the courage! ❤️

Lovely to revisit Catherine. I’ve been to Madeira twice and experienced lots that it has to offer. The toboggan ride was amazing although a little scary, it truly is something not to miss. The gardens are beautiful, lace/embroidery shops and Madeira wine tours. ❤
Catherine this was the most beautiful short trip for you. The ocean views spectacular, the gardens lovely. The blue and white told wall on your walk was so interesting . The tropical garden peaceful and the sound of water restful. You are a brave girl to ride in the cable car! Gorgeous flowers. Loved the painted doors . You looked so beautiful on your walks. Love Madeira- we were lucky to spend 2 weeks there with car hire and drove and walked everywhere- beautiful island. It inspired me to have plenty of Alliums and Agapanthus in my garden that we saw in the mountains x

A friend is visiting Spain and Portugal in May and June, then on to Ireland and Iceland. Thank you for the lovely travelogue. The flowers are lovely.
