My favorite thing about this is how seamlessly you go into answering the bin collection question. I appreciate that you treat municipal sanitation questions with the same level of consideration and gravitas you do music and sartorial inquiries.
Kinda off topic from your video, but I saw you guys perform last night. I've been waiting 18 years to see the band. I've been a fan since you guys first came out. Sometimes words are hard to describe how one truly feels, and it's like The Darkness is a part of me in a way. You guys rocked the shit out of that venue. Mind blown. Sorry for yelling fuck you at you I was drunk. I love you Justin. Not like love love you but I really appreciate you.
Frankie Peters here, sitting in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, US. Long time musician first time listener. Love the show! You are really down to earth, a great musician, and a very entertaining host! Keep it up! Love The Darkness!
Just prior to opening the tab which contained this video, I candidly sang to myself ♫ _"Juuuustin Hawkins riides a-gaaiiiiine..."_ ♬ And for a moment after the video started I was quite proud of myself for managing to match the pitch of the intro tune perfectly, by memory alone. But that quickly gave way to the realization that it could be the case that I've watched a bit too much Justin Hawkins for my own good.. 🤔
@nerdofdeath a tax write-off? 🧐 I think maybe you don't know very much about how all that kinda stuff works, but, whatever. Anyway, you seem a bit bent, mate. Why don't you tell me what's really bothering you..
@nerdofdeath right... tax time is upon us. It can be stressful for many people, for many reasons. Do you owe a lot of money this year? Is that what's bothering you? Or maybe you're a bit miffed that you've been on YT for so long but never gathered a sufficient following such that you could catch a break on your taxes like Mr Hawkins here? Tell us what's actually troubling you, mate. Go on..
@nerdofdeath no worries mate. Life can be a real cunt sometimes. It can wear us down and have us retreat into our vices to get away from it all. You're no worse than anyone else for that. So don't beat yourself up about it. We've all been there. Look, this might sound kinda cheesy, but if you've got a bit of darkness (no pun intended) hangin' around, a good way to fight that off is to step out into the light -- take a walk in the sunshine, get some fresh air. Be in the moment; appreciate the warmth of the sun, literally stop and smell the flowers. Put a smile on your face like you're actually enjoying the day, and all the sudden you'll notice that you actually are. Rock on, bro - keep your chin up.. 🤘
Saw you at the Mohawk the other night Justin; the show was awesome. You looked like you were having as much fun as the audience. I love that! Thank you to you and your band mates, great show! 😎🤩❤️🎸
Justin Hawkins, you are a breath of fresh air. I LOVE your band The Darkness and believe you guys are the best thing that came out since the 90s ended! Thank you for keeping music alive with great work!!!
Just saw you guys in Edmonton at Union Hall a couple weeks ago and have now become an instant fan for life. Every album is exceptionally great. My wife was always a fan, and I liked the hits, but I really did myself a disservice by not giving your catalogue a fair listen all those years ago when you first blew onto the music scene. I could have been enjoying the best in balls to the wall rock and roll the whole time had I paid attention. The one benefit was that, standing right in front of the stage, I had no idea what I was going to be treated to that night. You guys were life-changing and it re-invigorated me and inspired me to push the limits on my own shows harder - way harder than I've been doing. From the bottom of my heart (the very darkest part) - thank you and the rest of the band. I'll never forget it as long as I live. My question is regarding your high register and what kinds of things you did in your regimen to open up that kind of access to high range. I'm a singer for a living and I'd kill to be able to sing even just one Darkness song, let alone the range you sing, with what seems like superhuman ease.
Totally love your honesty and openness. Very affable and a ton of sartorial eloquence (and elegance too.. I'll give you that one!). I look forward to seeing the alert that there is a new vid from you. Cheers! (Oh and vegan too.. doubled my respect for you.}
I had the pleasure of seeing you guys in SF last month on the night of your B-Day and you guys rocked! Thank you for reminding me how incredibly powerful rock and rock will restore us back to life. Every song was awesome! It was my first of what I hope will be many more shows by The Darkness.
I just want to thank you for the incredible performance I witnessed last night in Atlanta. Your playing specifically is one of the reasons I even started playing guitar, so seeing you for the first time last night was surreal to me. Frankie, Dan, and Rufus are top notch fellows and you can tell the Darkness is a well oiled machine. Once again, thank you for everything you all have done and will continue to do.
The more I listen to you talk the more I think 'what a top lad!' you are so level headed and sensible. You are insightful and it's fun to listen. Keep this going... You are turning into the Stephen fry of hard Rock mate!
For the next Q&A episode... 1) which is your favourite guitar solo to play from your back catalogue. 2) could you rank your albums from best to worst or best to better 😉. Love the videos 🤘
Greetings from Wales , Justin ~ Loved the super sexy Silver spangled catsuit with the silver fringed Sporran in which you graced The Trecco Bay stage last November . Once seen never forgotten , Late to the party however now a fan forever 🥰
now i'm curious to see your instrument collection and would be nice to show us your favourites and give us a little story of how and when you acquired the intstruments and why you like them so much
I'm an older fellah, first saw Rory Gallagher when I was 13, still love his output. He's the only rocker that springs to mind as having a bagpipe tune named in his honour.
Yo Justin I just happened to share an aircraft with you in New Zealand. Thank you for signing The Darkness/Push Push ticket for me! I took your advice and got Rufus' signature too along with your brother's and Frankie's. I tried to be as brief as possible with you to be respectful + airports/travel is not fun. Quick story: years ago I gave my brother Permission to Land for Xmas and when I opened his present he had given me the same thing! ~ love from Kiwi Land. + I sing bass (two octaves below middle C is my lowest note) so me trying to sing Darkness stuff makes people around me laugh. Do you have a memorable fan moment? (Good or bad)
Assuming he was still alive , can u imagine trying to get Rory to play in a equal status band, not because of ego but he was Soo fiercely independent. RIP the legend.
Peter Greens guitar that Kirk Hammet has now. 59’ Les Paul with the accidental pickup “issue” /not really. Sounds phenomenal and I’m a strat guy really but that guitar is.. otherworldly
Justin, We're the same age. I'd love to hear your perspective on the 91-92 era of music (The death of glam and the birth of grunge.) How did it effect/influence you as a budding musican?
A is the Rockingest chord because you can move it anywhere, diminish or augment it & it will still sound like Brian May, ac/dc, or even more obscure bands like Smashed Gladys.
You should review Wet Leg! They just released their much anticipated debut album today. 1.4 million listeners on Spotify even though they have never toured and only had about 4 songs released before today. It's basically all down to tiktok. Personally, I find them a little too try hard, but I'd love to hear your opinion!
Were you going into Hammer To Fall when you played the first A riff? Was so happy when I (kind of), learned to play that. Agree, but the E chord is still pretty bloody rockin' though.
My dream band: Ginger Baker (Drums), McCartney (Bass), Kurt Cobain (Rhythm Guitar), Me (Lead Guitar), and Freddie Mercury or David Bowie (Lead Vocals). Bowie would be my alternate actually. And why myself as lead guitarist....why not? who wouldn't want to be in their own dream band?
How about an analyses of the great Mike Patton on his amazing vocal ability. Or Dimash and his worlds best vocalist currently. SOS is a song to check out by Dimash. Its medicine for ones soul.I feel blessed to have heard such angelic music.
Justin can we all write a song with you on a live stream? You do the music, we'll throw some words at you, mix them sll together and see what we end up with.
Sent you a Super Chat but forgot type a message! How big of an influence was David Gilmore in your playing. I really like yours and his melodic playing.
I’d been holding off subscribing until you mentioned Mark king being in your super group!. Bosh!!!!!subscribed, liked!!!. Wallop!!!Love the video’s man, 🙌🏻
Tell me what went thru your head when you did fell of stage in Stockholm for like 7-8 years ago. You talked it of with grace but I stood in the audience wondering what you were thinking then 😁 Great show as always
Playing an instrument, while you may have learned in a myriad of ways, coalesces whilst playing with others, which JH has deftly explained. While the chemistry may vary, regardless of who is playing, is determined mostly by the individual personalities playing, regardless of their individual styles and how one may think they work. In my experience, in comes down to how much each person wants to give and take, even on the day.
Wow you would rather have Steve Jones' Les Paul rather than Pete Townshend's numbered LP's or Jeff Becks gold top LG or the one I would chose is Jimmy Pages number 1 Les Paul sunburst. Not only is it a beautiful guitar but some of the most iconic songs of all time have been played with that guitar. I have to ask why Steve Jonses' over all the others, a lot I haven't included like Keith Richards LP with the bar, Randy Rhodes gold top, Eric Clapton's original from the Yardbirds days. It intrigues me why Jonses' instead of the others.
Hey Justin...love the darkness great band musically and I love these vids you put out on youtube. I know the music business kind of pidgeon holes its acts...so your the band with heavy music and heavy innuendos...wouldn't have it any other way...but I would love to hear some heart on the sleeve music from you think you would have a wicked 'serious' album in you...very cheeky to ask an artist this kind of thing I know but please see it as encouragement rather than criticism...as I say love the darkness.
I would like to see you play Tom Morello‘s guitar. With that Killswitch. Just because it’s not your style so it would be interesting to see what you do with it 🤷♂️

Steve Jones sold his original while Les Paul years ago to some woman in Hawaii. I think he said Hawaii.
