For those of you curious why there's a 2.4g option: When it comes to wireless, it will always be the best option. Not to say that bluetooth is not a great addition and should be expected at that price point. For the more serious players, wired is a must, but can't hurt to have options!
Super bright idea to bring back controller discussions, especially in today’s day and age. I do think personally that while input lag matters, it really starts to become player specific until you reaallly want to become super competitive, heads up for others reading this comment! :)
F500 Elite has been my first & only stick, everything about it just feels so solid and it just works so well, plus the ease of customization is incredible
Mayflash started as a the company that made janky controller dongles/converters. Now they're up there with Brooks for converters and among the best for sticks.
I use a F500 Flat for SF6. I switched the buttons for Sanwas, but the stock buttons weren't bad at all. I was surprised how sturdy it felt, and genuinely felt like I got a great product at a bargain price. I got it about six months ago and it's still going strong.
It'd be cool to see you do a guide on how you approach arcade stick sometime, maybe with some common inputs/input shortcuts. Since you have about as much experience with one as anyone. Maybe I missed one from way back when.
@@duxnihilo its not, the Qanba Drone 2 is $40 cheaper and much better quality, or you could go for the Titan for only $30 more. You can also get a much better stick second-hand for much cheaper. I managed to get a Hori Rap 4 almost brand new with a K Lever for $40 on craigslist. There's just no reason to spend $150 on any mayflash given their quality and the other options available.
@@tinyparcel6305 Depends on which of their stores you get it from. One of them on Amazon has the T13 for around $0 but it's still a really good deal at $80 tbh.
A friend of mine gave me a F500 Elite for X-mas last year and I love fighting games but never had a chance to play on arcade as much as i would have liked when i was growing up. Now i enjoy using stick when playing SF6 and Tekken 8 very smooth and also loved that you can easily customize everything about it. Definitely recommend for people who are barely getting into stick.
If MayFlash is paying attention to the comments, I would like to see a flat F101 and F300. The F500 FLAT is great, but I want a smaller button controller option as well.
I think Mayflash's smaller and thinner version is on the way, but just don't know the release date. And the F700 Flat wireless leverless controller will be avaialble before this Thankgsgiving Day.
Thanks for showing these, Justin. I've been skiddishly considering trying a stick for the upcoming MvC Collection, and the F700 seems like it might be a good place to start. $15/mo for 1 year, and I can send it back if I decide that stick isn't for me within a couple of weeks. I'm 40, and the last time I played on stick was the original KI in like 1996 😅
One thing that jumps out is that while the multi symbols for each button is nice, a small thing they could have added for next to nothing would be to color coordinate the input selector wheel names to correspond with the color matched input symbols on each button. It’s not hard to figure out as is, but would be a nice added touch. Green button inputs with a green “Xbox” input label, blue with PS button and input, red for Switch, etc.
I got a f500 base for really cheap (50$ish), upgraded to sanwa parts and my own art, have been using it since. Ive tried multiple 200$ sticks and while they are all great, im taking my f500 every time. Its such a great entry level product, and customizable.
First custom stick was the Mayflash 500 V2. Absolutely love it and while it's been replaced by the Kitsune, they're great beginner sticks and insanely easy to customize.
I love the arcade stick reviews, Justin. I like all of the options on the 700. I wish some other guys in the FGC would do it too. It seems like some people get sponsored by some companies then they don't really open up about things anymore. I'm sitting here modding my Sanwa JLF with new tension springs and actuators and playing with the gates. I think it's fun.
I bought myself a Mayflash F500 Elite and I use it for about more than a year now. I'm glad its mod friendly so that you can install a Brook UFB, as well as any button and lever of choice. I also want to get myself a F700 Elite. The Mayflash F500, Mayflash F700 and the Qanba Drone 2 are good introductions if you want to use an Arcade Stick for the first time.
The only things I can suggest to Mayflash to improve the F700 is to make the top panel open via latch like the Panthera/TE2 and to get rid of that weird 5 pin they use instead of the standardized one. Like they know people will swap levers but make them go an extra step in ordering connector cables for their new lever. Otherwise at $150, it's kind of ridiculous how much is packed into it. Sticks in the higher price range don't even support that many platforms or levers and don't have wireless support.
I bought the F300 when SF6 launched and had no problems with it since then. Looking forward to getting the F700 since the bigger size is pretty enticing, I can barely move my hands around without slipping with F300.
I have 4 different mayflash. They are ok stock components and functional. Obviously the point of most of these is to use your favorite components which make them more expensive than what they already are but they last a lot longer than any gamepads due to the natural build.
After like 4 years without a stick i got a F700 swapped in a modified jlx and sanwa buttons with art. Personally i wanted a stick that would work on my playstations, android, switch ect. Been working well so far and enjoy it alot for the first month.
Oh! 2 years ago I was looking for a stick that wasn't expensive and I found the Mayflash F500, as my first stick and the one i'm still currently using I can say without a doubt it is a pretty solid one for those who are thinking on getting a stick for the first time.
Yo. I was a casual acquaintance of Rodolfo Castro in Seattle back in the day. I remember when you won MVC2 at Evo how everyone said you just played lame. In my mind you sucked (sorry this was the early 2000's). I have to say that you are my favorite FGC personality, and the only reason why I am looking at arcade stick reviews on UA-cam. Thanks for being dope. But WTF is Yips killing you every MVC2 match I see between you two lately. Come on man.
While I am getting a new fightstick to replace my f500 I don't think I am ever getting rid of it. its what kickstarted my fighting game enjoyment beyond occasional offline play.
I have the f500v2 with Sanwa buttons and joystick I love it bought one for my nephew too. Can't wait for mvc and mcv2. It's got a heavy base so it doesn't move. The weight is nice and sturdy. Got them for 50 bucks used on Amazon they are pretty much brandnew.
I have the F700 and it's pretty decent especially for the price. Having said that as much fun using a stick or leveless is, I feel reaction time on a pad is unmatched for me personally.
Thanks for the insight of this video I've always wanted to get a fight stick but was never sure if joystick/all button was better seems like its personal preferance but this gives me a better idea of what i should get
The F500 flat has been my goto since it launched, It's great. Only thing is the stock Mayflash buttons aren't the best, which is fine considering the price, they feel like sandy Sanwas while needing a bit more force. They work fine, especially if this is your first Stick/Leverless, but if you are used to Sanwas or more premium buttons, you will probably want to switch them out. I stuck some Gravity KS buttons in mine, and I love it.
Hey Justin the SF6 community needs your help. SF6 community is in need of an update for the practice/combo mode. It is essential to have the capability to input combos into practice mode, save them, and practice them. Additionally, enabling users to share newly found combos within the community would be highly beneficial.
If you use a keyboard (even just for typing or WASD for gaming) or play an instrument, the jump to leverless is pretty painless as well. I made the swap recently and it's hard to go back despite how much I enjoy stick.
Before you make a big change, double check that your form on the Lever is proper. Keep the wrists straight and in line with the stick as well as keeping stick motions small and smooth. I had to pay close attention to those things and I never really notice pain from playing.
My first stick was quite recent, although at the beginning I wasn't really been on diving into it immediately considering that I did a good research before buying one, but yeah in the end just last October, as a personal birthday present I bought a Krom Kumite, and I have to say that for the price (I got it for 60/70$) and the quality of the stick itself after almost a year of playing it's still good and fun to use, but maybe soon I will also get a wireless one.
What blows my mind is ppl who use Fighting Arcade Sticks on a Conceal which they can modify to make it easy mode n say they are fighting game prob wanna try something impossible try playing Fighting game on PC with a Keyboard that right there if u can do that n pull off combos you will be fighting game God also Justin Check out Fighting Layers its basically the Street Fighter Ex 4
Why Lever or leverless JW? Would love to hear your thoughts on the pros and cons of each and whether one has an inherent advantage over the other or is it more due to player skill. You'd be doing this old veteran a favor my man 🔥
The latency claims could only be there for people who can hit 1-frame precision already. And even that 1 frame is 1/60th of a second while a lot of these devices have a polling rate in microseconds. People play fighting games on regular wiresless controllers too that often have way worse polling rate than 2.4Ghz devices. I wouldn't use a wireless device at Evo finals because there is always a chance of interference, disconnect, etc. but for playing at home who cares? But #1 concern for any i put device should be comfort of use. If you can reliably finish a combo and not drop input it is way more important than latency.
Justin. Any suggestions for right handed fighting sticks or good fighting sticks that can be switched/programmed to do both right or left handed stick? Unfortunately, I’ve been crossing my hands in arcades since 1985 any character I use I could only play on a specific side of the screen.😢
I would really love some new Fightpads ...tried quite a few and none really clicked with me (though not tried the newest hori commander) but for me if there was a Madcatz SfxT controller but with better build quality and a little bit smaller with more click tactile buttons and the floating D-Pad that would be pretty close
Justin, I'd like to know what you think of the Haute42 M Series Plus Leverless Controllers and see if it would be something you'd prefer over the Razer Kitsune. I think that would be a nice comparison to look at. The M13 / M16 Plus look quite nice and are relatively affordable, in an arcade stick / leverless controller sense. And the Plus ones are just as large as the Kitsune, too.
I was looking at those just recently as i wanted to try moving to a stick for the first time. I got myself an 8bitdo stick and learned i cant play for sh** on stick. I have to go back to controller.
Id say definitely try it out, I was on a f300 for almost 2 years before switching to haute42 R16 not too long ago and I honestly love it, all the haute42 products are good budget picks and the F500 flat is good if you want something heavier feeling, was a pad player before both stick and leverless
@ungabungaofficial6175 Yeah, I'll for sure try leverless. I was thinking of getting either the F500 flat or just getting the F700 stick. I'll keep looking into it before I make a choice.
I remember you put the Mayflash fightstick on trash list with Kizzie Kay video aka [What is the BEST Fighting Game Arcade Stick? (ft. Kizzie Kay, Justin Wong) ]
I do not understand why hitbox buttons are always crammed in the middle of the board, I mean do you really need to play with your hands so close together?, Why don't they design the left hand buttons further form the right hand buttons? If anybody can give some insight on this I would really appreciate it. I think it would be more comfortable to play with your hands a bit further away.
I already own the F700, but if they made a F700 "Flat" I'd buy it -- or at least try it. But I'm not going to buy the F500Flat. That seems like their attempt to repurpose unsold F500's, and eventually they'll release an all-button F700. I'll just wait for that.

$150 for the F700 is insane, but $80 for the leverless is actually pretty great. Shoutout to those AliExpress Haute joints for moving the needle.

which restrictor do you use? square or octagonal? which do you think is better?
Im back in this video after Marvel collection released. Need an updated joystick tier list 😂
I probably do need to switch to lever less. I’ve heard a few people say it’s easier on your hands, and sometimes I do notice an ache.

i use a f500 v2 with sanwa parts swapped in. was a good price and great quiality. works about as well as any other stick.
I was looking at those just recently as i wanted to try moving to a stick for the first time. I got myself an 8bitdo stick and learned i cant play for sh** on stick. I have to go back to controller.
f500 flat is really nice and has better build quality than the haute pad t series imo at about the same price tag (EU) .
Can anyone tell me if it's worth switching to leverless? I love playing stick, and idk if i should get another stick or try out leverless.

Oh damn I was expecting it to be a lot more expensive but it's just $90, that's Haute42 range.
I might buy it just to try it out :O
Updated: I did.
I'm building a small collection of pads and sticks now.
I got my first leverless this month and i'm facing a lot of wrist pain, i'm using it wrong or ITS normal to feel this pain in the start?
I want to get my first leverless and it seems the F500 is the only way to go on xbox series x
Would you use a TE1 if it had a ps5 board?
The 8bitdo arcade stick had the WiFi dongle for a minute.

Recently bought the F500 all buttons but haven’t had the time to start practicing :/
damn if the leverless worked on PS5 i woulda scooped.
I need a ps4 stick for MvC collection
I already own the F700, but if they made a F700 "Flat" I'd buy it -- or at least try it. But I'm not going to buy the F500Flat. That seems like their attempt to repurpose unsold F500's, and eventually they'll release an all-button F700. I'll just wait for that.
Justin, one ofmy earlies videos I've seen of you is you telling people to stop buying trash mayflash
