About analog vinyl level, do you made any test? I'm asking because I recently bought a Numark Scratch mixer and the analog vinyl level is a crap. I'm thinking buy a djm-250mk2 for hybrid use (DVS and analog).
I have used this with analog and DVS vinyl before and it has much better sound than the Numark Scratch. Still not audiophile or Rane mixer territory, but definitely a bit better. Turntables and cartridges can make a difference too.
just got this mixer paired with CDJ 800MK2s...Very convenient using DVS with timecode built in. Rekordbox is CRAZY responsive with my cdjs and the sound is super clean..To my understanding you can use any timecode brand you want! They say its a bedroom mixer but i used this at the bar last night. Gains were solid and sound was crisp on a pro house system. Rekordbox ran smooth except for one tiny glitch lol but im overall pleased so far with the package their providing.
So glade to hear this. I have a set of cdj 800mk2's. Looking to at some point get xdj2000. So I'm glade someone did this. Trying to fig out interface boxes, Serato DJ and dvs. This seems to be a great way to transition over to Rekordbox. Thanks for posting about your experience.
03:08 Ok this is what I am fully interested in here. The crossfader. I am getting somewhat mixed reviews on it and whether or not it is actually good for scratching. 1 guy in a video said it wasn't great but good for a beginner, another dude said it was ok for scratching but he still replaced it with an innofader. I guess my main question is, if when using the mixer as a standalone for scratching, does the crossfader have any weird input lag?
@@RealDJblaze Ok I have one last question, would you say that crossfader is better than a regular crossfader from an old DJM 500/600 range? It's the latency and lack of sharpness that I'm worried about. I can't deal with the weird lag you get from some of these newer crossfaders.
Is this all you need, in addition to the timecode vinyl, and a turntable, to just do basic scratching with Rekordbox? So, no DDJ needed? And/or could this work alongside a DDJ-SX for a couple extra decks? Thanks so much!
Is there a work around for Booth? Most monitors have their own volume knob no? Would there be a way to hook up a monitor out the headphone jack? What do you think?
Hi you had on awahile back the Numark Mixdeck Quad, do you still have it I'm looking to buy one and figured yours be in Mint shape, and on this Pioneer 250MK2 can you use it for doing weddings or events not a home mixer ,
Don't have any mixdeck quads, but check ebay... Also the 250MK2 can be used for weddings and events, but then you also need additional controllers, turntables, decks or something else. You will also need an external small PA mixer to add more mic inputs to the setup...
I recently tested the Rekordbox DVS with this mixer and at 1.3 ms latency the sound is distorted. Why? Serato grams without problem for 1 ms. Laptop i5, 8 GB Ram, SSD. Any advice?
thanks for the review. this with a sp1 is a great small set up for a dvs set up. wonder if the new rekordbox will be great in the future, might be a change for me soon
Great review mate, this pioneer mixer is much better then more expensive 450 mk2, reason being its got more space for mixing, which is important if you want to be a tight mixer or scratch Dj , only problem I found is DVS with technics turntable pitch does not work as good as serato Dj in DVS mode , I think pioneer made the DVS pitch system for pioneer turntable pitches ??? If your Dj who likes to mix vinyl I mean not scratching or dropping
You could buy akia AMX controller for DVS and route 1 output as channel 1 and headphone output as channel 2 and adjust levels , it works but you loose return fx on channel 2 as result , cheaper then SL box ? Denon ?
To change to a real vinyl record, you just need to hit the switch at the top of that channel to change it from DVS (computer) mode or change it back to Line/Phono regular inputs...
Cool man, I bought this mixer set up, with Rekordbox DJ, so does that mean I have access to Rekordbox DJ for life, where it has the license included?? Thanx bro, great video..... 👍👌💪🙏😎🔥🔥🔥💯🐺🎄
Yooo I just got almost the same exact set up as you! Got 2 stanton t62s with the djm 250 mk2. Still waiting on my second t62 to come in! I had a question regarding the CV. Do I HAVE to use rekordbox control vinyl or can I use any? I bought serato performance CV.. I don't gotta return these do i?
No you don't lol. I have Stanton T.120's that are discontinued. They are super OEM turntables with super high-torque motors. Look them up. You DO need Rekordbox vinyl for accuracy. The Serato vinyl used with rekordbox software works, but not as good...
Any tips on how to set it up? Just got my first stanton t62 hooked up. Shows that I'm receiving signal when I go to the calibrate tab of the preferences but hitting start on the turntable doesn't start the song in rekordbox.
DJbooth DJ's I tried that! The rel/abs/int square under the channel number is gray instead of purple. I read on pioneer that that means I'm not receiving signal but I could hear noise when I turn on the turn table..
Are you getting a timecode signal that looks like a circle in the calibration menu? If not, then you are not sending signal. You need to hook it up again or change something...
So to go with Serato, Pioneer have made the DJM-S3 the exact same mixer but charge $250 more!!!! Clearly want to promote there own software brand, yet won't even include RB Control vinyl... Robbing us blind!!! Made my mind up now....Traktor Z2 all the way! 👌🏻
Thanx man, great video my ninja, just scooped up one of these, & it literally feels like a beast!! Im not into using computers, & all the bells & whistles & buttons, that alot of todays mixers come compatible with. So, where its got your basic oldskool mixer set up, & also has the Magvel Fader inside, this mixer will absolutely be a huge game changer, as far as my DJ Skratching skills go! Only up from here, & your videos are wicked appreciated my friend. Its great videos like this, that school me, on what I need to know about any DJ equipment....... Respex, Big Upz, & Mad Love to the Skratch DJs....... 👍👊💪🙏😎
From a user: -Just a small correction, as per Pioneer's own parts list, the crossfader is the same as on the DDJ SZ. -The line faders as stiff as f... -DVS tracking is garbage compared to any other platform. Does not track slow movements at all, which makes cue point adjustments a pain on the fly. - The internal design is horrible and absolutely not made to last or be repaired. For example the mid section with upfaders and curve switches are on one single pcb. Break one fader? Start soldering or replace the whole pcb. - Otherwise a pretty fun little mixer for cutting, but the dvs is not ready for any serious dj. - Recordbox is an awesome library management program! :)
Oliver B Faders are the first thing to break on any given mixer, even though they will last a long time. I just prefer having a well thought out internal layout that is serviceable. Depends on personal style, but I'm a hip hop DJ, so faders get a lot of wear and tear and I'm used to fixing/modding my mixers. Other than that, the mixer is good, but was surprised how poor the DVS vinyl tracking is.
Oliver B I'm not certain of the length, but my impression is that it's actually a bit lengthier than typically. The external small power brick does have a standard C7/8 (two pin) coupler, so you can extend it if need be.
hey mate just a question. just bought mine few days ago and today i had a chance to have a little go on it... i can't get a sharp cut on the crossfader! its bothering me a lot. i saw that on the djm s9 you can ajust the silence amount at either end of the cross fader on the firmware of the mixer. but couldn't find nothing about it on the 250 mk2 firmware.
vitor hugo Although they share the same branding, they are different faders and different design. The S9 fader is Maglev Pro. Unfortunately the 250 cross doesn't have the same features. I think the cut is perfectly fine, but I did a mod to make the cut in distance a bit tighter on mine.
Hey what's up bro I was thinking about getting the D JMS 3 from Pioneer but I was wondering is the djm 250 MK2 A better mixer to get and does it come with the fully unlock feature of rekordbox where I can do my recorded mixes and my laptop like a controller does it come with timecode CDs if not where do you go to purchase the timecode CDs thanks you
The DJM-250MK2 is the same as the DJM-S3 ... The 250 is for Rekordbox and the DJM-S3 is for Serato DJ. Pick which software you want to use, and then choose the mixer on that presumption...

@@andykelly7321 No weird lag here... It is a great crossfader in there already. It's a Magvel so its very tight.

@@RealDJblaze sweet thanx

wish they'd include control vinyl. would've bought this for sure
do Recordbox support pioneer cdj 800 mk2 ?
If you pair this up with the DDJ XP1, it should give you great functionality with rekordbox.
I recently tested the Rekordbox DVS with this mixer and at 1.3 ms latency the sound is distorted. Why? Serato grams without problem for 1 ms. Laptop i5, 8 GB Ram, SSD. Any advice?
I haven't experienced that issue. Please contact Pioneer support...
thanks for the review. this with a sp1 is a great small set up for a dvs set up. wonder if the new rekordbox will be great in the future, might be a change for me soon

I didnt have any breakdowns on either...

Can I use a couple of tired CDJ 800 using timecode CD with this mixer ?
You sure can!
Yep. As long as you have the timecode cd, it will probably work on any dj cd media player...

Hey!
If I were to use the DVS system and two time code vinyls, would I be able to quickly change to a real vinyl record or would this not be possible?
To change to a real vinyl record, you just need to hit the switch at the top of that channel to change it from DVS (computer) mode or change it back to Line/Phono regular inputs...
Are the knobs made with rubber just like the ones on the DJM 450? Thanks!
YES.

Check the VDJ website.

Good review, is Pioneer finished making Serato controllers?
they recently came out with the ddj-sz2
I bet they'll make a DDJ-SR2 too!
