This was very helpful. Paid someone to clean the carburetor on my generator a few years ago. Pulled it out for the upcoming hurricane and won't start. Removed the carburetor and it looked clean, disassembled the fuel pump assembly and found i was missing the diaphragm spring and cap and one of the little springs. I went to parts store and ordered a rebuild kit and reassembled the fuel pump and it fired right up. Thank You!!
Very helpful, but two things: used guitar strings are AWESOME for cleaning the passages, they are a variety of sizes and some are smooth, some are wound. Second, I really wish you had shown the model number of the carb, and part number for the rebuild kit.
Hello Kevin. Thanks you on the twin carb videos. Did you make a video on putting it back on the mower. Mine looks just like that carb. Old one 3 screw. New one replacement part out of date old model is a 4 scree. Please point me if you made the install video.
Unfortunately I didn't make a reinstall video but its not very difficult as the governor shaft contains a small linkage that affixes to a plastic pivet control arm mounted on the intake that then protrudes a secondary linkage that affixes its self to the carb ……. note that there are typically two bolts 3/8 that secure the carb to the intake manifold from the underside ……..and just before affixing the carb to its respectful place upon the intake manifold insert the bakelite insulator with its respected gaskets.
Thank you for the excellent video. I've ordered a rebuild kit and am going to see if that is what is causing my mower not to start. I have the same carb but the bottom of the air filter box is riveted to the top of the carburetor body. What a stupid setup. Can you tell me if the flywheel has a shear pin? I have the engine manual and it does not show one. I thought perhaps the timing is off. If the carb rebuild doesn't work, I was going to pull the fly wheel to see if the shear pin is bent, but if it doesn't have one I don't want to go through the trouble.
Don't be tempted to use a hammer to hit the top of the flywheel as this can and often will damage the magnets under the flywheel . Simply use a flywheel puller and a pry bar by lifting the flywheel slightly upward and applying shock with a hammer to the torqueing bolt of the puller centered with the flywheel and top of the crankshaft .
Just purchase a 1/4 _20 tap and a bolt of all thread 1/4_20 about 3 inches long with a nut to use as a jam nut ….Then use a 12 mm socket deep well to cover over the brass seat ….. I have a video explaining how this method works ….it may help if there is any confusion ….You can reinstall the new seat with a small round punch set and a hammer just be careful not to drive the seat in to far …...I often will assemble my hinge pin with float and needle several times to insure the proper fit as just driving the seat in intel it bottoms out is risky
John most hardware stores will carry a 1/4_20 tap for about 5 dollars and you can purchase a tap tee handle for about 6 dollars to fit the 1/4 _ 20 tap …….But if your doing this on a budget simply use a vise grip pliers and a 1/4 _ 20 tap to thread the old brass seat .
Thanks for getting back to me i really appreciate that...a friend of mine helped me out exactly how you explained...thanks for the advice, you definitely know what your talkin about.
I have a carb with 4 screws on fuel pump. Any info on rebuilding or going through the carb and cleaning it? I've heard that it is a " Nikki" and they are expensive to buy and buy parts for them. Any suggestions?
Switch it out for the 3 screw design then buy a simple repair kit from TE Warehouse for about 12 dollars ....If a float is required they also can be purchased threw TE Warehouse.
Dammit man , where the hell does the cork gasket go , some say against the plastic , others say against the steel , but shit man , you don't even show it

Yes it will have a timing key or sheer pin .

@@kevinbolin7665 Thanks a lot Kevin.
Can you tell me how to replace the brass seat.
They are pressed in, you need a tap to remove it.
is that walbro 3 screw carb available anywhere if so where? I have tried knock of after market 4 screw it runs full throttle ok not low throttle
How can you change the brass needle seat under float...don't have a tap?

Thank you! I will look into that!
Where i can buy this 3 screw carburetor?
What is the part number for the 3 screw repair kit?
Which is better the 3 or 4 screw carb?
Dammit man , where the hell does the cork gasket go , some say against the plastic , others say against the steel , but shit man , you don't even show it
Against the steel pump plate with the screws on it
