I found this corner house that was getting crazy overgrown so I went to go talk to a bunch of neighbors to see what was going on. Nobody really knew the story behind the place but they told me that homeless people live inside during the winter and it’s concerning sometimes because they start fires inside to stay warm. I did find an old picture of the home from about 15 years ago and it looked like a family lived there and it was well taken care of. So, I thought I would get the lawn and edges cleaned up again to make it look better for the neighborhood.

I love watching your videos. I purchased my 96 year old grandma's house and as you can imagine she hadn't been able to keep up with what use to be meticulously well-kept lawn and garden. Watching you has helped me learn how to take care of the overgrown mess and how to restore it back to it's former glory. We appreciate you so much.

@deniseginn5478 What's sad, and what may be part of the reason for our national illiteracy problem, is the tendency in many people to see grammar-correcting as an oppressive act instead of a helpful one. Such resentment almost always exists in those who most need the correction.
I don't know what makes me more sad, the actual condition of the yards or the fact that no one knows what happened to their neighbors. In either case, you are truly spreading kindness and beauty wherever you go, Spencer.
My neighbor across the street from me hasn't been seen in months. His lawn was recently mowed (not very good) but no one seen who did it. It's sad I don't know more.
I'm more concerned about where the people keep disappearing to. Alien abductions? Went to hospital and never came back? Decided to skip town to avoid creditors? Disappeared in a state forest on a hike, somewhere? Visiting the family for simply ages? It bothers me...
There was probably no one living there when the neighbor he was talking to moved in.

Corner lights are no more abandoned or neglected than any other lots. The UA-camrs choose those lots for the shooting angles and having more to cover in one video

The attitude of that neighbor explains a lot. Not going to get "no money". So many people now expect to be paid for everything they do. Neighbors could easily keep that looking nice now that you have done most of the hard labor. They won't because they expect to be paid. Not a lot of the giving spirit any more. Thank you for still embodying that spirit.
I agree with your sentiments. I live in an apartment complex with some yard around. Although lawns are routinely cut there is still some maintenance that can be done. I am 84 this June and get out and do a little garden work. No excuses! 👍👳🏻♀️
Sad he won't do anything to help. Probably rather drink a 40 and watch the grass grow.
Why do you think people shouldn't be paid for their work? Spencer gets paid for his work on these "free" jobs, he just doesn't collect it from the person who owns the property. The reason the neighbor told Spencer he wouldn't get paid is because he sees that Spencer has a lawncare *business* and in order to stay in business, he needs to get paid for his work. The neighbors keep up their own property. If the neighbor was sick, sure help out and mow their lawn while they're down, but to expect people to just volunteer their time and put wear and tear on their own lawn mowers in perpetuity is not realistic and very unreasonable.

I keep the lot next to me mowed,weeded, and trimmed up and the two storm drains cleaned out and it amazes me how many lazy neighbors walking by tell me how late I am doing it, or stop and tell what I ought to do abs just basic inane stupid advice. While no offers to help.

I am always amazed at how you can tell where the walkways are. I would never have been able to find them with all of those weeds!

It might have once been a path to somewhere. I have seen some walks that run right to the side of a porch that wasn't built when the concrete was poured.
edit: Or a porch WAS there when the path was poured.
It might have been all the path the original homeowner wanted to or could pay for.
It might have been an artistic choice. Like those stepping-stone paths some people have instead of a walk, like I want to hopscotch to the front door every time.

I think this all the time as I watch Spencer bending over shoveling grass and weeds off of sidewalks and driveways. I did concrete work for 20 years and my back is paying for that hard work. Take care of yourself Spencer!

That driveway was so much gone you couldn't even see it except the entry way to the road.
Sometimes I wonder if it's worth the massive effort to uncover some of the driveways Spencer cleans up. This one wasn't too bad, but that little extra sidewalk could have stayed buried.

These houses make me sad. You have to know that at one time that house was someone's pride and joy based on that picture. To see it neglected like that is just sad. Thank you for what you do and bringing back some of the pride for this house.

They could make it additional parking, that's all i could think of, but who knows! I personally would get rid of the grass between the 2 or let the small one grow back over.
I think the second walkway with an older home is for.......the milkman! Back in the day when the milkman delivered the milk, maybe they created a small path for him to reach the front stoop? I dunno. It is weird, but that's my guess.
