Thank you so much, this has relieved the majority of back pain I've had for over 20 years ! I am now 53. I have spent a lot of time and money with a chiropractor using Neuro Impulse Protocol which helped temporarily but never cured any of my pain for good. At no time has a GP or chiropractor ever mentioned that the way I sleep could affect the amount of pain I've been in. Since trying these methods with ordinary pillows, both sleeping on my back and side, I am for the most part, now pain free. I've treated myself to a half moon pillow for behind my knees and a pillow for between my knees as an early Christmas present to myself. Once again, thank you so much, I feel like a new person.

I watched this video a couple of weeks ago and returned just because I wanted to write a review here and thank them. I have been suffering from a low back pain that radiates to my right leg. I tried all kinds of medicine, therapies and massages, nothing helped. This video has been super useful. I tried the exercise described here and it actually helped. I will not say the pain was relieved forever (for that, I will have to find the cause and treat it and I'm on it) but every time I experience back pain/discomfort, I try these exercises and it actually relieves me off the pain immediately. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for making this video!! This is super helpful and very very informative. Thank you!!

You skinstry keeping a thin pillow or a small pillow under your tummy so that it doesn't cause any stress to your tummy but it pushes your lower back up
I do that and every time I put a pillow under my tummy I feel insane relief.

You're 20 and dealing with these issues? You need to check if you have some sort of disorder. I had issues with my neck since I was around 17. I was diagnosed in my thirties with a degenerative disorder of the spine. I'm going through hell with it right now at 43. I would also suggest doing a lot of back, neck and abs strengthening exercises to avoid ending up like me. Glucosamine, collagen, Vit D, Magnesium, Vit K and Calcium to keep your bones strong. Quit soda if you drink it.

I have four fused vertebrae in my neck and sleep on my side. I also have a spinal cord injury. I use a buckwheat hull pillow that has a zipper, and by adding or removing the hulls, I can attain a neutral position with my spine. Pillows are essentially a fixed floating device on a mattress. What may feel right on a firm mattress will not be the same as on a pillow top mattress because the body and shoulders sink in more. I have struggled a long time with mattresses and pillows over the last 35 years living with the neck and spinal cord injury and a buckwheat Hull pillow is the best support for my neck while sleeping I have encountered. Granted I have a very fragile and sensitive neck but thought I would offer the above insights that may help others with a similar problems.

Same here. I'm a young guy and both American and Indian doctors tell me I shouldn't be having disc issues in my lumbo-sacral and cervical regions. I do now understand after watching this video why everytime lying down on bed in supine position eases pressure on my lower back as soon as I fold my fingers as if I'm going to punch somebody and place it under my lower back. Earlier spine used to "pop" and give instant relief from any pain but for quite some, I notice no popping at all. What's the issue with your knees? I see you may be German or Swedish. Is it because of the cold weather you have?

Have you made sure your laptop set up is ergonomic? Like the screen not so low your neck strains for example and maybe use a desk that raises up and down to alternate sitting and standing. Supportive chair. And yes taking breaks with an alarm to stretch, walk, go outside, dance, socialize, have herbal tea or a healthy snack, lie down, or whatnot.

Flower SafeHeart Hello. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for your wonderful suggestions. :) Yes. I consulted the ergonomics team at my workplace and they helped me setup my workstation. Didn’t help much though. Because my pain had already set in. And once that happens, there is very little you can do to get rid of it. There are some therapies available out there. But I don’t know how effective or sustainable they are.

Great video! Yes, I was a stomach sleeper well into my thirties, couldn't fall asleep any other way. However, trained myself to sleep on my side and yes I love the extra pillow between my knees and I actually have another small cushion under my armpit (result of time with shoulder injury). Changing sides during sleep with the pillows takes some practice... ha ha.

Really interesting video. My pattern for many years is I start off as a side sleeper and then go onto my stomach but have recently suffered from lower back pain first thing in the morning, and it’s slowly eased through the day. Need to try other positions eg: side sleeper to hopefully eliminate this problem. Thing is we all start with the best intensions but don’t realise we change positions in the night whilst we’re fast asleep and this defeats the object. Why does sleeping have to be hard work 🤷‍♂️

@@toneandtighten you might want to do more research on this, though. I have digestive issues, and sometimes it helps to 'make things move' and feel less bloated if I sleep on my stomach with a little pillow under my stomach for the necessary pressure. The pillow also makes sure my back does not arch too much. I agree the neck rotation is still an issue.

Of all the videos that I have watched, this was simpler and far more informative and confirms what I am already doing. I do have a question though, I am a side sleeper and have suffered for many years with a severe pain in my right leg (amongst many others) which has now forced me to put my right leg slightly forward and a pillow directly behind my leg to support my left leg as the pain is too severe to have my legs together on top of each other. I now have pinch nerves in both my thighs which won't release. I have been to a chiropractor, massage therapist, MRI's done and dusted with no answers. I have watched many many videos for answers to help release these pinch nerves as they are painful and I'm obviously concerned about permanent nerve damage. I am taking tranquilizer's at night so that I can at least sleep as the pain is too severe. Is there a specific exercise that I can do that will help release these pinch nerves?

sorry about pain, please look into traction therapy. it's old but works, If no results with traction more pulling force is needed. but increase pull slowly with caution. search traction device home use.

I sleep on my side but i have to constantly switch sides and that wakes me up so i barely ever really sleep
Going to try and train myself to sleep on my back . I think that’s the best position
It’s just hard to change after a lifetime

It can be the best position! Good luck!

I used to be a back sleeper, but I developed sleep apnoea as I got older. You have to watch that if you try that position

I accidentally figured this out after having pelvic surgery and couldn’t sleep and had to adopt these sleeping positions. When I could sleep normally, the back pain returned. Now I know for sure how harmful stomach sleeping is. Thank you for this video
