Downhill bikes are better for downhill, Enduro bikes are better for enduro. Boom. I blew everyone's mind. Problem solved. Your welcome. So as to which one you should buy, the answer is simple: both
Definately buy an enduro bike first. If you're maxxing out its downhill potential get a cheaper used DH and ride it hard. You won't feel so bad hucking it on an alloy DH compared to a nice enduro.
Gaming Series08 that's why it's called an investment my friend. If you really care about mtb you'd make some sacrafices to save up for a bike Edit: well some people care more than others but I mean if you take it seriously
No, thats the overall time. The Downhiller had 1:40 overall but was slower in this split. The enduro was 1:45 overall time and 5 seconds slower than the downhiller because the downhiller was faster the 2 splits before, but still was slower in split 3.
Think its way more interesting that he went with a full face on the dh bike and half lid with the enduro. Riding the same track but at higher speeds with a way less protecting helmet just becuase one has slightly more travel. Logical reasoning at its finest ;) I for one as come to the conclusion that if my jaw hit a rock at 20 kph it is going to break the same regardless if I'm aboard 20mm more travel, so I therefore go with the full face. Only exception if its really really warm (really dont get warm this far north to be fair) or I know that I going for a really easy ride.
Johan Norberg yeah I've noticed this a lot, it's a shame because the trail you're riding should dictate what protection you wear, not the bike and the subsequent fashion. If you're riding downhill trails you should wear a full face, even if you're on a hardtail.. In fact it's probably more important on a hard tail because you have a higher chance of crashing!

Really liked the layout of the content. Making a bet on the pool added a bit of entertainment for me! lol blake is quickly becoming the funny guy with all the noises he makes in every video. at first it was bothering me but now its growing on me. great stuff guys
If you are faster down a downhill track on an enduro bike, then you are not riding a real downhill track. No shit the enduro bike is going to be quicker when there is a large pedal section at the bottom of the track. Do the same test down MSA and look at the results.
This is science at its finest. Exactly why UCI has banned Enduro bikes from competing in UCI DH events. ;) Clearly 40mm less travel and an open face helmet is keeping Gwin from rainbow jersey.
Spoiler alert: the DH bike is faster on the downhills, and the Enduro is faster on the flats and climbs. Overall, it turns out your test track has more flats and climbs than descents. This Scott DH bike has a hell of a lot of suspension pivots.... Why so complicated?
This is a tough one! I would imagine this really would come down to the rider unless you were doing massive hits that required the extra travel of a DH bike. Regardless, another great video!
Geeorge Simonson Split 1: DH 2 seconds ahead Split 2: DH still half a second ahead Split 3: DH now 5 seconds ahead End: Enduro 7 seconds ahead So your interpretation makes no sense, the DH only lost in the second and the fourth part of the track.
I have a trek M5 hardtail and I literally treat that thing like a road bike, but i got it so I have something that can take a beating and is fast and fun
Scotty will win the internet one day. Most of his comparsion videos are like "I will make it look like I am the best of the best, even if the whole thing does not make any sense".
I think the more important question is that which bike and style of riding is more fun. At least that's what riding is about for me. Still a nice video, you both seem like fun guys and you are good at what you do.
You can do nearly everything with an enduro bike, that you can do with an DH bike, you just have to be more concentrated and ride more active and choose lines accordingly. Best of both worlds would be a 170/180mm Freerider such as Enduro Evo, Scott Voltage, Knolly Delirium, Kona Process 167 etc. which are slacker, have a bit more travel and a bit burlier frames.
No, it won't be answered. If you take both to a "baby" track like this, sure the enduro can keep up. Take it to a real DH course, and the poor enduro bike is going to simply be slow, or you're going to lose control trying to keep up. Similarly, take a DH bike to an enduro or XC-based track, you're going to be dying trying to get it around the course. Take it to Redbull Rampage, let me know how the enduro bike does.
Personally I’d buy an enduro bike first because it is heaps versatile but since I basically only ride XC and race DH I bought a Downhill before enduro.
Great video as always. I don't care about the result. I had the choice last summer between an Enduro steed and a DH sled and I made the right choice with the big bike. I have more fun on it and I don't really care about the push when the downhill is just gnarly. Maybe I'll go for a big enduro rig next but for me, DH always wins no matter what.
Those tracks were rided by same person or it was 2 different people? Because i think that i woudl be better to get DH to ride on DH bike since both disciplines need different type of training to ride fast.
For some reason this just popped up on my feed. So here we are in 2021 and my enduro bike has 180/170mm travel, a coil in the back and 64.7 HTA.... and it's my park bike too. :D
Hi, gentlemen! I have been learning so much about today's mtb world through your videos. Thank you. Question: where do "trail" bikes come in? Is it: trail, then enduro, then downhill orrrr enduro, then trail, and then downhill? (And I am looking for the toughest bike for extreme city riding, jumping off stuff n horrible roads in India). I'm leaning toward enduro. But what's trail, man? Thank you.
Im not sure if I should buy an an enduro or dh... I have a hardtail i use for easy and long tours But i have no bikepark in my near which means i have to paddle uphill
I like GMBN, but this video was non-sense. DH bike is for WC kind tracks, Enduro bike is for EWS kind tracks period. Take a Ferrary on offroad track or take a Hammer on a circuit. Which one is better? Ferrary or Hammer? Depends what you need it for... Big up for Blake, and that plank, priceless. I think he's not bullied, he is just a daredevil, who jumps high, does all kind tricks, very good allround rider. But I would see young Scotty to doo something funny like that, but I think he does not dare.
Downhill bikes are better for downhill, Enduro bikes are better for enduro. Boom. I blew everyone's mind. Problem solved. Your welcome. So as to which one you should buy, the answer is simple: both
100%
Which would cost around 10000$- 18000$ but that's all

Edit: well some people care more than others but I mean if you take it seriously
At 3:00 i think you messed up the times. Because 1,40 is faster than 1,45.
Might have been that the split time was faster but not faster in the total time
No, thats the overall time. The Downhiller had 1:40 overall but was slower in this split. The enduro was 1:45 overall time and 5 seconds slower than the downhiller because the downhiller was faster the 2 splits before, but still was slower in split 3.
I think they just tagged em wrong. Im confused. 😖
Alex939 not if you're counting down...
The time is total but color is indicator for the section time...
What's with the 3rd split? DH 1:40:44 (Red) End 1:45:45 (Green).
I think a simple plus or minus would have been clearer to show which section he was faster in.
The enduro bike time must of been 1:35:45 and was a typo
Its All DH from here it's from the last split to that one no the hole run
or they got the two times the wrong way around
Its All DH from here moo
This test also depends on the rider obviously
Ya
What made the difference ?
- Blake can manual
Hahahahaha :)
Pienimusta rip
PEDALING!!!!!
Savage!
Mä tykkään omenoista
This is like asking which is better between a knife and a spoon. Are you stabbing someone or eating some ice cream? It depends on the task at hand.
iainthavinthat 😂😂
"Cousin why a spoon, why not a knife?"
"Cause it's dull you twit, it'll hurt more!"
These kinda comparisons are popular for some reason.
Roger Neilson Prince of Thieves
"I'll cut your heart out with a spoon!"
"Why a spoon? Why not an axe, or a.."
"It's dull.. It'll hurt more!"
Think its way more interesting that he went with a full face on the dh bike and half lid with the enduro. Riding the same track but at higher speeds with a way less protecting helmet just becuase one has slightly more travel. Logical reasoning at its finest ;)

rear suspension of a DH bike can kick your butt into the air that is the reason you go fullface
If its properly set up and you're at least somewhat familiar with it then definitely no, thats not what a suspension is supposed to do.
Micheal Jackson that doesn't make sense. I hope that was your attempt at trolling?
Really liked the layout of the content. Making a bet on the pool added a bit of entertainment for me! lol blake is quickly becoming the funny guy with all the noises he makes in every video. at first it was bothering me but now its growing on me. great stuff guys
I am a beginner mountain biker and I'm learning a lot of skills from you
Gmbn is my favorite channel
Cool video, I learned a lot about the difference between Enduro and Downhill in this one...
If you are faster down a downhill track on an enduro bike, then you are not riding a real downhill track. No shit the enduro bike is going to be quicker when there is a large pedal section at the bottom of the track. Do the same test down MSA and look at the results.
Keillen Ross true dat
Fair point, maybe we'l have to go to both extremes! What about Champery?! or Fort William?! #retest
Scotty Laughland would be cool to see a test run on a WC track. Or even at Whistler down some Garbanzo tech trails... Maybe full lap of In Deep?
This is science at its finest. Exactly why UCI has banned Enduro bikes from competing in UCI DH events. ;)
Clearly 40mm less travel and an open face helmet is keeping Gwin from rainbow jersey.
What about mick hannah's sprint at the world champs this year?
3:42 that fall was glorius
Spoiler alert: the DH bike is faster on the downhills, and the Enduro is faster on the flats and climbs. Overall, it turns out your test track has more flats and climbs than descents.
This Scott DH bike has a hell of a lot of suspension pivots.... Why so complicated?
Anthony HT yea, also a dh bike resist really really big jumps, for that it have a double bridge on the fork
because it looks cool XD
+Scareface Visuals you mean a double crown fork? I would love to ride a DH bike but It would be too much trouble to get it to the mountains near me
It's a single pivot and leverage rate.
That splash was perfect 😂👏👏👌
This is a tough one! I would imagine this really would come down to the rider unless you were doing massive hits that required the extra travel of a DH bike. Regardless, another great video!
hahahaha Blakes Pink crocs are priceless!
Hod did you count? 3rd Split DH-01:40:44, ENDURO-01:45:45, and how you got 2 minutes in final results
Very thanks for polish captions❤
Blake, you make my day better
Best moment… Tipping Blake in the cold pool and watching him run out yelling like a girl!
❤️Blake!’s my favorite GMBN presenter.
if u need for riding on road and off road enduro is better?
Málaga, Spain 😍
something wrong with the times at 3:05 xD downhill 1.40.44 but is slower than 1.45.45 xD
Tails tm It's a split, so it had lost time to the enduro bike, but was still ahead slightly.
1:40 and 1:45 are the total time, but in that split the enduro was faster
Geeorge Simonson
Split 1: DH 2 seconds ahead
Split 2: DH still half a second ahead
Split 3: DH now 5 seconds ahead

I was talking a bout the fact that even tho the dh was ahead by 5 sec the time was red
anonimo2214
In that split the enduro was slower! look at the times
good job on providing splits.. like it.
Perfect! More of those please :)
I have a trek M5 hardtail and I literally treat that thing like a road bike, but i got it so I have something that can take a beating and is fast and fun
Scotty will win the internet one day. Most of his comparsion videos are like "I will make it look like I am the best of the best, even if the whole thing does not make any sense".
loving the new bloke. Blake brings some big laughs and has fitted right in to the crew.
Love the senary and the hole video so cool guys keep going !!
Downhill for daredevils, enduro for sane and brave.
Please also do one with a full sus XC bike (modern) vs down hill bike!
I think the more important question is that which bike and style of riding is more fun. At least that's what riding is about for me. Still a nice video, you both seem like fun guys and you are good at what you do.
Nice one, very entertaining as always!
Downhill Bike : 03:25:04
Enduro bike : 03:32:44
Blake was right, Scott adds this to the pedaling fiasco!
Ace video lads keep em coming!!
Yeeees waited soo long fot this ;-)
You can’t go wrong with an enduro bike. It can do downhill but also pedal.
Why not test on downhill track, without climb and flat... like UCI track, totaly rough and gravity...
So DH bikes have heavier burlier frames than enduro bikes? Do trail bikes have heavier frames than enduro bikes?
Excuse me, but i can't find track at 1:02 moment. Help me to find track, please!
Not sure whats worse, jumping into a freezing pool or being seen in bright bright pink crocs.
Crocs! no question
Can you make it trough redbull hardline on an enduro bike? and would it be close to the average time?
No, it won't be answered. If you take both to a "baby" track like this, sure the enduro can keep up. Take it to a real DH course, and the poor enduro bike is going to simply be slow, or you're going to lose control trying to keep up. Similarly, take a DH bike to an enduro or XC-based track, you're going to be dying trying to get it around the course.
Take it to Redbull Rampage, let me know how the enduro bike does.
What is really funny is that Scott has a Downhill Bike From SCOTT
Cool love these vids of you guy riding
Blakes run is like when you see a Middle Aged Man in Full Lycra at the trails, and you're just like,I'm outa here!😂😂
Was not a complete run from top to bottom, there is a camera on the Downhill bike 2:09, camera is missing at 2:25
at 3:05 the enduro bike is in green, implying that it was faster(time:1:45ish). so why was the downhill bikes time 1:40ish, but in red?
Please assist - which E-bike would be the best bearing the trademark Ecotron vs Prototype
Loving the pink crocs!
Please do an enduring vs trail bike I can only afford one and I need some help deciding !!
How Enduro bike was able to make up 12 secs in last 30secs Was the last section pure uphill?
Pink crocs? Nice fashion Blake!
they should do a video on how to reduce chain slap.
curious how the upper split times would compare with a 160mm 29er , and Enduro FTW!!
Blake has shown his true colours. what a champion. i'm so glad he joined the gmbn show.
what kind the best use in donwhill racing ...
and flat road and...??
Where are you riding in Malaga? I have a place down there but i don´t know of any good locations to ride.
Would be great if you linked it on Maps!
It's called Happy Days in Alhaurin!
When will do you do drunk balcony test with both bikes in Marbella, Málaga?
I've been looking for a minimalist one like that
Hahaha so funny :) love it. I just got a Giant Trance 3 for my birthday so I'm backing enduro lol
You guys got the times backwards. According to the splits the DH bike was faster with every sector.
DH wins everytime, but it didn't win 😂
Finaly got an add worth watching.
Those tracks were rided by same person or it was 2 different people?
Because i think that i woudl be better to get DH to ride on DH bike since both disciplines need different type of training to ride fast.
I found a 900 gambler but I have to pedal up most trails I go on. Should I get it and try to make it enduroable?
You really need a hardcore downhill track to use the DH bikes advantages. Enduro bikes are very capable.
Gmbn what's your personal opinion on the canyon that we see featured in so many of your videos
We love the Strive! Awesome bike :)
What bike stand were they using in the intro, I want to buy one now
yess I've been waiting for this video for a while haha
Blake it's my favourite already!
I like this style of video's
Nice video! What's the name of the song?
For some reason this just popped up on my feed. So here we are in 2021 and my enduro bike has 180/170mm travel, a coil in the back and 64.7 HTA.... and it's my park bike too. :D
3:06 but the downhill was faster?
wait what
your dh bike's weight is less than my superenduro's weight
Nice trails! Where is this?
Where are these traks guys? Alhaurín maybe?
@askgmbn how do I make my specialized enduro 29 more dh and bike park ready? I just started racing downhill
the trail is from the video seat high vs seat low isn't it
wich bikes did you use
maybe you could could write it down the info box in the future thanks :)
great Vid ? How tall are you? Thanks.

Nice trip!
Wait can you not adjust the seat position on a DH?
I think the times are the wrong way round in split 3 at 3:03
scotty was only faster on the enduro cuz he was PEDALING!!!!
Fran Rod this pun will never die
they should make some PEDALING!!! shirts. I would definitely buy it!
Adrian Lucio same😂😂
blake was also pedaling so
What part of malaga is it is?
Im not sure if I should buy an an enduro or dh...
I have a hardtail i use for easy and long tours
But i have no bikepark in my near which means i have to paddle uphill
Then enduro for sure :)
Downhill vs Enduro*
eh still going for downhill
Clorox Bleach same
And it took long for someone to reply
Thank you Taq for replying
Clorox Bleach fake bitch
Domestone Bleach your wrong I'm a sexy bitch
Na your the ugly 1 bro even the family said so
Sick editing cut at 2:54
so add a bigger cass and dropper to a dh bike, then which of the 2?
yes then dh bike will win
I like GMBN, but this video was non-sense. DH bike is for WC kind tracks, Enduro bike is for EWS kind tracks period.

Did you see the one where Blake does a straight somersault on a fatbike?! That impressed me.
The scott gambler is perfect for climbing too
What was the sound around about 2.10 ?
HEY GMBN CAN YOU DO SOME MORE VIDEOS ON XC PLEASE
So gnarley. Blake won in my book!
Where is it? Please respond, is it Malaga in spain? and if it is where exactly is it?
It's the Sram test track in the hills by Malaga!
