@@icewallowcum856 I think it would be interesting to find out how a XC would differ to a similar travel trail bike, what use cases each one would be best in
@@MaxMustermannnnnn bro some year ago, I used to have a trail and a xc bike. Then I sold the xc for a dh and the trail for an enduro. Yeah the enduro can do both but It's like a group A rally car compared to the dh that could be a group B rig! And riding the dh it's always a blast, I only focus on going fast without caring about components abuse. Then I feel like I can last more laps a day in bike parks My 2 cents 👍🏻
I love xc hardtails. Getting into the sport, just climbed my first 1500m mountain on my new orbea alma hardtail. Coming from E-Bikes and finally felt fit enough to make the switch to go leg powered.
That DH bike was way too much bike for those trails. I’m not sure I’d bring my 160mm enduro bike there. But a long travel hardtail or a trail bike, that sounds fun.
Trail/Enduro bike is king if you want to go everywhere, might not be as fast as xc up or DH down rough stuff but does both well enough that you can go on big all day rides and hit gnarly trails and have load of fun on them
I remember riding DH on one of the best bikes you could get. My bike was loaded, top quality, had the best gear. Four foot pipe with the orange flag, passenger back rest, chain guard, pedal brakes, finger reach bell, high rise handle bars, custom kick stand and the yellow pin stripe. All us kids in the neighborhood would hit the trails crushing our nads while flying off the sickest jumps that we built. Plus, we could buy all the candy we wanted and carry it back in out baskets after a long day of riding. XC and DH bikes got nothing compared to our rides.
This is just the video I needed to push myself and build confidence on my giant fathom 2 xc bike with only 100mm of travel just shows its the rider not the bike thanks GMBN.👍
Not long upgraded from a fathom! Was really good fun, but after a week of black trails, she was tapping out. Rattling forks and a dinged back wheel. Giant Reign now, felt way slower to start with, so soft. Thing is part of me now, love it
I wouldn’t mind seeing some more full sus xc bikes. A lot of them are hard tails these days it seems. I know there’s plenty of FS XC around, but most people I’ve met just go for an enduro bike when they finally decide to pay for FS.
I love my Enduro because it takes the best of both types and it fits me perfectly. And to add to that it doesn't matter what is better it is what works best for you.
At my age, "brave" can become foolish. I'm enjoying my hardtail XC now that I"m over 55. When I first rode, in 1990, I knew one guy who had a Rockshox, that was it. Love my Trek Procaliber. I have the AL version, but nothing is original. It is all XT 1x12, Rockshox Sid, SLX brakes and other good stuff. Tons of super light fun. Trail vs XC is a good comparison. I can tell you how it will turn out. I went out with some guys about a year ago. Good riders, but all in somewhat similar condition. The trail we took overall goes up, then goes back down. On the way up, I was waiting for them. On the way back down, they were waiting for me. Overall, I prefer the hardtail though. I find the light weight and simplicity inspiring.
Having been riding a Stinky over half my life, I simply can't get used to modern geometry or XC bikes. You just can't manipulate them enough for my liking. That's why I bought another old Kona for my hardtail. Something with slack geometry but capable of high seat is spot on for me! Also, Blake is sooo fluid on the nukeproof. That is how you ride a bike!

I've been owning a downhill bike for a few months now and thanks to your video I've just understood why I felt like I was very slow on flat or uphill roads compared to my friends who own Cross Country bikes.
"The right job is looking for the right tool" Serious DH track couldn't be ridden with XC bike. Simply it's not safe- nor for rider, nor for bike. Same time You couldn't go with us on XC ride with DH bike- to heavy and not efficient on flat terain or uphill. Actually there's noting to argue after you read my 1st sentence;-)
I relate to this video, especially because I always ride my XC bike when riding with my friends... oh wait, I only have an XC bike (they tend to be the least expensive ones).
That pretty much depends what is expensive to u.. nice xc's starts from 2600 euro... The ones whit u can compete as an equally whit others in xc happenings and races.
Its shame that nuke proof has guides they are worse brakes ever cheap and overheat the pistons Stick in the callipers definitely should upgrade to hopes v4 for that bike!

His posture on the XC bike wasn't far enough back. He's was laying on that front wheel in almost every shot. I bet it felt sketchy as hell. Lol
Heck yeah,

This is a perfect example of it’s not the bike it’s the rider. Rich looked sick on that tech despite being on a completely wrong bike for the job
Big Stan thanks man much appreciated
Nah it was fine bike. The extra challenge makes it more fun.
To true but stick another 40-60mm travel on the front and that thing would of sent it even better on the rough stuff. Rear shocks are over rated.
Hate to say it but that's a green trail where I live lol
Trail Vs XC would be a good comparison
Oh yeah!!!
its almost the same
@@icewallowcum856 I think it would be interesting to find out how a XC would differ to a similar travel trail bike, what use cases each one would be best in
Only difference is 20-30mm of suspension and few degrees in head angle. XC bike might be a bit lighter.
@@Pienimusta don't forget about the sides of the tires. Xc tires are thinner on the sides. Lil bit less agressive frame angle too

A most entertaining film. The chemistry between Blake and Rich is perfect. More, please.
The way Blake pops those manuals is so good, its so annoying. I can't hold my front wheel up for more than 2 seconds

You should make XC full sus vs short travel trail 29 full sus, I think its very very interesting comparision!!
