I have been a planty person for over 40+ years and I've had all kinds of plants. I love the so-called "classic" plants over any others. I love easy and low maintenance now. I'm in my happy place with my plants and I love them all. Most I have had over 20+ years now :))
to my understanding, the florida green is a hybrid of pedatum & squamiferum, and the florida ghost and florida beauty are both cultivars of the florida green :)
I have a mixed pot of Krimson Queen and Princess and love the look of it! It’s still very tiny as I just made it but I’m sure it’ll grow in beautifully
Hi Emma, I feel it's alright to swap/give away plants that you have outgrown your love for. This hobby/love/obsession is supposed to bring joy to us and the plants and if it isn't' being responsible for rehoming them sounds like a good plan. It certainly doesn't make you a bad person or a bad plant parent!! Just my two cents. I recently gave a friend my Philodendron Brandy because it wasn't making me happy to care for her (totally not the plants fault) Happy Spring and Happy Growing to everyone!!
I’ve slowly been moving plants onto my kitchen table that I’m thinking of parting with, just not loving them and would rather they go to a home that would appreciate them. So far haven’t removed anything off the table which is surprising haha
I just started collecting more and more plants and I just bought some this weekend and already. I don’t love them and it’s too much stress. I don’t feel so bad now that he posted this video. Sometimes it happens.
I’ve gotten rid of so many plants over the years. It’s a constant battle to curate a collection I’m happy with. Some of my plants I’ve loved for a long time now (cebu blue, dischidia ovata, philodendron red emerald) and others are new loves (all things anthurium) but there’s definitely plants I used to love that I just don’t feel love for anymore. I just gave my camposportoanum to my mom because I just didn’t care about it anymore. Once upon a time my syngonium albo was my favorite plant and now I just don’t care that much for it. Can’t bring myself to get rid of it though. 😂 I even bought a ruby ficus at the beginning of the year and even though I’ve wanted it for years, now that I have it I don’t love it. 🤷♀️
it's one of those things that's sometimes tough to know if you'll long term love a plant before you care for it. Of course we can make educated guesses about it but sometimes some plants just don't fit into our lives the way we were hoping they would!
I go by this… I no longer buy the ABC’s Alocasia Begonia Calathea Dieffenbachia Ferns Then there’s the syngonium and peace lily & any water loving plants!
I've purged so many plants. Most of them I chuck in to the bin, or neglect them to death from depression. I have enough plants now. I've even made my own cactus seeds. My mental health is more important than plants.
I'm trying so hard to rescue my cebu! She was looking a bit leggy in some areas so I took a bunch of cuttings and rooted them in sphagnum moss for several months. The roots were ready with very long roots....AT LEAST I THOUGHT THEY WERE READY! I added the rooted cuttings to the mother plant and they all rotted causing the mother plant to rot. She's in rehab and looking mighty rough. 😅
I am having the same issue with mine. It was growing amazingly well then it got leggy so I tried to chop and prop. Now it's vacationing in the struggle hotel.
Regarding the variegated sodoroi... I was thinking what if you were to sacrifice another plant, break a leaf of each plant and touch sodoroi fluids to onto an open wound of the sacrificed plant and see if it gets a virus 🤷 since you have a pile of plants your getting rid of anyways?
I think I’m just not the biggest fan of how they grow in my care, not sure I have the right environment 🤷🏻♀️ also their thin leaves are super pest prone in my experience and I cba to deal with that all the time
Kinda jealous of zz, as Ive purchased small one with 3 stems but unfortunately I got one with pest. I tried to save, now only 1 stem😊 Though, I have zz raven bought which is huge, thriving and stunning, still I have hope for my green one hehe Red maranta is almost out, I just put in the jar with water. All plants that doesn't look good or almost dying, I placed outside with shade (as long no frost), and eventually they are thriving and some I placed back inside. I think the condition inside isn't best for them esp if still not established plant. Kudos to you, do what u feel make u happy and for sure those plants will go somewhere great
damn i love my ghost and i'd never get rid of it. that thing looks like you should prop it though :) they never lose their white new leaves. they just come out green more often when they have less access to bright light. even if you sit it right in a bright window, the new leaves should come out more white. I think Keylee Ellen has a video on this problem specifically.
I have to get rid of my Philodendron Bob Cee...it's the only plant I have to battle for pests. It's killing me as I purchased it 2 years ago at the height of the price. I will try, one more time, to thoroughly clean and treat this plant, but then I'm done. PS: compared to what I have in my collection, this plant is underwhelming. Thanks for justifying that we don't need to keep ALL of the plants!
You’re quick witted, “Cleo said, that’s my favorite plant.” I think Cleo’s fav was the dark lord🐾🌱🤣. Get rid of whatever you like or rather don’t like👍🏽
In the same urge mood. If it disappeared, abducted by aliens, would I notice or care? Would I go get another one? Pass them on.... am also so over syngoniums! Big fan from very far north Minnesota.
Hello!! I really need help. Im a beginner plant person (im only 14 so on a budget..-) any tips? I dont have many now, but ive had cacti for about two years. Not dead yet!! I love plants and seeds and insects. So any tips?
Time to visit aunts, uncles, grandparents with some scissors, and ask permission to take cuttings for propagating, same goes with classmates-ask their parents first; checking out sad plant clearance area in big box stores can get you some great plants and pots real cheap.Happy hunting!
Welcome to the best hobby! I defo agree with Marlo about getting cuttings from family & friends! My other advice is experiment and enjoy the process! Not everything will work for you and failure (plant death) is part of the process!
Hey, if we can't be assertive and set boundaries with our plants that literally don't have feelings or opinions, how can we with other people? I really want a Dark Lord, but yours is pretty awkward, to be honest. 😂

Oh wow I hope that’s me in 40 years! I’m defo a fan of a lot of classics too, especially low maintenance ones!
I agree!!! I’ve had plants most of my life and 63 now 😂
Give me a classic anyway!!! I still love them
It’s ok to buy new plants and give your older ones away. Don’t feel bad. I’m sure you will find a beautiful new home for your old plants. 🤞🏽🍀💗
The tiny 🐾 coming from the bottom of the screen. I love it

🎉 great job purging what doesn't bring you joy! I need to follow your leed!!!
Honestly I feel so much better knowing a lot of these plants are already going to better homes!
I have a mixed pot of Krimson Queen and Princess and love the look of it! It’s still very tiny as I just made it but I’m sure it’ll grow in beautifully

Glad to hear I’m not alone!
1 in 1 out - I'll believe it when I see it 😂😂 but totally understand
haha I know it doesn't really seem doable does it 😅
I just started collecting more and more plants and I just bought some this weekend and already. I don’t love them and it’s too much stress. I don’t feel so bad now that he posted this video. Sometimes it happens.
The best advice I ever got was "start collecting slowly." Making careful, deliberate decisions has been the way to go ... for me.
You are doing …. What you need to do. You are “growing as plant parent” and growing means keep the ones that you love and give away others.
Thanks! I appreciate the support!

It happens to us all!

I had a Florida ghost that did that too and I finally sold it a couple weeks ago 😂 It feels so good 👌👌
I’m so ready for mine to be gone 😅
If it doesn’t work for you that’s ok! Gift it or trade it 💜
Im getting rid of a few plants as well. just ones that i dont really love anymore.
It’s the best way to be imo!

Me three!! Why do they do this to us 😂
Oh no!
My babies are my philo verrucosum, fuzzy petiole and micans. All the other 30+ plants I own, I wouldn’t necessarily be sad if they died 😭
oooh thansk!
Haha I suppose I could but I’ll let my friend do that 😂
Oh girl I feel ya!!
What are syngonium like? Is it just that specific one you don't enjoy?
I think I’m just not the biggest fan of how they grow in my care, not sure I have the right environment 🤷🏻♀️ also their thin leaves are super pest prone in my experience and I cba to deal with that all the time

Yeah zz’s can be so slow growing sometimes, glad to hear your raven is doing well though! I honestly much prefer ot
Oof. I am also a Cebu blue lover. And I continue to struggle with them. So now I enjoy it from afar!
Oh no! What’s the struggle?

Ooh good to know! I’ll keep that up for my nicer one! Thanks

Ugh yeah if it's causing that much stress it's not worth it!
@@GoodGrowing got rid of it today! No more stress!
Philodendron florida (or florida green) is a hybrid of P. Pedatum x Squamiferum so different plant but very similar.
You’re quick witted, “Cleo said, that’s my favorite plant.” I think Cleo’s fav was the dark lord🐾🌱🤣. Get rid of whatever you like or rather don’t like👍🏽
Haha yeah she does form interesting attachments
Nice got a couple to I've fallen out of love with. Xx
I'm with you on the Syngonium Neon Robusta! What's up with those leaves that won't unfurl? 😖🙅♀
Yeah they’re just weird! Not my vibe!
Your cat is so cute!
Isn’t she just!
Naughty Kitty - I love it.
I threw away an anthirium, a reverted pink princess and some ivy because they were all just making me so sad try to care for them.
Sometimes it’s gotta be done!
In the same urge mood. If it disappeared, abducted by aliens, would I notice or care? Would I go get another one? Pass them on.... am also so over syngoniums! Big fan from very far north Minnesota.
Hahaha I defo hope some get abducted 😂
You are the realest. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Omg I got rid off reverted syngonium last week too 😂 that sodoroi juicy 🥰

Love a good purge.
So satisfying huh!
Literally gave away a syngonium yesterday… lol
I'd do anyyyyything for cebu blue. Its always sold out here :(
Awww! I’m assuming you’re not UK based?
So not feeling my birkin or my scindapsus exotica.
Ooh yeah I ditched my birkin a while back and so glad I did!
Hoyas take at least a year in pon to get going .... if you're selling the krimson queen I would consider buying off ya. Uk.
I've had this one for ages and I'm just really not loving it like I do my other ones. Shoot me a message on IG if you fancy it x
Pfff, and me who search since months desperately Dark Lord... Sniffff!
I’d be more than happy to take the awkward dark Lord! 🤦🏻♀️😂
I actually just gave it to a friend! Sorry!

it's sooo awkward isn't it!!
Hope you develop your green thumb soon!
There’s no such thing as a variegated philodendron sodiroi. It always goes south. 🫣
