The way Larva plays is amazing (in my opinion at least), and I haven't gotten to see a game with him in a while now. Thank you Falcon and RJB for the cool games/replays
Man, I love Larva games. He makes the enemy always looking like Leonidas and the other overly masculine sixpackguys from Sparta with his macro flooding
Now that, was Zerg. Zerglings swarming, Devourer's devouring, Defilers Defiling, and an endless number thrown into the meat grinder. Protoss could only dream of those numbers while their pitiful Golden Armada burns! *Cackles in Zerg Supremacy*
Wow, Larva is such a great Zerg player. Always a pleasure to watch Zerg take down Protoss. Snow really should not have gone carrier, plague is so effective on it. Only way could have had a chance is making reavers like F.P said. Epic Match. 👏👏
this was so much fun! constant engagement but without the relentless grind the longer matches can develop as the games progress and players get more and more resource-strapped. great cast!
I only watch the occassional SC game, so I really appreciate that give out the epic tag selectively so I know which games are most worth my time. Your game pickers do a good job and you have good taste!

No spoilers ahead: This game is worth it for the first 6 minutes alone...But this is just...so good. SO GOOD. By far my favorite Z v P. The one upsman-ship that goes on between these two pros is amazing. Each player continuing to adapt to the other's strategy and units. Incredible.
Notice how Snow gives the illusion that he can be busted early while expanding and increasing probe count! This makes Zerg delay tech and drones to try and bust and that's how Snow never gets Hydra busted!!! The man is a GENIUS !!! Do you really believe that he couldn't wall off if he wanted to??? He let's the zerglings in on purpose!!!
This might be one of the only matchups in which the greater spire can be effective. Devourers trade well against carriers and BC if they are supported.
!!SPOILER!! ------------------------ Game was over after Snow forgot storm, he was already in a bad spot after his 7 zealots didn't get damage. After that it was just played for fun IMO, already having been over, which is why we saw all the silliness like mass lings into storm and devourers.
Larva just wow. that felt like how zerg should be played. not using lurkers as siege tanks, not using defilers as templars. just greed across the map and mass units into everything that the enemy doesnt have time to think.
I think he did it intentionally. Z constantly attracts the P troops and traps them at home. Z have an additional base. As long as Z persist, Z will win.
@AG TaNGrA so you can just throw units at your opponent with little to no micro and still are guaranteed to win just because you grabbed more bases? Thats really stupid, I am glad SC2 does not have such broken mechanics. No wonder Broodwar is nowhere nearly as popular as SC2.
I think Soulky is by far the best zerg player. His ling control from his last game against I forget who played against now. But man it was an epic game by far.
If you let the cracklings gather before they attack they can Take down 4 cannons rather than letting them trickle in one by one and getting nothing done...
probably best match i've seen recently. forgetting storm set the protoss player back but it was not game ending. forgetting disruption web late game was more costly, especially when sitting on 4k minerals and gas. He needed to push with carriers, dragons, and corsairs. Disruption web would have forced hydras to micro away, it is similar to how forcefield works in SC2. This counters plague and forces mass scourge to run through a gauntlet of dragoon fire to get to the carriers. also, the high templars kept him in the game with good storm placement but late game they were less useful after he transitioned to carriers. You have to take out zerg bases and HT are not good on offense. You can see how easily the mutas picked them off, and his army was constantly slowing down to wait for HT to catch up, giving zerg time to macro and overwhelm. zerg player was not perfect but didn't need to be. He basically sent lings and lurkers on move command across the map into cannons, not even bothering to burrow lurkers half the time. But the sheer numbers from his 9-10 bases was overwhelming and the transition from hydra ling to defiler ultra was key, it threw off the protoss player. Then the final muta to devourers transition was the nail in the coffin. Overall zerg dictated the protoss tactics the whole game, and out-macro'd the protoss player.
Former Code S player here: I have career wins over G5 and Gretorp, for example: this is dumb. Carriers is the WORST thing you can build against Zerg. Hydras plus defiler beats them. Scourge beats them. Devourer beats them.
I wish Terran bio did better in TvP. It'd be nice to see more than mech every now and then. TvZ, similarly to PvZ, is my favorite matchup because of the potential variety of plays.
I don't understand the part where Snow ran his zealots around, abandoning his High Templars only for them to be picked off by the Zerg army in the open.
Zerg will always be supreme in late game, unless the opponent can gain a significant early to mid game advantage. Be it Protoss or Terran, nothing can stop the swarm if it's not done early enough.
There are some freaky , odd creeps coming out in the end of this video. He calls them Devourers but I have never seen nor created one, I play the Vanilla Starcraft and sometimes Broodwar. They shoot out a purple goo that I don’t think I will ever see again. At first it seemed like doctored footage of a mutalisk mod.
I don' know how I came across this video but it's awesome thanks!. I miss the old Star craft games, is it possible to play this game online?. I'm sorry to ask but I stopped the world of videogames more than 15 years ago.
Yes! You can play online on Battle.net! Just launch Brood War, choose Multiplayer, and Battle.net. The US West server and the Korea servers are the most populated with players. :)
37:36 I'm not a pro... but cannons, zealots, and HTs at base for defense and reavers, HTs zealots and disruption web corsairs for offense... Mix in archons when energy runs outs... and IMO with storm, reavers, archons and corsairs I feel like zerg should lose to protoss 100%. Given equal skill.
So protoss doesn't really have many good siege units and carriers are definitely the "best" siege units of protoss arsenal but absolutely not recommended vs zerg. Reavers 100% better option against anything that zerg may do. So I'm pretty sure Sn0w was just trolling.
Gotta use hallucination spell with the high templars if you are going carrier vs zerg. Can force a ton of wasted scourge at that point draining the zerg player of gas..but the problem here is that he let his zerg opponent get way too many bases, really no way to beat a top zerg player that has 9 bases it won't matter what you try.
At the pro level, larva is not good enough. I'm not saying that I can do better, but larva is a pro player but makes too many mistakes for a pro league and completely don't use the full Zerg potential. But Interestingly, Larva started to play much better towards the end of the game. He began to apply more unit control, he wasn't letting his army die so lightly. So an interesting game, but I still think Larva can get more potential from Zerg than he is currently achieving.
This replay is from late 2018. Larva grew significantly in 2019-2021 until he got 4th place in ASL10 and then won ASL11 making him the world champion. He retired after that in August 2021.
@@RJB_TV Ahem. Interesting. Yes, I watched Larva games from 2010-2012. Crazy game! I think Snow could've won it if he invested more into Carriers. 8-10 of them are much more powerful than just 6. Larva, however, was very good at countering, his economy was crazily excessive.
Fun to watch - sure, effective - meh All those resources wasted for the Carriers just in Reavers - easy game, especially how much was wasted - it was not 2-3 reavers, 10+ easy, possible even 20, and zerg would be just rekt
Defilers are spellcasters whereas corsairs do have a basic attack wich makes often unavailable to be played with the ground army to cast disruption webs.
disruptions webs are almost useless because corsairs become more or less obsolete at some point. The gas that would beyond a point go into corsairs is always better spent as a high templar or reaver. Dark swarm is also a way better spell than disruption web. Disruption web is very easy to play around because the zerg just steps out of it. Corsairs unlike Defilers don't have consume, making the spell very very weak in comparison because there's a long energy regen timer on it.
@@TheFlyingZulu Yeah but I mean you can send them where your ground army is not and disruption web also affects your units, so, not, a good spell but not so useful.
