99% of the time they start freezing up because of a defective drain guide. that goes from the bottom of the defrosting cool down into the drain inside refrigerator, take the back cover off at the very bottom of the back of the refrigerator and you'll see two drain lines right side is for the refrigerator the left is for the freezer drain they are white or light gray tubes, poor a small amount of warm water down the drain under the element in side of the refrigerator and see if it drains, then check then check the tubes under it and look for blockage it's best to pull them off and change them or just try cleaning them, this method solved my problem my bottom drain tube was blocked, took off and cleaned problem solved.
My Samsung is a different model but the coils look just like yours and it ices up in the same place and has ever since it was new. Samsung owes us all some compensation! I've tried all the same insulating tricks you had tried in the past - never worked for me either. I'll have to try that defrost extension/booster so I will defrost that upper section where the ice builds up first.
I am wondering if the circulation fan is doing an adequate job on these Samsung refers. I am going to remove the drain tubes at the bottom rear of the refer and make sure they are clear. If the water from the defrost cycle is not draining obviously that will cause the ice to build up.
Grp vid , my 8 year old Samsung . I know on life support for a Samsung. Just started freezing up . I cleared it once and seal things up and 1 month later it froze up again. Now it will not get colder than 47F if I have the back cover on. If I don’t it actually cools Good idea on the second thermometer
A couple of reviews on Amazon said it did nothing and actually made the ice build up worse. It would be nice if Craig would follow up with how his responded?
What worked for me was not setting the fridge temperature all the way down to 34 degrees. Water freezes at 34 degrees. Set it at 35 or anything else but don’t set it at 34.
Low voltage feeding house can cause the device to frost up. Defrost heater is sized to work at nominal voltage, but when it drops to under 100V it will not heat sufficiently. Same principle as when gas oven igniter won’t heat up sufficiently to trip pilot lite. Hear on cape Cod we have lousy power
Agreed, please don't pay Samsung appliance period. All 6 of them had issues at our home ( microwave, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer)... ohhh yeah, fridge too.
I found a wifi plug that i programmed to turn the refrigerator completely off for 2.5 hours every night. This allows for sufficient thaw of the coil around the fan each day. Perfectly quiet since then.
Hey man , i was trying to fix this, but the bottom center screw of the panel is not opening. It’s just keeps rotating. Please help me, what should i do?
Hi, will this mod work on a UK 220volt samsung fridge freezer..same as yours in pic. basically, can i use 220v ? can’t find anything as simple AS THIS IN england ?
I have this frig. I see lots a fixes to add an additional heater, but my frig is six (6) old and has worked well for this interval. Question: What has changed that causes the frost / ice build up? Thanks
no your wrong. I have a samsung. had it 13 years. 99% of the time its plugged up from behind. not enough air flow over those coils is the MAIN issue. just vacuum the back once every year. A tech will come in and throw a bunch of money at it and it was just the intake air vent from behind the unit.
I have one of these refrigerators. The ice maker keeps quitting , thaw it with hair dryer many times , that usually gets it going, but now it just doesn't work. These refrigerators are pure garbage. Will never ever buy samsung again.
I’m 82 yo widow. I did it myself and it’s working great now!! C. Easler
As a 52 year old widow I am proud of you. As soon as my refrigerator part is delivered tomorrow I too will bask in the DIY glory along side you! ⚔️
For as much as these refrigerators cost, it’s ridiculous to have to go through this.

Will try your method today. Mine is doing exactly what this one did. Samsung is garbage
Craig, I really appreciate you making this video. It helps me understand what's been going wrong with my Samsung refer. Thank you, sir!

Best step-by-step video to fix this problem. Thank you

I'm having the same problem with my refrigerator. I see you posted this 2 years ago, just wondering if this solved your problem. Thanks!
Thanks man! Couldn't find a proper manual to figure this out.
craig please tell me --did this defrost heater booster work?? I have not been able to find a video after this one. Thank you so much
It didn't work for me

Just did this today and installed the booster. Hopefully it fixes the issue permanently. This is the 2nd or 3rd time it’s happened with my Samsung.
Sooooo does the fridge still run after you installed the part? Having trouble with our fridge now

This is kinda useless without an update as to whether it worked or not!

Yo Mr Greg,,,,,,did it work??????
I have one and never ever will I buy Samsung again . Does the same thing .

Great idea if you want your food to go bad.
How did it work ?
No need to disassemble everything. You just need a hair dryer and point it on the vents or holes. I did mine for about 20 mins, 5 mins each vents.
Hi! Do you have the update video About the defrost booster? Did it work?
I’m a single mother and this some bullshit. Never again am I buying a Samsung.
Craig, are you single? Lol Jk thanks for the video.
For some reason, your video kept showing reversed that is the ice maker was on the right side and the twin cooling was backwards at different times
Hey man , i was trying to fix this, but the bottom center screw of the panel is not opening. It’s just keeps rotating. Please help me, what should i do?
Splice in a flex heater for top lines

Thanks

How long u thaw it for??
Did it work buddy?
hey Craig, camera work could be a little better. but thanks
Did it work?

But they were working fine for years…what’s the actual part that is failing doing its job?
Maybe the defrost termination sensor? Clog drain?
Did it work for you
I am interested too.
