This fridge it the bane of my existence! I have searched for so long for ways to do this w/o having to take it apart. I’ve called Samsung and they charge out the backside for someone to come out. My warranty has expired so of course it;s going to cost more! UGH! I’m going to buy a new fridge with I can afford it but it’s on the bottom of the list at this time due to more pricey items that need to be done before winter. TY for your video this is going to be SO helpful even if it’s inconvenient every 4 months.
I'm sorry to hear that you're also having problems with this refrigerator and I hope you get a new one soon. Thinks got worse before they got better after posting this video and I finally broke down and bought a new GE fridge from a nearby outlet that sells "scratch & dent" appliances. The funny thing is that Costco had the nearly the exact same deal! The GE is almost identical to the Samsung when it comes to looks, features (NO Icemaker in the door) and interior space, but it doesn't freeze up on me, thank God! I'm having a hard time remembering what I paid, but it was less than the $1,400 I originally paid for the Samsung. I plan to post a conclusion video at some point because this video has really picked up a lot of views. Thanks for watching!
I had this issue with my Samsung fridge. The fridge wasnt cooling anymore as it should. I noticed the holes in the back panel had ice in it and it wasnt allowing the cool air to circulate. Based on your video i tried this blow dryer trick and it thankfully worked! I appreciate the info. My next fridge will definitely not be a Samsung. They need to stick to televisions. *****UPDATE ****** This trick only temporarily helped me. A week later it was frozen again. This time I ordered the thermistor that your commenters suggested be replaced and so far it seems to be ok. I will be back with another update as soon as I can secure this victory over my fridge.
I hope this method works for you longer than it did for us. I kept doing that trick but we finally decided to replace the refrigerator. Unfortunately, we had to replace our Samsung TV with an LG. Once we replace the microwave, the range and the dishwasher, we will be Samsung free.
My guy, replace the Thermistor! I was having to do the same thing every 6 months. After putting in the part I've had zero problems in almost 2 years. It's between $10 and $15 bucks on Amzon.
I’m able to pull mine apart and thaw it out in about 30 minutes. But the styrofoam has broken off one of the corners. I feel like it’s a faulty seal that lets the fridge suck in outside air.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I never that about it being like a faulty seal! I went through the same thing with the styrofoam, among other issues and ultimately ended up replacing this Samsung with a GE. We still have 3 more Samsung appliances to replace (range, dishwasher and microwave) with GE or Whirlpool and don't plan on going back.
I've done this 5 times. The Styrofoam insulation is all torn up from the ice. I'm done. Ordered a new GE today. Looking at comments from repair guys. Samsung is the worst followed by LG
I went through the same thing and ended up ordering a GE too! Life just got in the way after that and I didn't think anyone cared until recently. I've been sitting on a the follow-up video for way too long.
It took me about 1.5 hours to melt the ice to remove the cover just to find more ice so it took me a total of 3 hours from start to finish including cleaning the entire interior of the fridge

This is a really informative video! Thanks for posting it!!
You're welcome! Appreciate your words!

I wish I had tried this but we had to move on. The new GE we replaced it with makes a lot of weird noises, so we'll see how it goes...
@@j2review The new stuff they make today is such crap! Good luck too you.
Maybe I'm a few years behind on technology with refrigerators but what the hell is a thermistor?

Same, no more Samskum products in my house.
Using a blow dryer is not recommended it ruins the Styrofoam. What needed to be done was add a secondary defrost heater line.
It comes back within a week and a half,,
Yes, it does. Seems to get worse the more you thaw it out, so I just replaced the refrigerator. No more Samsung for me.

I'm sorry to hear this! I've been working on a follow-up video to post about my decision to replace this refrigerator and our other Samsung products.
I broke my Styrofoam....I may need to buy another refrigerator 🤦🏽♂️
Sorry to hear this! I had to replace mine too.
You can replace the inverter panel. You don't have to replace the fridge. Check for the part online - looks like it's not too expensive.
