karla alvarez Girl, dont use hand sanitizer it dries your skin so much and the itching gets way worse!! Use cortizone it helps a lot with the burning and itching feeling. I have it on my hands and arms 😭 Eucerin for eczema helps me a lot as well
Had this on my feet amd hands as a kid until my mom took me to a dermatologist/allergist. He was amazing. He called it eczema. I also had eczema on my face, legs and arms. I was about 12 years old when we got it under control. He did the patch test on my back. He took tomatoes and all citrus fruit and all milk products from me. He put me on allergy meds because i was allergic to all the trees and grasses. I had to use cortisone cream and Euceren cream with white cotton gloves every night. I had to only use 100% white socks with foot powder in them. Mom had to wash my clothes in fragrance free detergents. It all worked.I still care for it the same way today. I am now 52. He told my mom I had a chance of getting arthritis when i was older. I was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis 5 years ago. But my rashes are under control. Ceravé cream in the tub is my best friend and I have always used white gloves at night. 😍
Although you are writing about your medical condition but I'm reading a mini story of your life and how subconsciously you are grateful for the Dr and your mother. Much reminiscences in between the lines 💐
I just developed this right after everything shut down for Covid. I have to return to work next week (summer camp working with kids) where we’ll have to constantly be washing hands, cleaning and disinfecting everything. I have the option to wear gloves but of course the issue of sweating. I’m watching this video literally crying because I am so beyond frustrated right now trying to get this under control.
omgosh, I have this!! :0 Thank you so much for doing a video about this! I do wash dishes by hand at home, sometimes I use nitrile gloves, but now I will be using them *always* :)
I wash my hands with hot water and baking soda, I also put a half teaspoon in my coffee, yes I drink it but no more bubbles or breakouts and bye bye steroids. Try it for 2 weeks and thank me later
@@thequeen1399 In beginning I washed several times a day, my hands where really bad and took couple months but saw improvement so kept going and now 99.9% clear and now forget but once I see little flare will do start again, usually slight itch will start. Though painful cause most my palms where peeling I even soaked in hot water mixed too, hope it helps because I suffered for 3 years and was told be a lifetime problem
@@honghong3153 soaking in lime juice for an hour? I hope you are joking. If you soak ur skin in lime juice for an hour that too with eczema, you would need to go to emergency
Just to backpack on this advice, here's my regimen when my dsyhdrotic eczema is really bad: - Cerave Moisturizing Cream - Aveeno Eczema Relief Balm - Vanicream Ointment - Cotton/Nylon gloves (The reason why I don't do 100% Cotton is that they will shrink to half their size in the wash. Have had no problems with this hybrid of Cotton/Nylon) Repeat after every time you wash your hands. It's excessive but it works!
29 years in this World and I have just developed this condition. Everything you mentioned as a trigger has been present in the last month or so. I had no idea I was creating the perfect environment for a flare up. Thanks so much for this video!
This video was sent from Heaven. Thank you, Dr. Dray, so much. I have had this issue for a few years now, and suffered severely during my last pregnancy (ie. there were days where I literally couldn’t use my hands for anything). It is so validating to hear you describe how INCREDIBLY itchy it is, and so encouraging to hear all these amazing tips! My own dermatologist gave me a steroid ointment that definitely helped to a degree, but all these other tips are what I really need to get ahead of it!
Yes, so helpful that you made this video Dr Dray. It feels like no one understands this condition but you described it perfectly. I developed mine 6 weeks after having my child and working at a nursing home. I feel that the constant sweating in gloves while cleaning patients along with the constant hand washing we do around newborns , plus the stress of work and being a first time mom, was a perfect storm for me to develop it. I've never had any skin issues in my life and now I'm afraid that I will pass this condition on to my future children. I will be trying cerave. Off note, I have been using a advanced pro retinol at night and I developed one pimple that turned black as it healed. Should I then stay away from retinols in total? I have been using sunscreen of 50 spf.
Same. Mine has been here for 2 years; I was using pure acetone to clean my nail art supplies and it started the eczema. It won't go away. I've had so many steroids. Vaseline & gloves at night can help, but the cracking on my fingertips is excrutiating. I will try some of these tips.
I've been dealing with this crap for nearly 12 years. I cried when I found out what it ACTUALLY was, after so many years of doctors, slimy creams (which I hated as a kid) and itching
I found what worked for me in getting rid of my dyshidrosis on my hands was to wear medical exam gloves for any activity that I suspected may have been causing the condition. For example, whenever I exercise, prepare food, do housework, work outdoors, use tools, use hair care products, brush/floss my teeth, am around pets, etc., I wear a pair of these gloves (easy to find for cheap, say, at Costco). Also, when doing floor exercises, I use a yoga mat. With all of these precautions, my condition (which was quite severe, getting worse, and didn't respond at all to moisturizing creams or steroids) went away in about one month and I've been clear two years. Just throwing this out there just in case someone benefits from it. Here's a list of things that were suggested to me didn't work for me (although they may work for others): 1. Going dairy free. 2. Going gluten free. 3. Moisturizers such as Aquaphor and Lubiderm. 4. Steroid creams (worked a little bit for a little bit, and then nada). 5. Restricting hand-washings to three per day. Hand-washing with the scentless soap Cetaphil didn't cure my condition, but it was the only soap I could wash my hands with without having searing, burning pain. Now I'm back to using the same hand soap I used before dyshidrosis.
I have been dealing with this for a whole year. It started as I washed my hands excessively due to covid. At first it was nothing major but I neglected it as I didn’t know the extent of it and it grew bad fast. I’ve never been allergic to anything in my life and I now take a million precautions with it. Going as far as taking a neutral soap with me to avoid using anything on my hands. But just when I think I am getting a little bit better it flares up again. I haven’t been able to get rid of it for a whole year it is very frustrating
i recommend you see your local GP so they prescribe you some type of ointment. It was spreading all over my right hand stemming from my middle finger and i could not resist scratching it the bumps were just way too much to handle. I also have (or had) bits of the bumps on my left hand in the webs of my fingers and left thumb. I got an ointment prescribed and it's helping, quite a bit. I've only been using it 4 days so I dont know about long term. but my skin is returning to being smooth and non-itchy. Even if it doesnt work long term, it will still help you significantly dealing with the bumps and itchyness. Also that was the cycle for me, I scratch it and it leaves that dry disgusting painful skin behind, heals up and you think you're good and the blisters return, it was just a constant cycle it sucks but the ointment is helping me for now
I've found something that really helps reduce the blisters - Pycnogenol applied topically on affected skin. I purchase The Ordinary brand pycnogenol. Apply a few drops and allow to dry on skin. Really helps with flare ups. Does not fix the cause but helps to keep under control.
Thanks for saying that we have to be "strategic." That's how I feel all the time, thinking ahead to what product to apply due avoid irritation, this eczema, dryness, etc. And I was feeling something like, "am I the only one thinking about this? Am I thinking too hard? Does anyone else have to think ahead like I do for my skin to function normally?" So you showed me I'm not alone, and that I'm doing something right by being strategic!
Thanks for the Video clip! Apologies for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Quawen Card Cadaverine (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a good one of a kind guide for uncovering the technique to kiss goodye to eczema without the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my best friend Jordan after many years got amazing success with it.
I've had flare ups in the warmer months every year for the last 12 years thinking it was just my eczema. Sitting here with my hands bandaged and feel so relieved to have an actual name for this!! Fit all of the symptoms exactly.
So glad you did a video on this condition! I've had it on and off for 5 or so years, mainly in the winter like you mention, but it started flaring much more frequently last summer. One thing I wish you would have discussed when talking about nickel allergy is whether or not a low-nickel diet could be helpful. A previous dermatologist mentioned that and it sounded like woo woo to me until I saw there were some encouraging studies in the literature. Haven't made the leap to trying it yet but may do so if I keep having chronic issues.
This made me realize why my dyshidrosis is not going away even if it is mild. The COVID 19 pandemic doesn't allow me to stay away from washing my hands even if I am doing it with a mild cleanser.😱 I'll try the ointment hopefully it'll help. Thanks for making this video btw.
I completely agree. This hand washing thing is killing me and I have had the same irritated patch of skin for around a month now probably. I just can't get rid of it.
@@hannahquarterson5731 Same but longer I've been dealing with it for two months now it almost went away after going to the dermatologist a month and a half ago but since then things have changed. I have to say after watching this video yesterday I applied vaseline since that's what I had on hand and put on some cotton gloves and it really helped.
I visited my dermatologist and he prescribed me an ointment 'Diprosalic' (0,5 mg betamethason, 30 mg salicylic acid). My dyshidriosis was gone in two days.
I love you Dr Dray, everything you say makes perfect sense & sooo helpful for me. Thanks for doing this for people like me who have suffered with their skin for 50 years. I’m so truly thankful for your advice, understanding & care x
Thank you so much. I have been suffering for years and I bought cotton gloves and switched to using cerave cream to foam face cleanser as soap, and after only two nights of cerave ointment and cotton gloves the redness has nearly disappeared. My skin is scaley but I’m sure in a few days it will improve even more. If this continues to work this is life changing. Dermatologists just gave me steroid creams but your advice healed me 🙏🏼
man o man. I love how my USELESS (i suspect trainee) derm determined i have this they just said to use a medical cream and avoid washing my hands with too hot/too cold water. your explanation is so much more detailed thank you so much!
I developed this when I was pregnant with my daughter during Covid. She is too and it hasn’t gone away at all. You’re a video excites me so much because for the first time I feel like I understand what is going on and how I can combat and prevent it. It is so miserable. My skin itches so bad that I could literally scratch my skin off. I’m in the cracks hurt to touch anything. Thank you so very much! My doctor provided anointment but I was doing EVERYTHING wrong
I had this really bad when working as I washed my hands a ton. I also have a bad allergy, rast tested pretty high latex allergy developed in the late 90's which sent me to the ER and the doc would only let me back to work with a medic bracelet. Evidently in the 80's alot of us were sensitized to latex in the rubber gloves which in processing those years did not get rinsed and there were alot of lawsuits from people (not me) who made that connection. Thank heavens for nitrile gloves!
I am 20 years old, I've had this type of eczema for a few months now.. ever since the pandemic. I never had it before and I've been shook. I don't know if my eczema started up beaus I've been stressed (college student).. but the steroids and the ointments have been helping me out.
Don't continue them steroids, I've has this condition for 10 years and steroids thinned out my skin and made it age ALOT, I'm only 21, my skin became addicted to this cream and would go crazy if I didn't use it every 2 days, just let it go by itself naturally
You've been way more helpful than any dermatologist I've ever been to. 3 dermatologist, they just gave me the steroids cream and left me high and dry. Not a single advise "use this for a week, it may go away in about five years".
Thank you so much for making this video. I’ve been having a flare up on and off for months. Can you please make a video about autoimmune disorders that are related to skin disorders?
I was doing a lot of weightlifting when I experienced dyshidrosis and I knew the friction and chalk I used for grip was contributing, but now I wonder if I was also reacting to nickel in the implements! Lucky for me, a fantastic doc helped me with diagnosis and a steroid cream, and was able to recommend really good barrier creams. I also noticed the issue with nitrile gloves that you mentioned! Thanks for such comprehensive info!
Thank you Dr. Dray! My twin sister and I lived all our lives with Dyshidrotic Excema from the time We were five years old to now at 60 years old. It comes and goes but is extremely painful. All my life I had to walk on the sides of my feet because it was soooo unbearable😔. Picture yourself walking on a bed of hot coals and looking at the bottom of your red blistered feet. I felt like I was walking in hell and couldn’t get away from it! Then comes the opened, weepy wounds, the fluid that came out was so uncomfortable that I could barely stand it! The fluid would dry and stick to the white cotton socks I had to wear at night to bed. It would hurt so bad to peel the socks off my feet so my mom would place my feet with my socks on in the bathtub just to remove them without hurting. Then, when it was in the last stages of the excema my feet would become crusty and cracky. And YES! The cracks are very painful.😖. My mom did an amazing job taking care of us when we had a flair up. I would see tears well up in her eyes. I knew my mom felt helpless! I want all those who have dyshidrodic Excema to know you are not alone. Maybe one day they will find something to cure this horrible, horrible skin condition.🙏🏼😩. To this day I just don’t know what the cause of my flair ups are. My sister and I when we were little went through all kinds of allergy testing. Question? What ever happened to cotton socks? You can’t buy them anymore. God bless you Doctor for putting this video out.
OMG! 55 years! I can feel your pain and your mother's also. I have it in my hands for 10 years and I have been desperate so many times. I read some people healed it by taking biotin supplements. Someone drunk spinach juice (which also has biotin) for 3 weeks. I am going to try it.
I struggle with this constantly ...I have tried everything under the care of a derm but the last straw was when they prescribed Tacrolimus...Thank you for helping all your viewers with the perfect protocol🌺
So glad to see this addressed! I used to have this terribly on my hands! I found that I have minimal flare ups now that I avoid things containing SLS. SLS would even cause small blisters on my lips, so I had to find an SLS-free toothpaste.
I was so happy to see this, Dr. Dray. I recently had a scary situation with this, as my dyshidrotic eczema got infected with strep, resulting in lymphangitis...going almost all the way up my arm when u finally went to urgent care. I didn’t know eczema could lead to such complications! I was so uneducated on how to care for my condition and didn’t think it needed a doctor. I finally got it under control after the oral antibiotics and a topical prescription steroids, along with gloves, limited hand washing, Vanicream, CeraVe Cream were all factors in healing. One thing I want to tell u is that my DE was clearly linked with my hormones/postpartum time, as my flares were only after both births of my children, as well as after one of my miscarriages too. My doc said that estrogen has been linked with eczema flares. I am still breastfeeding, so it is unclear whether my flares were due to postpartum hormones, breastfeeding hormones, or mostly aggravated by all the hand washing due to diapering and just parenting in general. I also discovered that alcohol free hand sanitizers have not been irritating after diaper changes (Babyganics has a good one!). You have literally changed the way I treat my skin now, and I think I’m on the right path to keeping my hands/skin healthy. CeraVe is genius btw. Thank you so much ❤️
I've suffered with this on and off for years now, I've learnt so much watching this video, I didn't even know what it was called! Some things that were mentioned I have experienced myself and it's given me a few new tips to try to control it. Thank you
Not wearing my rings around the house is the biggest help towards keeping my house wife hands looking gentile. That and obsessive lotion application -I constantly dip my hands in a big jar of Cerave healing ointment.
My daughter had a CRAZY flare up last week that she's still healing from. Previous to this one, she's only ever had very mild flares that we never did much to treat besides moisturizing. Now she's taking an allergy med, using a steroid cream, on an antibiotic from secondary infection, and I'm doing ALL THE RESEARCH to avoid another crazy flare up. This video helped SO much!
Sending my love to your daughter. I get this feet and fingers . It’s not from sweat . It’s from stress and fatigue. It gets worse with heat though . My feet are so sore today I can’t hardly walk. Still went to work because no one would listen that I’m in pain . Coconut virgin oil with tea tree is nice to protect from bacterial infection. I take probiotics to help my gut health . I’m buying metatarsal insoles to protect my feet from getting so sore . Always got blisters easily and now this ! The padding prevents the soles and balls of feet becoming raw . I have metatarsal problems since I stood on glass . It took 7 weeks to draw the glass out . My left foot has only 80% rotation now. Good luck to your daughter
OH MY Dr Dray! I have dealt with this my ENTIRE life. Was hospitalized at 7 yrs old due to my feet being covered. My Aunt (whom I visited out of town) was even asked to cut a carpet sample to see if I was allergic. I was diagnosed with “eczema” in my late 20’s and just been doing what I can to keep at bay. My prescribed steroid cream really helps by using it just a few days. I deal will some of the blisters on my hands then some cracked skin, but the majority is on my feet. The SPRING is the worse for me. I even woke 2 nights ago to the arch of my foot ITCHING!! I knew it was “that time of year” again. THANKS FOR A GREAT VIDEO!!
Goodness, this looks miserable. Always enjoy your Q&A's, Dr Dray. I really love learning about all these skin conditions and so thankful I don't suffer from them. My heart goes out to people who do. Happy Friday!! 😊
Dr Dray is like my favourite youtuber and i was researching online desperately for dyshidrosis on my hands, and was like hmmm maybe....and searched up "dyshidrotic ezcema dr dray" and was blessed with this video. Thank you Dr Dray once again for saving my skin lol!
Thank you so much for making a video addressing this issue! I've been dealing with it for years on my hands and seen multiple doctors to no avail. Through my own research I've learned to wear gloves when my hands are going to touch any chemicals/detergents and found two brands of hand soap that won't trigger an outbreak.
This video was truly helpful!! My fingertips are in pain typing this but I just had to let you know! I feel so much more knowledgeable about my condition now and I'm going to purchase the items you recommended. Im never the type to leave comments but I'm truly thankful for you sharing your knowledge and explaining thoroughly. ..... BTW sunscreen and subscribe is too cute ❤️
Wow i finally found a dermatologist to go over what this is. I don't deal with nickle often but i do wash dishes and all of my hair products break me out (the so called organic options as well) thank you so much for this video!
OMG, as soon as I heard you describe this, I knew I had this badly for quite a while, a couple of years ago on the soles of my feet. I never knew what it was, even my doctor didn't know. Yes, the itching was unbearable. I used to pop the tiny blisters as this helped to lessen the itching a bit, and then they would scab over and leave a scaly patch. I haven't had it for a while now. I think maybe that's because chronic illness means I rarely go out, and so don't wear shoes etc. very often, so perhaps my feet sweat less. For whatever reason I'm REALLY glad this has gone away and hope it never comes back. At least, because of you Dr Dray, I now know what this is and what to do if it does ever come back.
Thank you so much for making this video! This summer I had a bad flare up on my hands/feet and have finally healed from it. Unfortunately it started coming back on parts of my hand and I didn’t know where to start as the products my dermatologist recommended made my eczema worse. Thank you for providing links and products that won’t irritate eczema skin. Something interesting I learned from my eczema is that it could also create scars on your nails, just small, circular indentations.
I have this. It was really bad in 2009-2010. I finally noticed that everytime i consumed soy (tofu, tempeh, etc) i would get flare ups. I love those foods so this was unfortunate but at least i knew what was causing it.
I developed this last year on my fingers. It comes and goes... I found running VERY hot, scolding water over the itchy spots would stop the itching. I'd dry'em thoroughly and apply lotion. It's been working so far.
Happy Friday Dr. Dray. Boy I wish you were around when my children were younger. I swear I thought I was going to have to get a degree in dermatology because they had so many allergies and skin sensitivities. But, it's great now because I can follow along on so many of the topics you discuss.
Hi Dr. Dray! It's always nice when you upload your videos! I wait for it every day! 😊 My doctor recently prescribed me Retin A, for acne, so I rewatched your Retin A videos. Since you use it with cerave moisturizer I decided to do that as well. I also was afraid to apply every night so I started applying only once a week. (My doctor asked me to apply every night) It's been 3 days and I am peeling but there is no irritation whatsoever. I would never have thought about applying it with cerave if it wasn't for you! So thank you, thank you! ♥️
Dr.Gray ,i am a new subscriber from the Philippines...I started having flare ups just this year when i turned 60..They were very itchy and even my nails were affected ...My dermatologist prescribed steroid cream, which helps but would make my skin very dry and scaly..I am so disturbed because it keeps on recurring...My hands are not sweaty, but i think the main culprit is the dishwashing liquid soap that i use..
I was born with eczema on my entire body. Over the years it has come and gone but the one area it always stays is on my hands. Everything you are saying here is true except for the heavy paste like creams on severe hand eczema. For me, applying this type of cream or vaseline to severe eczema is like appyling sweat onto your skin especially if your covering your hands with cotton gloves. For me, this just causes unbearable itch and I end up ripping my skin to shreds. I have found that appyling Aveeno hand eczema cream (love this cream) over wet hands, then a liquid steriod (I like Mometasone lotion 0.1%) keeps my hands moist yet not so moist that it causes itch.
Thank you Dr Dray...finally someone with answers that feel like they will work. I KNEW there was a fungal connection but it never occurred to me it could be a 2ndary infection, makes soo much sense now. Some of my spots resemble tinea ringworm with the outer ring rash....I thought it was a fungus or I knew there was a connection but you are right, we are dealing with secondary fungal or bacterial infections or ?, opportunistics.... I am eternally grateful for your help, Ive searched for answers at drs offices and online for 38 yrs no help until now. Cannot wait to try what you recommend. Also, when we treat something before knowing what it is, we mask, or create other problems like tinea incognito. These skin problems I bet can be traced back to vaccine poisoning, vaccine damage. Throwing poison on God's keyboard is not the answers to health.
This has been such a help. I have been looking for something like this. I have it on my feet and yes the Dr. said it was Eczema. I had it when I was little and then it went away. My brothers also had it. But now it has returned and on my feet. It was hurting so bad that it was hard to walk. I really did not believe the dr. because I never thought of it on the soles of my feet. Thank you for this video. I think during the winter I was wearing boots and thick footies. I damaged my toes with the pressure and had to have toenail remove. I had to soak feet 2xs a day and that was when my feet started to itch but I thought nothing. My hands have also just started but I keep cream on them. Anyway thank you - this has given me some understanding I was looking for. I am a 1st-time listener.
I’ve always had issues with hyperhydrosis but this is a first for me when it comes to dyshidrosis. The only think I can think to have caused it was this hand sanitizer I’ve never used before and about 3 hours later is when the flare ups began. I’m definitely going to try some of the CeraVe cream, I’m hoping it helps with the irritation.
Actually water with moisturizer helps, but you need to put moisturizer onto wet hands, so it would trap water, you need to keep on massaging until you feel relief. That's all that works for me. I was in remission since I was about 7-8 and it returned much stronger around the age of 27. I'm having issues ever since, but it's localized on my fingers 3 fingers on one hand and 4 on the other as opposed to entire hand which was the case just few years ago. It affected circulation and triggered immune response, swelling, etc.
Im so glad i found your channel.... i have been battling dishydosis on my hands for 3 yrs now and i am always trying to be a step ahead of it but fail miserably.... going through a flare up right now.... 😑
I've had this condition on and off for a few years now and couldn't figure out what it was... until now! Thank you for shedding some light on the topic as well as tips and guidance for maintaining this condition! 😊
The ring fact just made me realize I get it on my left hand fingers VERY OFTEN! Thank you! This is terrible, I've tried everything, I have the cerave emollient, but it is too oily, and thanx for the aquanil cleanser info., ordering right now!
Weird coincidence that I got this type of eczema the day this video got posted. My suspicion is the detergent pac that I foolishly tore open and rubbed between bare fingers under running water to test how well iit dissolved. Now I learned the name of this condition and I have ideas how to deal with it using info from this video. Thanks Dr. Dray!
Finally something that is helping meee ...i am just a teen and i have had this for like 4 -5 years and i feel so uncomfortable with this ....and its really really really painful ...i have this mostly in summer and i cant touch anything with my hands because of pain ...like it is everything so hard to do with your hands
Yeah it can be embarrassing when all my fingers are swollen with bumps 😔 I also get it during the summer mainly, I was good all year till a couple weeks ago :///
I've found the best thing for the itch is salt with a little water and pat it into the skin. It stings at first, but then the itch goes away for a few hours.
The blisters are itchy and the temptation to scratch them is annoying. As soon as you start to itch and break them open, more blisters start to appear in mere minutes. I've found relief by washing my hands with very warm water and extra strength medicated shampoo.
Hello dr.dray thank you so much . This is what my son got. He sees a lot of dermatologist but just worsened. I feel guilty handing my 🧬 genes of being asthmatic . It is not too late. I understand more with your information on this matter. I’m 😀 so happy . Thank you a thousand times. ❤️❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊😊
I've been loving exploring the no nonsense brands after watching your channel! I've found that Vanicream cream in a tub is even more moisturizing than CeraVe in a tub. Sometimes I use both and layer CeraVe healing ointment on top :D

I'm a professional guitar player and this is a nightmare for me. I made sure that it's not nickel allergy in my case. It also doesn't happen 'cause of water since my hands are wet really often, during the whole year. In my case it always happens only during summer when I sweat a LOT. Soaking in sea does seem to help somewhat though. It sucks 'cause it happens during summer season, when I have the most gigs and when I play guitar and sweat the most. I've tried everything to help myself but nothing really works, same for what my doctor gave me. It gets in the way of the thing I love the most and it's really, really hard to live with this, doing what I do. Sometimes it even appears on my feet which also gets in the way of my playing, since I have a problem keeping up the rhythm with my feet...
it is miserable and i am sorry to hear that you battle it as a guitar player....puva therapy is a type of treatment that i did not discuss here because sort of complicted to explain, but has helped some
I work in the ER & I HAVE to use hand sanitizer ALL DAY. Ugh! I heard that Botox in the hands to avoid sweat really helps. BTW, drinking Alcohol ABSOLUTELY will give you a flare-up. You'll notice this from now on.
I can vouch for Eucerin Eczema Relief. I've recently discovered that soaking in an Epsom salt bath for 20ish minutes is incredibly effective in calming down a flare-up if you're already inflamed/cracked/scaly/dry too. It almost seems to repair damage overnight. You can soak just your hands in a bowl, but I've had better results from taking a bath with the recommended amount.
This was very helpful! I'm dealing with this on my fingers atm. I make all my meals so I'm always washing veggies and then dishes. 😬 I really need to start using gloves.
Can you please do a recommendations video for baby/toddler sun care and removal of sunscreen daily without trashing their skin? I think it would be very helpful and there doesn't seem to be a ton of reliable info online. THANKS!! Love your channel and you have saved my skin and my girl's, LIFE CHANGING!! Thank you for all of your advice and hard work.
The nickel allergy seems to make sense. I can’t wear cheap jewellery as it causes irritation. Now I have this type of eczema on the sole of my left foot. Only on that foot. Nowhere else. Thank you Dr. Dray
Sharing this video with my son,. He owns a bistro and has no choice but to do dishes when the dishwasher is ill and his hands become red and fingers get deep cracks. The glove and ointment recommendations will be a blessing. Thanks so much. Hugs.... Sherry
This is amazing. Thank you so much for doing this video. I now finally, after 6 years know what is wrong with my hands, and how to treat it. I can't thank you enough ❤❤
Thanks, very informative! I didn't know this is eczema til i found it on Facebook today, then looked it up here. I used to have dyhidrosis before i switched to Cetaphil cleanser. Now i no longer experience it.
@@lkessler1 u have severe skin mites reactions. Everyone has skin mites on them. When your immune system is down they cause skin rashes. Soak in lime juice for one hour.
I have newly developed this condition and just want it to go away! How do I deal with showering, washing hair, applying skincare without exposing my hands to water/ soaps? 😩
i wear plastic gloves whenever i take a bath, especially when i have to shampoo my hair☹️ i also changed my soap and moisturizer to mild ones (my doctor's advice)
I’ve tried everything, if it is of any help some things that I’ve tried. The only only cream that calms me and is helping me is this Aloe Cool Soothing Gel from Benton. It is really cheap, like 8 USD. I think we are having less contact with sun so less vitamin D. I’m trying to get at least 30 mins of sun daily. I’m also taking cod liver oil to see if it has an effect.
I've had this condition for 10 years and I have a severe case of it, my advice, quite steroids creams! They damaged my skin and my skin became addicted to it. Usually soaps don't bother me as long as they are ph balanced and hypoallergenic like alba botanica body wash
I had this Dsyhidrosis on my hand for 4 years now, started in late 2016 due to excessive washing (like washing dishes using dishwashing soaps that are in a strong approach, same with using soaps that are not suitable for my case, and some laundry stuffs since it is linked with my skin dermatitis which started in my childhood. It's not easy to carry this thing and coming to the point of frustration and hindrance of self-confidence. I was terribly afraid to interact with people and expose my hand, so I hide this with my handkerchief. When it gets worse, I get to cry much cause it's so itchy and painful at the same time. I know there will be no permanent cure on this one but hoping it'll get away someday. I need to do some heavy household chores, but I can't, and it makes me sad and miserable those things that I can't do. For those people who haven't experience this thing and just laugh about it for criticizing such overreacting kinds of stuff with this case, just be openminded and understand this kind of skin disease caused, in my opinion, it really destroys almost half or terribly half of my life living with a normal situation.
I understand :'( I've been dealing with it for years and many family members don't believe me or make a lot of fun of me because "they don't see it" bcuz the patchiness and scaliness blends into my hands and feet and so "it looks like nothing" but it really affects everything I do. It's gotten worse too and now my whole body is starting to itch as well and I break out in like, hives or small little red bumps on my whole body. I've tried so many things and idk anymore
Thank you for this video! Often times my skin is coming into contact with large amounts of repeated water exposure due to where I work. So, I often develop Dyshidrotic Eczema on my hands. I am lucky that I have the ability to resist the temptation to scratch at it, because it gets so irritated. Vanicream and petroleum jelly are the go to for helping me reverse it when it happens and preventing it later down the line.
Niles Gilmore Hi, I just saw your comment on using canid read and Vaseline to reverse your dyshidrotic eczema on your hands. Would you be able to explain your process? For example, if you have the blisters on your hand, are you app, going both vanicream and Vaseline? Or one or the other? And how many times a day? Thanks very much.
After years of dealing with my husbands hands and feet literally looking like they we’re rotting off, I found mention of this type of condition. We have previously been to several doctors and they all said contact dermatitis, gave him steroids, it got better but would come back. I have eczema but never thought to try my creams on his hands and feet until recently. They have definitely helped but he currently has a bad flare up and has turned his hands into a bloody, oozing mess. We are going to the doctor this week and I’m definitely going to ask about this. The more I look at it, the more that I’m surprised the previous doctors didn’t mention this. Keep up the good content! Going to be putting some thick greasy lotion on his hands tonight to try and help him.
I was diagnosed with this around 12 years ago as a kid. I've always had hyperhidrosis as it runs in my family and my grandfather has a nickel and chromium allergy. I have struggled to heal this for years and tried a few different creams but it can be so difficult to use them when my skin sweats like a faucet. I found if I use the cream at night and then wash my hands during the day it just reverses everything the cream at night did. Thanks for making this video!
I have had this for years. I mean years! I am a cook on top of it. Everthing you said was right no the nose. I have recently started Blexten allergy meds Its helping a tone.( It was my kids meds, I was out of my over the counter stuff. Anyone suffering I would try Blexten) I am not sure what it is going to do when I go back to work. Sweating in nitrate gloves. I live in the far north of Canada so very dry winters. Heath care is a joke. Waited 3 weeks to see my new dr who i waited 4 years to get. He refused my request to see an allergest. The same one my kid sees. Nor would he send me to a dermatologist. Because my hands are good right now. I have not worked since June. This video is 5 years old would love to another or if anything new to treat this has come around.
I started having this in grad school. It was permanent and ended up having to wrap my hand to go to university and other places as it was ugly, uncomfortable and itchy but also to protect it and keep it somewhat moisturized. I couldn't get rid of it with anything and because of my studies, I'd spent a lot of time in dirt, dust and other dirty things, so I was really annoying. Then, a Naturopath told me I should try a product called "Solvarome" from a french lab. For a year, I used that product every night. I'd put it on my hands and feet, mixing with some shea butter, then put socks and gloves on (silk ones). I know, soooo sexy :D The difference was quite quick to see. My skin was soothed and the condition receded slowly. I would still have super frequent flares but they became less and less. It was 3 years ago. After a year of this treatment, my condition became occasional. I have flares when I go through very stressful situations (usually a week or two after the stressful event). I think from September 2018 to June 2019, I had only 3 small flares. I keep some Solvarome around to have some relief when I have a flare up, it really help soothing but also healing faster the skin after the falre, but I do not use it every day anymore. I also keep it because it's excellent to help your skin in general with cuts and other little things.
omg i was losing my mind, blisters on my hands and skin drying and peeling after getting a job with latex gloves, i think it was a allergic reaction to it and i thank you so much
I have recurring atopic dermatitis, suffering from seborhic dermatitis, sensitive to soaps and dirty surfaces (exposure to these causes contact dermatitis), I have hyperhidrosis, and I live in the tropics - hot and humid all year long, hence more sweats. I'm a 5 diamond resort for dyshidrosis. Currently having a flare up.

Just to backpack on this advice, here's my regimen when my dsyhdrotic eczema is really bad:
- Cerave Moisturizing Cream
- Aveeno Eczema Relief Balm
- Vanicream Ointment
- Cotton/Nylon gloves (The reason why I don't do 100% Cotton is that they will shrink to half their size in the wash. Have had no problems with this hybrid of Cotton/Nylon)
Repeat after every time you wash your hands. It's excessive but it works!

I have been using sunscreen of 50 spf.
same here, im currently pregnant and have just had this. I do have atopic eczema but this type is by far the worst I've had :(
Same. Mine has been here for 2 years; I was using pure acetone to clean my nail art supplies and it started the eczema. It won't go away. I've had so many steroids. Vaseline & gloves at night can help, but the cracking on my fingertips is excrutiating. I will try some of these tips.
Lime juice one hour
Here's a list of things that were suggested to me didn't work for me (although they may work for others):
I'm allergic to hand sanitiser and soap... flared up during the pandemic so thanks for making this video!
Severe skin mite u have. Lime juice one hour.
Also that was the cycle for me, I scratch it and it leaves that dry disgusting painful skin behind, heals up and you think you're good and the blisters return, it was just a constant cycle it sucks but the ointment is helping me for now
I’ve had this on one finger the whole year can’t get rid of it for the life of me

I'm having the exact same thing! I've been dealing with mine for around 2 years now, and the steroidal cream isn't working at all

Thank you so much. I have been suffering for years and I bought cotton gloves and switched to using cerave cream to foam face cleanser as soap, and after only two nights of cerave ointment and cotton gloves the redness has nearly disappeared. man o man. I love how my USELESS (i suspect trainee) derm determined i have this they just said to use a medical cream and avoid washing my hands with too hot/too cold water.

The powder in those gloves is equally awful...so irritating

I am 20 years old, I've had this type of eczema for a few months now.. ever since the pandemic. I never had it before and I've been shook. I don't know if my eczema started up beaus I've been stressed (college student).. but the steroids and the ointments have been helping me out.
What cream do u use?
Don't continue them steroids, I've has this condition for 10 years and steroids thinned out my skin and made it age ALOT, I'm only 21, my skin became addicted to this cream and would go crazy if I didn't use it every 2 days, just let it go by itself naturally
You've been way more helpful than any dermatologist I've ever been to. 3 dermatologist, they just gave me the steroids cream and left me high and dry. Not a single advise "use this for a week, it may go away in about five years".
Yup, my appointment lasted 5 mins she gave me a steroid cream and said schedule a follow up. I'm leaning more from this video
After all these comments, I'm not going to a doctor, what's the point. I feel the same way when I see my doctor
Stop eating / drinking dairy & eggs for a bit, and avoid soap. Had it for 10 years and the dairy suggestion fixed mine in a few weeks.

I submited this just before you went over dish washing 😂
What made it go away?

Thank you so much for making this video! This summer I had a bad flare up on my hands/feet and have finally healed from it. Unfortunately it started coming back on parts of my hand and I didn’t know where to start as the products my dermatologist recommended made my eczema worse. Thank you for providing links and products that won’t irritate eczema skin. Something interesting I learned from my eczema is that it could also create scars on your nails, just small, circular indentations.
This is very helpful and valuable advice for someone experiencing this for the first time. Thank you!
I have this. It was really bad in 2009-2010. I finally noticed that everytime i consumed soy (tofu, tempeh, etc) i would get flare ups. I love those foods so this was unfortunate but at least i knew what was causing it.
After looking my hands I wish nobody in this world suffer from eczema..may god bless us❤️
I developed this last year on my fingers.

I have them bad in the summer. It is bad.
I've had this condition on and off for a few years now and couldn't figure out what it was... until now! Thank you for shedding some light on the topic as well as tips and guidance for maintaining this condition! 😊
The ring fact just made me realize I get it on my left hand fingers VERY OFTEN! Thank you! This is terrible, I've tried everything, I have the cerave emollient, but it is too oily, and thanx for the aquanil cleanser info., ordering right now!
thanks for watching
so how am I gonna take a shower and excercise without getting wet and sweaty? how am I gonna do the laundry without getting my feet wet?
I had normal eczema before and now I have this too. It sucks but u learn to live with it. Just keep moisturizing and ice feels good!
Sometimes it even appears on my feet which also gets in the way of my playing, since I have a problem keeping up the rhythm with my feet...
it is miserable and i am sorry to hear that you battle it as a guitar player....puva therapy is a type of treatment that i did not discuss here because sort of complicted to explain, but has helped some
@@DrDrayzday Thank you for your reply Dr Dray!
I work in the ER & I HAVE to use hand sanitizer ALL DAY. Ugh! I heard that Botox in the hands to avoid sweat really helps. BTW, drinking Alcohol ABSOLUTELY will give you a flare-up. You'll notice this from now on.
Very good talk on a interesting topic, thank you for being so generous with your knowledge.
Happy weekend 😊🍁
THE WORKS TOILET BOWL CLEANER REALLY WORKS!!!
Yeah my mother I law got me through one in the white and red tube eczema relief therapy I believe and it helped some!
Thank you for addressing this topic. You're the best! Love your videos and vlogs
The nickel allergy seems to make sense. I can’t wear cheap jewellery as it causes irritation. Now I have this type of eczema on the sole of my left foot. Only on that foot. Nowhere else. Thank you Dr. Dray
Same with my foot, does cheap jewellery cause the foot issue or directly on contact? I have a gold plated necklace but nothing else
i literally got these, when i thought this year couldn't get any worst
U have severe skin mites. Soa in lime juice for one hour
Sharing this video with my son,. He owns a bistro and has no choice but to do dishes when the dishwasher is ill and his hands become red and fingers get deep cracks. The glove and ointment recommendations will be a blessing. Thanks so much. Hugs.... Sherry
He has severe skin mites reactions. Soak in lime juice.
This is amazing. Thank you so much for doing this video. I now finally, after 6 years know what is wrong with my hands, and how to treat it. I can't thank you enough ❤❤
Literally Thanks doctor for sharing your helpful knowledge about this type of eczema👏👏😊😊.I really want to get rid of this.
Thanks, very informative!
I didn't know this is eczema til i found it on Facebook today, then looked it up here. I used to have dyhidrosis before i switched to Cetaphil cleanser. Now i no longer experience it.
it’s literally driving me insane i dont even wanna go to school bc im insecure about my hands, i hate not being able to have nails on anymore either😭
Mine appeared on my fingers after I had artificial nails put on 😢
I’m so sorry ): I got it in 2019. Was flare free all of 2020 and now it’s back stronger than ever and on my feet as well ): I hope you healed
Im sorry to hear that babe i used to be hella insecure and would hate going to school for the same reasons. Its temporary I promise stay strong 💗
U have severe skin mites reaction. Soak in lime juice for one hour.
Lime juice one hour. Severe skin mites.
@@lasolana1448 soak one hour in lime juice.

Somebody said it was healed by taking biotin supplement, other by drinking spinach juice which also has biotin.
Why don't get Botox Injections in your hands or feet?
I know, soooo sexy :D
The difference was quite quick to see.
This might not be a popular recommendation but can you do a Q&A on care for armpit area. Such as deodorant ingredients recommendation.
i have a video on deodorant
Aloe vera gel is really good for this, cleared mine up.
Toby Hawkins which brand ?
How long did you have it before clearing it? How long did you use the aloe before it cleared? Where did you have it, hand, feet? How did you use it for it to work?
