I thought the same. Even they're own website claims 680bhp for Stage 1 on the S8.
Mine made 648 bhp and Ecotune said that was it not much more unless it was unsafe so no way 150bhp gain from a remap only. Normal S8’s run diff turbos to the RS6/7 so no way is this anywhere near 770.
mine did 750bhp from stage 1
mine was 670 bhp on stage 1 91 oct
Yea, stock S8+ with 605bhp does the same 100-200 time.
That has to be the closest best matched races I've seen on OG it was awesome... I wish you could get more of this type of match up and sack the finish line spotter he was terrible lol

I have had my S8 over a year now and it's a great car. If anyone is looking at that type of car I would recommend getting one you won't be disappointed
As long as nothing brakes... Love Audis but they have so many problems. I'm thinking about getting an s8 of this gen myself as a good weather car but I'm a little scared. RS6/RS7 are too expensive and S6/S7 have a weak 7 Speed DSG and can have problems with rust. The S8 has the stronger 8 speed ZF gearbox and an aluminium body. Yeah just body panels but better then nothing. Damn I don't know....

@Alcatraz Crylake I have done 9,000 miles in mine now and it has been OK. I think a lot of the time if it has been looked after you will keep repair bills to a minimum. Even if you buy a Golf R or Audi RS3 you can still get problems, you might even get more if they are ran on the cheap. I was looking at an Audi S6 but then when you remap it you get about 580bhp but with the S8 you get about 700bhp so I decided to go with the S8. I don't know how this guy has 770bhp with a remap when you look at APR you need a stage 2 and the times are quicker on the website than on this video. I think that hp should do 10.8 seconds or less 1/4 mile
@@4.0zai Cool if it works out for you.^^ But even stock ones (at least in germany) do have problems. Mostly they put big sticky tires on them and launch it. I heared of people with no problems and people where even stock it makes trouble. I learned that you can have luck or just bad luck with Audis. My 2014 A4 2.0Tdi (my first car) has now 155k kilometers on it and drives completely fine as well. Doesn't even drink any oil. Others have extreme oil consumption with less kilometers. Maybe I just look after my vehicle properly like driving it warm befor pushing it and let it cool of again. Have to take care about the rust on the underside this year. Nothing major but winter and salt...
@@09lee09 You can have always bad luck but the history showed major problems on VAG cars. I searched for this gen A8/S8 porblems and there aren't many known things or at least major problems. Maybe the airbags of the suspension could go bad but that is a normal thing. I don't know if the engine has the same oil filter problem at the turbos like the s6/s7 has but this wouldn't be too much of a problem.
The tune is strange for sure. All tuners I know get this amount of hp (even on the RS6/RS7) only with a stage 2 tune. The s6 doesn't get as much hp with stage 1 because the smaller turbos. You would need to put RS6 turbos on it but even then, the engine is a little different as well and the trans in the s6 is normally spec limited at 800Nm of troque. The ZF8 spec is 1000Nm but can take even more and the s8 engine is completely the same like the RS6 engine. Just put to 520hp stock.
The engine swapped cars are seriously some of the best cars I’ve seen on this channel , we need more of them , especially that mustang 🔥🔥🔥

You’d have to literally cut the flooring out of the gti and replace it with golf r flooring so the haldex and transmission can fit.

I don’t want to criticise no one here, I’m a big fan of both cars, but I’m pretty sure a stage 1 s8 will produce anywhere between 675 crank hp to 705 hp, a stage 2 s8 will produce anywhere between 720 hp to 750 most likely.
You‘re right!
An S8 in order to go above 720hp to the crank needs bigger turbos. That S8 in the video was around 660-680hp. No more than that. I have an S8 and went through all stages currently at Stage 3+ with 820hp to the wheels.
the s8 was stage 2 in this video, not stage 1. The host of the video was incorrect saying stage 1
@@brezhnrl6093 stage 2 on those 4.0tfsi found in the s8, rs6/7 & Bentley continental usually achieve between 715 to 750 bhp(with custom mapping), if that s8 is producing 770 bhp on stage 2 it must be mapped to run race fuel or ethanol, no way standard 99 fuel, I’m very impressed if it’s running 770 bhp with standard 99 fuel ☺️

Tech has changed the rwyb drag race game! i once had a manual 500hp impreza which i was calculating tyre size to understand the mph at the top end in 4th. While side stepping the clutch in 1st at 6500rpm then catching slip going into 2nd!!!
