Apparently Martin Luther King Jr was in the crowd for this performance and was weeping the whole time. Frank stood up against racism and was very vocal against it. Love him
In 1967 Frank Sinatra sang this song at a special fundraiser for the NAACP at Carnegie Hall. Dr. King was in attendance and Sinatra’s interpretation of this song moved Dr. King to tears. You should look this up. It was very moving.
I was alive to hear Sinatra at his peak, 1960-70. I am moved that a young man such as yourself can appreciate Sinatra's talent. Like the vid & following you.
For a New York born Italian American his soul Understood and empathised with the plight of African Americans and their history of slavery. This rendition of this song is wonderful and Frank's voice was amazing.
I am so thrilled to see a young man like yourself getting a chance to hear one of the greatest singers, ever. He was indeed wonderful, and the way he sings that song gives me goose pimples. Thank you for sharing and God bless you.
He was peak in mid 60s.. That's life.. My Way.. Strangers in the Night.. Summer wind.. If you like old school go try Ella Fitzgerald.. Sarah Vaughn.. Louis Armstrong.. Billie Holiday.. Dean Martin.. Sammy Davis.. All left huge footprints
Emily. Thanks but her live '60s stuff is my favorite. Mack the knife or Dukes Place about 1965 live footage shows the scat chops. Her early Chick Webb stuff also like Undecided
Lol his prime and peak in 40s and 50s in 60s Sinatra was out of his mind and acting like he's a mobster though he's affiliated but man he's crazy at that time!
Thanks so much for loving Frank, the best there ever was. There's so much I could tell you about this man who helped so many people, did so much to try to bring equality to all people, and so much more. Brought a new way of singing and delivering a song, brought a depth and personal emotion to his music and acting, check out The Man With the Golden Arm. A man who truly enjoyed life and brought joy to so many others. Keep delving into Frank Sinatra. Of course I could tell you about all the women and whatever but, as is usually the case, that brought as much pain as pleasure to him and he is not afraid, as most are, to let his raw feelings be there for all to see in his music. Thanks for spreading the word
Your reaction is awesome. You really got into the song and performance. You really appreciate Sinatra's great talent. I saw Sinatra twice live in concert. Once in 1978 at the Garden State Arts Center in New Jersey and once in 1980 in Atlantic City New Jersey with Dean Martin. Needless to say, both shows were fun fabulous and exciting. Those are great memories I will always treasure.
There's no doubt Sinatra was one of the best singers ever and this a powerful rendition of the song, but you really should listen to Paul Robeson's version, you can find it here on UA-cam. You'll thank me for this, believe me. ;)
Yes!!! Frank Sinatra!! Happy you are doing this!! Summerwind and It Was A Very Good Year are awesome!!! You are the only one who reacts to Frank Sinatra..Good job💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
I totally understand what you are saying! When I was a child, my Father had a big band and the musicians would be rehearsing in the house when I was about 3 years old, I heard Frank Sinatra for the first time, I couldn't stop listening! Among all the others, I love the ballads, especially from his albums "Sinatra & Strings" "September O My Years" I sang these songs growing up during the 50's 60 and so forth. Every album Sinatra came out with I couldn't put them down! I sang in my dads bands from 7 years old onward and believe me, I know what you mean by saying I wish I was in the day of Sinatra, I kept telling my dad, "I'm in the wrong era!" I am so thrilled I was able to grow up in the right era with all the great music from the 50's up even till today to appreciate what Sinatra and his talent was all about! I was a teen idol in the 70's but went back to my roots later in life and who knew but GOD himself let me fulfill a dream of a lifetime! For the past 25 years I have successfully established a career of representing Frank Sinatra worldwide as a Sinatra Tribute Artist meeting many of his wonderful friends, known and unknown, his family and reliving that Rat Pack era. Sinatra is still in demand and It is AWESOME to hear your appreciation. ALL THE BEST!
that was, how you say?.....DOPE !! I used to consider my weakness for Frankie as a guilty pleasure, being a classic rock/classic soul disciple, but hey, sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say........ Fantastic.
Nice, good to see appreciation from modern day to when things were simple and all they had were a microphone and their voice....Frank, Sammy, Dean were best buds...
Young Bruh! You Continue to Thrill and Amaze Us All! I Can't Thank You Enough For This! You Will Absolutely Love Ella Fitzgerald And Dean Martin. And for Kicks , React to James Brown and Pavoratti Doing, "This Is A Man's World".
I find it so delightful that you like Frank Sinatra so much! I am 69 and I thought of his music as "old fashioned" when I was growing up and here you are a young man enjoying his music! Except for a few songs, I never really cared for his music but watching it with you - when you clearly love him - has made it fun for me!
Sinatra, such a great artist...This performance of Old Man River, so riveting, so deeeeply moving I never heard the tragic dimensions of this masterwork evoked more powerfully.
This is such a good song! The first time I heard Mr. Sinatra sing it I cried! If you have not watched him with Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. on a Vegas stage you need to see it! There collection called The Ultimate Rat Pack collection that you can get for cheap on ebay. It's has a ton of songs by each individual and it also as a great recording of the three of them with Johnny Carson in St. Louis and it's just a great watch! They are hilarious and they just make you smile every time you see it!
Song from the musical Showboat, by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II. which premiered in 1927. There are also two movie versions of it. Lots of other great tunes in the show.
If he were still alive, Frank Sinatra would be so thrilled to know that a young man like you has been enjoying his music. I am 65 and Sinatra was a favorite of my parents, so I grew up hearing his timeless voice. I absolutely love watching your reaction to his songs. Since I discovered your videos, You make my day, every day. Thank you. 💕
As a Sinatra nubie, check out his recordings from the 40s and 50s. Albums like "Only the Lonely" and "Wee Small Hours" ua-cam.com/video/j7Jfs9MY0hg/v-deo.html will break your heart with his interpretations of the title songs and the rest of the album. Frankie was so handsome. Loved listening to my parents records of him since a kid. You should do one of him Antonio Carlos Jobim. The King of the Bossa Nova. Sooo good, the two of them together
I wish there was music today that you could go out dancing as a couple like in his time. I bet you could tear up that dance floor to some of his songs.
The depths. I sang this at my Dad’s wake...Sinatra was his jam. In many ways, mine too. I got 3 tickets to see him on his last Vancouver Gig, me, Mom, and Dad❤️❤️❤️That last line. Daammmmmn!
This is when he had his own TV show. Because he had sung with just about everyone in nightclubs and movies, he could have anyone on his show, and he did. All of the big singers from all genres had a TV show: Glen Campbell, Perry Como, Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Frank, the Smothers Brothers, Judy Garland, Jim Babies, etc. Watch videos of him when he was the front man for the Tommy Dorsey Band from the 40's and check out clips from his movies.
Listen also to the Sammy Davis Jr rendition. This was played a funeral of the brother of a friend. A different rendition, not Sinatras. It brought everyone to tears...so classic. Thank-you for your comments of this classic iconic song
The Chairman of the Board! You should listen to some of his stuff when he was young. He was a true renaissance man. He was was also a very good actor, yeah and he could also dance. GOOD CHOICE!!! You have to check out some of his movies. “Guys and Doll”, Robin and the Seven “Hoods are a good starting point.”🙏✝️❤️
If you like, please check out Frank singing this same song in 1946, when he was in his prime. The video shows him in a white tuxedo with a full orchestra in the background. What a voice!

Amazing rendition by Sinatra. The soundtrack of the 20th century. And Sinatra did so much for racial relations. He walked the talk. Thank you for posting this performance
Frank was truly an American hero, in the early 60s there were night clubs that would not allow black people in the bar or restaurant area. It has been documented that on numerous occasions Frank told club owners that Sammy Davis Jr would eat/drink with Frank at his table or else and Frank had the connections to shut down any club from NY to LA. Needless to say it still took GUTS for Frank to stand up for what was right !

Listen to Paul Robeson singing Ol' Man River.
Paul’s version is amazing. But I’ll always consider Frank as the best voice ever in popular music history.
Paul's version kills me.
Definitely has more meaning to it
Yes absolutely !
Wm Warfield!
A true entertainer of the highest order. Please hear the song by Frank called Fly Me To The Moon.
