Pay attention to these guys. I’m 75. After being a runner from age 20 to 39, I switched to walking. When I moved to the West Coast, I added hiking and cross country skiing. For mobility reasons, I can no longer walk even ¼ mile. But I can ride a stationary bicycle, and do almost daily. Thanks to that, all the benefits Brad and Mike mentioned are still a part of my life. Again, pay attention to these guys!

2015, paralyzed due to a systemic MRSA infection. Five surgeries, ICU, ventilator, near death.
Five weeks of intense hospital rehab. Four months of out-patient rehab.
    Began keeping a spreadsheet.
19,000+ miles of planned walks, RWRing, hikes, backpacking.
    2,000,000 feet of elevation gain.
24,000+ miles of total daily distance.
    Thousands of calories burned.
    8,000+ miles cycling.
I just turned 77 years old and credit movement for my survival.
I train with resistance bands, continuing to work on balance and flexibility.
Life could have been much different.

I went to cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation with a PT after having years of shortness of breath and frequent respiratory infections. Five minutes of walking was too much. I started with 3-5 minutes on the recumbent bike, stretches and breathing exercises. I slowly advanced over 6 months. Now months later I do 30-45 minutes everyday on the elliptical or treadmill along with weight training.

That’s seriously impressive! Many folks get discouraged at starting with seemingly tiny amounts of exercise, but you’re proof, it builds and pays off big time. Thank you for the inspiration to start wherever you can and stick with it. Keep up the good work. 😊

Thanks everyone! The PT was a lifesaver. There are some nice exercise videos if you search for “pulmonary rehab exercise” on UA-cam. They are done seated and can be kind of fun. Stuff like swimming-in-place and disco arms. As I progressed, I would do them standing and then when marching for one or two songs once or twice a day.
Breathing exercises are no fun, but were also very helpful.

This is such good advice. I walk five times weekly to exercise classes. I take one day off. The other day I ride a stationary bike to nowhere and then hit the weights at the gym. I agree it's not just longevity, but quality of life. Being mobile and doing so with relative ease means a more active, social life and better mood. I can attest the opposite it true as well. Get to where it hurts to stand, to move, to walk -- then the depression and (at least for men) the anger starts. I tell people, happiness is a choice. It doesn't just happen. You have to work at it. Healthy body, healthy mind, and vice versa. With regard to losing weight, I have a super power. I can gain weight faster than a speeding bullet. So I watch what I eat and how much. By now it's a way of life; a lifestyle change. Miracle drugs, whatever, okay, but it boils down to two simple things: Eat less, move more. Miracle stuff may point the way, but in the end, eat less, move more. These guys are onto something. Well done, yet again!

Avoiding and eliminating as many carbs as possible from your diet can help you avoid or reverse type 2 diabetes. Carbs cause type 2 diabetes. Get a glucose meter and use it frequently.

I totally disagree with you about the whole diabetes and keto theories of wellness. Number one diabetes has many causes but eating carbs is not one of them! I'm a proud carbivore. I tried to stop carbs and it absolutely doesn't work for me. What causes diabetes is the things in diet like high fructose corn syrup. Etc .these things are what causes the damage to the internal organs. You might as well add a few drops of transmission oil to every meal. Sure then you are going to be diabetic. Mankind has lived off fruits vegetables unrefined starches etc for years. They do not even make you gain weight I love my fruit. I love a good baked potato. I'm not going to stop eating wild rice chicken soup.i would not think of ever stopping my natural breakfast bars. People have diabetes because of the damage they have from years before. Also parasite play a huge role too, it is not carbohydrates that hurt you it's what's added to them that make them dangerous. Blueberries are not dangerous. Bananas are not poison. Peaches, apples, potatoes and rice are not dangerous. Raw Cane Sugar not dangerous Put butter and sea salt on them plenty not dangerous Clogging the lymph and bile ducts with chemicals infections and parasites, now that's real dangerous! Read labels and eat to live. They have done it for centuries around the world and none are fat until they eat an American de-nutrurnted diet full of chemicals and parasites

Hate Mall walking, because the scenery never changes. I'm 70 and did my 1st 5k this year. Came in 3rd in my age group. Now I try to do 3 to 4miles a day with a 16m/mph goal. I started adding a 20lbs vest and am now interval jogging. Have to admit I don't always feel like getting out there right after dawn, but if I don't it doesn't feel right the rest of the day. I never liked excersise growing up and always said I'll never run...but here we ate. Love the show. So.much good info

I just came from the gym to watch your video! Love your videos. Gym today was just a stretching (yin yoga type class). BUT before the class I did my 30 minutes of rowing at home. Glad you mentioned rowing. I love my setup. I have an old Precor 612 and use a Quest 2 VR headset to do workouts with a program called Holofit. The program has virtual worlds you collect trophies in while rowing, biking, running on an elliptical, or just using the hand controllers while running or skiing in place. They also have some HIIT and cardio workouts you can select, or just go at your own pace. I also do strength training twice a week at the gym along with the stretching classes 3 times/week along with the rowing and other cardio workouts. At 72, I seem to be doing just fine. I wouldn't know I'm older if I didn't know my birthdate, lol. I'm always looking to learn more about staying fit and avoiding stuff aging people get prone to and Bob & Brad channel has a lot of videos for that. Yay.

I have bad balance from a car accident effecting my preexisting conditions. I want to rebuild my glutes and thighs. I lost alot of muscle mass I'm immobile right now. My back was hurt and I've got congenital spinal stenosis, but I danced ballet as a younger person. The muscle memory from years of ballet lasted into my late sixties, then I fell! That started the ball rolling to disaster. I think I have Pitiformis Syndrome and my left gluteal muscle went completely flacid with the first injury in 2020. ( But I got it back) I went to PT for eight months three times a weeks in 2021, and recovered partially to walk again on my rt leg. Then a guy rear ended me eight months ago and now my left leg injured. (Lumbar vertebrae causation). I was hoping to find a passive plie` machine. If I could get my thigh muscles back I might be able to get my core strength back evenly. I have IT Band Syndrome too, usually on the affected side ..first right in 2021 now left in 2024. So far I have avoided the much offered western medical suggestions of invasive surgeries ..Are there any such machines out there? Or maybe Brad you can invent one lol. I miss Bob and send him my prayers. It looks like he's trying to kick ass on that dread condition. Much love to you Bob and Mike! Kudos! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

These are great ideas for indoor exercise. I have arthritis in my feet, ankles and back, and so far, the best treatment I have found (besides physical therapy) has been some prescribed custom made orthopedic insoles that were made by a pedorthist. A pedorthist is not a podiatrist! Pedorthists specialize in making medical insoles. They are expensive! Mine were $450, and they're not always covered by insurance, but for me, they have been well worth it. I'm back to walking a mile each day and my back feels much better too.

Great ideas. I love my hour walk outside EARLY morning (6am) as I live in the country and surrounded by almond orchards. Now is harvest-so so dusty and bad to breathe. So I go out as early as possible to best the workers and dust. (And stay out of the sun because of skin cancers I’ve had🙄) Also best the awful heat. Winter, if we get any rain, is dangerously slippery so I usually exercise indoors walking in place and more. It’s all a balancing act! But keeping active and my legs and body strong is my main focus! Thanks for all the tips!
PS..will Sara Meeks be on again any time? I learned so much from her!!
Thanks so much for such helpful videos!🩷

When I was in my late 20’s to my early 30’s, I jogged. I had several running injuries and stopped. Now in my 70’s, I walk. I liked jogging; I HATE walking. I listen to music or Christian radio but I still HATE it. And, even though my FitBit says I am burning more calories than I take in, I don’t lose weight at all.
