ABOUT THIS VIDEO
When walking, you shouldn't feel like you're constantly hunched over. You should be able to stand up straight and walk comfortable with relaxed posture. Activate your spinal muscles, butt and hamstrings, and calf muscles with the simple exercises in this video. If you strengthen muscles in your upper legs and lower legs, you'll find walking a lot easier and more enjoyable.

This is great! I cannot get my head back to the wall, nor do any of these movements to their fullest.....that means I need to do these a Lot! Thanks again
That's the spirit!
This is an awesome video. Just what I wanted . Thank you so much for both explaining and showing how to go about the same. Will add this to my routine.
My other friend is using Walker , how do We go about the same. Please guide.
Thank you, I started walking every evening after dinner, thanks to you. Love your videos! And really enjoy your sense
Of humor. 🎉❤
Where has this channel been all my life. I need to do these desperately, it looks like the back of my neck is pregnant😆
Thank you from Ukraine
I was shocked at how difficult I found the head against the wall exercise. I obviously need it. Thanks
Don’t worry this is a tough exercise for most! In the rehabilitation profession we use the Occiput to Wall Distance test to measure how much mid back curvature and neck mobility people have! It’s a great assessment tool!
Super difficult and exhausting
Hospice is a wonderful experience. Most of us don't have any experience with death and often we are shielded from it. I was a volunteer.
0:26: You can correct hunched posture by using your muscles to change the situation.

3:49: Maintain a straight spine and follow the line of your legs while bending forward.
4:53: Move your feet closer to the wall and squeeze your butt cheeks and hamstrings while bending forward.
5:52: Gradually progress to using a small weight while tracing your legs.
8:18: Start with twice a week and gradually increase intensity.

Thank you man my mother has a hunchback she’s 64 years old. I just started showing her some stretches and showing her how my massage techniques will help her with her pain and I want her to correct her hunchback. I am learning thank you for this video.
I've watched 4 videos this morning addressing this issue and this is the only one I've bookmarked. I'm 74 and tend to lean forward when walking.
I experienced a very painful collapsed vertebrae 4 years ago which complicates my attempts to correct my posture, but I work out at LA Fitness 2-3 times weekly (member for 17 years) to strengthen my back and body overall. I've had some success and can now walk short distances, like grocery shopping, without my walking stick.
I've found that a fat, overhanging belly makes it almost impossible to stand up straight, so I'll continue the ongoing battle to control that.
I'll also incorporate your techniques at home to enhance my other efforts.
Thank you! 😄
I just started these last night AMF they helped a lot!
I'm only 40 but with a broken back and TBI I feel closer to you!
I found a Dr who explains how foods effect our bodies in a very easy to understand way. He's helped me pick the right foods, etc.
Dr. Sten Ekberg, check one out and it'll help lose that belly. (Me to by the way, it is a hindrance!)
I love these exercises. I've seen so many that have to done on the floor. I can get on the floor but im not so sure I could get back up from the floor. I will definitely try these out. Thank you for sharing them.😊
BOOKMARKED! 2023 & 2024 is the year of rebuilding my mental & physical health.
Because of spondylolisthesis after having a large spinal cord to removed, I can no longer touch my low back to the wall. Can’t even come close! But I can do, what I can do! thank you for taking the time to explain these, you do them in a very nonjudgmental, calm, and timely manner. My father has just had A stroke and is recovering after losing the complete use of his left hand and wrist, and radial nerve damage and also has trouble ambulating. These will be really good exercise for him, and I can do them along with him, to help him be compliant! L O L. Thank you!😊
Thank you so much, this video is very helpful towards my walking without a hunched back and strengthening/waking up my back, leg, and calf muscles for a better and more progressive walk.
I can't contribute to the walk a thon right now, but I am sorry you lost your mom last year. I lost my parents in 2010 and 2011, so I understand grief and I'm glad you got some help to walk that road. (pun intended). I just also wanted to say that I really appreciate how you never, ever make people like me with fibromyalgia feel stupid for having to take any kind of exercise super slow. I'm still very young (42) and while I do know a fair amount of exercises that could help, just hearing you say that it is a ok to spread them out over time and that you don't want us to be sore just makes me feel better. I always want to push myself and it always backfires. I have not been able to consistently exercise since my 20's because anything I do just makes the pain worse. Again, thank you for being so considerate to everyone's abilities and explaining everything so clearly and easily and positively. You're the best! Pain sucks, life shouldn't!
Your exercises look very helpful. I will practice them, probably 3 nonconsecutive days per week. Thank you.
Just what I needed at this time!
Thank you my friend you are great.
I really like your teaching method. You simplify, encourage and add humour as you inform & explain, coaxing us to try harder but with care. Thank you for the info on your dear Mothers’ hospice because if one misses this opportunity we have the details to do so later.
Thank you, great.
Great video! Thank you for these terrific movements!☯️
Thank you. I'm relearning to walk after years of over prescribed muscle relaxers and your videos are getting me back at it!!
Love your podcasts. Have signed up to one of your programs. Thank you so much for all of this, from UK
You are the king.
This stretch for my posture is fantastic. Feels great. Thank you
Very helpful. Thank you.
This is another good video . I shall work on these exercises. Thank you.
I do some of these exercises already but it's good to be reminded of the how and what these moves are helping. 👍
Great video, very clear and easy to follow. I need to practice these exercises a lot to get good posture.
Your videos are so helpful! (yoga describes the hip-bend as “hingeing”. I always found that a helpful cue) thanks!
Excellent thank you
Thank you, I will try it.
Thank you!
Thank you very effective ❤ you've given me hope that I can get my posture back and walk normally again. You're amazing ❤
After 10 spinal surgeries, seven on my lower back, I will try these. However, with torn tendons in both hips, I have some misgivings about how much more damage I might do. I have scoliosis and spinal stenosis also, but I am game for anything that might help even a bit.
Thank you for doing this! 🙏☯️
Brilliant.
Really excited to try these! I have tight hip flexors and hunchback from breastfeeding and too much phone use and I have been looking for some exercises to help my posterior muscles!
So sorry about your Mom... God bless you.
Thank you. My posture needs help. I know I’ll get better!
Very good position, i will try! You explain very well!!
Yes helped a lot 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thank you so much for all of these helpful videos. You are awesome. Can you do one for treatment and prevention of migraines, pretty pretty please?
Thanks for this video I will do tge exercise to correct my posture.
Another way to improve posture and upper body strength is through belly dance chest isolations. Also dancer arms which will engage the shoulders.
Thankyou.
This looks great, mate.😂🎉
watching bc my mom says i always walk with a hunchback 🥲
Thanks!
Thank you so much, Jeanne!
The second exercise is probably one of my favorites and what I use the most with my patients to practice the hip hinge pattern and to help people work on improving hamstring flexibility! I have them do the exact same thing but with a slight bend in the knees!
And I love the third exercise
not only building your calf muscles but for increasing the stretch on the achilles and back of the thigh. I notice people hold a lot of tightness in the calf muscles because of modern shoe wear people use which are rigid and have too much cushion!
This is a great video to get people moving!!!
Glad l found you
Pain in my knees when I start walking makes me lean over almost in half, this is the only way I can get from A to B.
Thank you for providing such informative and helpful videos. Would these exercises be helpful with the forward flexion from spinal stenosis? Would you recommend any others?
I have ankylosing spondylitis and sometimes it's the least painful position to move
I can’t do this one
What shoes are those? Thanks!
Too late...I've had several (5) surgeries and 3 fusions (rod/screws/cage). Since then, I can barely stand straight. I'm going to do this and see if it helps at all.
Hi Matt..
Do u have a video for people with Osteoporosis ? Thanks
Yes, Please, discuss osteoporosis. I've been told not to bend over forward, but this doesn't seem to be doing that exactly, more of a "hinge" keeping spine straight. Is this right?
Woul this help with some Scheuermann kyphosis never wore my brace as a kid I'm just trying to walk as straight as possible. Would appreciate any advice
I have had five back surgeries. I have scoliosis. Is this exercise possible for me since I have titanium up and down my back?
Hi can I do all this excesises I have L5-S1 n psoriatic arthritis wit peripheral neuropathy advice or give option plzzz thks
❤❤❤❤❤
Hi there.
Please answer if you have the time.
I'm working on my neck hump for a month now.. Started sleeping on my back without or just one thin pillow, trying to do the exercises you shown in your previous videos.
I almost got used to it sleeping on my back, but then i got this idea: What about those orthopeadic pillows?
I just bought one but it feels like does the opposit what i should do.
Your erars and shoulders should be in a line, right?
This feels like it pushes my head forward way to much when i'm on my back.
Any suggestions?
Should i just skip it and sleepd without a pillow?
Thank you.
Doesn t this deserve an answer ?
Walking with barefoot shoes that don't elevate your heels and being mindful of your body stance help A LOT.
At 81, with osteoporosis and 4 spinal fractures, and bone cancer, is it possible to help my hunchback painful walk?
@@lindaparker9605something can always be done to help ease pain and tension in the muscles trying to support us. I believe we can do something gentle everyday that 2will help
Glad you did good exercises and walking is good. DO NOT HOSPICE ANYONE. PAIN SUCKS AND EUTHANASIA IS WRONG.!!!!
